"No more hanging wires!" is a parody of the famous line "No more wire hangers!" from the trashy child-abuse "drama" _Mommie Dearest._

The Simpsons were bashed for years that they set a bad example and influence children. And the Matt Groening anwer to this always was : "If you don't want your kids to be like Bart Simpson, don't act like Homer Simpson." Shifting the blame for everything to music, games or TV is simply stupid and hypocritical.

All studies say the same thing about tv, music, movies, comics and video games. If you have a loving family that is a good influence then these things have little to no influence on children because they were taught better. However the opposite is also true if you come from broken home with no or few positive influence then this stuff can have a stronger affect. So its technically both.

On the other hand, be careful to not confuse finding solutions with assigning blame. It can be absolutely true that parents are to blame for behaviour of their children, but that statement does not lead to anything actionable (in fact it often leads away from it).

@@radekc5325 Your correct its correlation not causation. Because this is not math no situation can be 100% factual. Which is why we rely on correlation to narrow that margin as much as possible. There will never be a true solution fits all. Can only use what we know that brings odds in favorable situation. Which is why statistics is not about action but explain reaction to most likely how got to a scenario. It won't always be true but numbers add up that can help stir a direction and hopefully in the right one.

If they don’t have role models like Bender, how will our children learn that stealing is the coolest of crimes? We can’t rob them of important lessons like that, even if it would be very cool.

Its children environment primarily parents and siblings have the most influence followed by friends. Which makes social media significantly more complicated and not group with other stuff that even with proper up bringing can have a stronger influence. Because its real world actively going out of its way to influence which obviously includes adults as well. Not saying social media = bad but parents should be more aware when it comes to social media because it has way more influence on people than all the other stuff mention.

Overall, the effect of violent video games, TV shows, and music on the behavior of children and teens is minuscule at best. This has been researched for decades, and they found it simply had a negligible effect. As always, bad kids come from bad parents. Plain and simple. People need to stop blaming everyone else for being a shitty parent. Yes, there are always exceptions. But they are exceptions, not the rule.
