Man, i listened this song like 10 years ago , i was in absolute love with it and then i forget about it , until few months ago i was thinking about those dancers and the melody but impossible to remember the name of the song neither the band. just found a paper with the lyrics on it written by hand by myself a decade ago. glad i'm back here , this song was important to me i couldn't forget it!

Future Islands has some of the best fan made videos I've ever seen: this, Old Friend, Vireo's Eye, Heart Grows Old with clips of nature, Lighthouse with clips of Star Trek. And they all fit, but maybe it's just because the music is so good. I watched seagulls dropping snails onto rocks to break them open while listening to Ancient Water from their latest album, and it was strangely awesome. Almost thought about filming it.

I've watched this video many times. It's not about joke, it's about heart oppenes. This absurdity allows to emphasize the detachment from reality, the ease of life sensation. Everytime I listen to this song I get fucking mesmerized about how much repressed anger is contained in this. I cried when I first noticed it, and everytime i hear this I feel like crying again. The way he sings this hurtful poetry with his voice low, through the whole song. The way he sings, between his teeth, "you hurt ... me so bad...", in the third time this line appears. And finally, the way he screams in the last strophe about how he went off and saw things he'd never seen, "I really wanted you there". Then finally, he repeats, screaming and almost crying, ultimately releasing all the anger that he's repressed through the whole song, in a way that even his words are distorted: "YOU RUINED, WAH WEH LEH JUST CAUSE YOU NEEDED A HAND". The end. Beautiful and sorrowful.
