She really seems to have expectations when it comes to romantic partners in terms of finances, (which is not necessarily a bad thing in itself), but that's something that has really changed since the start of their relationship. She really needs to reflect on what she can & can't live with, what her priorities are, & if they line up with her boyfriend (& his daughter). That said... She was quite shallow & ungrateful. They weren't the expensive things she asked for, but there are good reasons why they couldn't afford to get her those things, & they put time, effort, & love into what they _did_ make for her. It made me sad & angry that she hurt the daughter's feelings. I think OP needs to move on so the boyfriend & his daughter can find someone more suited to become part of their family.

3:50 This commenter is either clinically insane or living a pitiful existence if they think that a man lying to his girlfriend, the mother of his future child, as opposed to simply telling her the truth is the "normal" situation or that, even if that was the "normal" situation, that would be a valid argument to accuse OP's boyfriend of doing such a thing with literally nothing else to base it on. Even after OP's reply it seems inconceivable to this commenter that someone would communicate with their loved one about something that is relevant for their lives. Because manipulative people exist, only in this story it looks like the mom is the main manipulator - but why doesn't he establish boundaries with his mom instead of calling his gf to tell her what his mom said about her baby trapping him and then him using your reply on his mom? Why can't he communicate to his mom that she is out of line on his own instead of using his GF words against his mom and possibly his moms words against his GF? To assume all people in relationships, having a surprise baby, or even getting married are in healthy loving relationships is mental, there are some red flags of manipulation and the commenter wanted to know for sure if the mom really is the problem because the bf is not doing what he needs to do to make this stop. Her bf is even trying to make her let his mom be involved against her wishes.

Because it does happen. He's clearly a Mommy's Boy and lacks common sense. So, frankly, does the OP. No one who gets pregnant (and NO, it's NOT a "1% chance" if one uses protection CORRECTLY) at 19/20 has a lot of brains. I wouldn't trust OP's version of events, especially since he's 20, still living with his mother, and has a kid on the way. Even if he's European or even Asian, which I suspect may be the case, and thus finishes university at 20/21, a job is NOT at all guaranteed. Based on OP's comments, the mother will likely be financially responsible for the child, hence why she's pissed. Manipulative or not, I agree with her. Once he starts seeing the real world, he may change his mind about having a kid at 21 with a 19-year-old who likely has NO job prospects. She's in theory NTA for her MIL's comments, but she and her BF are TAs for getting pregnant at 19. It was selfish, stupid, and abusive to the child, as he/she'll probably grow up in poverty and possibly without a father.

@@streamerssaymyname You are assuming that he hasn't tried to establish such boundaries. Boundaries take two: one to establish them and another to respect them. Sometimes mothers are just cases for r/entitledparents. But to be clear: I don't need to assume _any_ of that is actually the case, because of the facts mentioned in the story: OP mentions her bf will graduate soon. That means two things: 1. Stressful battles at home are probably the last thing he needs right now. 2. The problem will resolve itself short-term since OP mentions they want to move in together after his graduation. And to clarify another thing: I am _not_ in any way, shape or form assuming that _everybody_ who is expecting a baby or planning to get married is in a loving relationship. I _am_ saying that constructing a scenario around that assumption that only makes sense if they are not in a loving relationship in order to make the point that OP's boyfriend is manipulating her is blatantly circular reasoning and as such irrational.

The fact she walked into her sons room at 6 AM just to wake him up and badmouth his girlfriend… That woman is crazy. If she does end up being a part of your child’s life who knows all the bad mouthing about OP she’ll do to her grandchild. When OP starts showing is she gonna start with the whole “you’re not pregnant, you’re doing super attention, you’re just getting fat” Funny how she went through this good portion of the pregnancy talking shit but when she’s told she’s not involved anymore she quickly starts crying begging for forgiveness from everyone except OP. STORY 2: *YTA* This sounds like a tween complaining they didn’t get the exact cake they wanted for their birthday. Really telling how OP decided to waste characters talking about how much money her boyfriend used to have. If there is money struggles and boyfriend can’t afford to buy you the super expensive cake you want, just be grateful you get one homemade or one from the grocery store. If OP doesn’t want her super thoughtful and caring boyfriend because he is “too poor to afford her very expensive taste“ I’ll take him. STORY 3: *NTA* He took money from OP‘s account without asking, and it was emergency funds. That’s not fun money they could be spent on luxury items you don’t need. The way he’s acting is hilarious, he stole money from his wife’s account to buy himself something nice and sulked like a child when consequences reared its ugly head. STORY 4: *NTA* “I’ve seen her throw herself to the ground scream and cry until she can’t breathe and Rob treats her like a toddler holding her and tickling her to get her to stop” *She’s 35?!?!?!?!?* What the flying fuck! Maggie is literally a spoiled mean girl that never got put in her place and her dad is a straight up enabler. No Iplus on top of all the other shitty things Maggie did that Opie mention, how are you supposed to like your stepdaughter if she’s that much of a snarky bitch that has a crying fit over the dumbest things like having the same sweater as your stepsister but in a different color? Not to mention her attention seeking karen behavior at her stepsister’s wedding.
@llamabrat072 жыл бұрын
I agree with all of this. Hear story 4 on an other channel and some of the comments read there roasted OP for being upset that her husband spends every Christmas with Maggie and never does anything special for Chris for his other daughter. They were saying he doesn’t celebrate Christmas with either child, and celebrates their birthdays in an equal fashion. Which I say is bull. He neglects his new wife and daughter, ignores a major family holiday, just to make his older daughter happy. He coddled Maggie her whole life, is still doing so, allows Maggie to be disrespectful to OP and his daughter, and Maggie’s husband is continuing the pattern. Imagine being Maggie’s kids and they can’t celebrate Christmas because mommy’s birthday is so close to it. You can still make a December birthday special without having to sacrifice celebrating Christmas. Or whatever winter holiday your family celebrates. My dad is a December baby, and my mom’s birthday sometimes falls on Mother’s Day. We still celebrate their birthdays AND the holiday it falls near (or sometimes on the same day in my mom’s case).

Story 2: I agree... That OP really needs to stop & reflect on their relationship & priorities, particularly what she expects financially in a partner. That aspect of her relationship has changed dramatically since it began (her boyfriend going from a well paying secure job to being laid off). The way she describes everything makes it clear that is an issue for her. She is being very shallow & hurtfully ungrateful, placing more importance on the _specific expensive_ things she wanted (the dinner at the restaurant & the cake) than on the time, effort & love that went into making her a special dinner & a cake with help from his 13 year old daughter (which were both lovely gestures they went out of their way to do for her). She basically disregarded it & was disappointed because it wasn't exactly what she seems to believe she _deserves._ She needs to do this man & his child a favor & move on if her affection is contingent on what's being spent on her. They deserve better.

@streamerssaymyname2 жыл бұрын
The comment was asking if she witnessed his mother say rude things because people can turn around and lie about what is said in private to manipulate the relationships around them. The reply kind of makes it seem that the manipulation factor is true but the manipulator is the mom, the mom is bad talking both of them behind their back and likely says bad things about OPs BF to see if she could get OP to agree to something and find a way to sabotage the relationship. He doesn't necessarily need to tell her what his mom says all the time and I wonder if part of him is struggling to believe his gf over his mom so he needs to constantly run it by his gf what his mother claims she has said in private. Like her coming into his room and telling him she baby trapped him, why does he need to tell OP and then relay her reply to the mom? Part of this is him making his GF "the bad guy" by making her establish boundaries with his family when he is supposed to be the one getting his mom into line. She says he defends her, but he isn't setting up boundaries to keep this from continuing.

I understand he got a lower paying job, but then why is the solution for OP to move in and take up half the bills, instead of downsizing? Don't get me wrong, it's really horrible that OP can't appreciate a home-cooked meal & a homemade cake, but I am curious what this guy is doing with his income. Like, if OP were to walk out and they break up, how would he pay his bills if OP paying 50% of the bills still doesn't allow him to take OP out for a birthday dinner of any kind?

#1 OP is NTA, further MIL is and so are everyone else that thinks Op should let her be involved, they all can kick rocks. A first pregnancy can be stressful MIL is upset because she will have nothing to twist to make OP look bad.

Story 2: yeah. No. OP is an ungrateful AH. It's fine to feel a little disappointed that your birthday wasn't as fancy as you wish it could be. OP had completely unreasonable expectations.

For the first story: 1.) NTA for obvious reasons 2.) I actually heard this story earlier and one of the YTA comments literally called finding a ps5 an emergency because you’d have to spend weeks trying to find one and this same comment said that OP’s money isn’t JUST hers. She’s married now so finances are shared and some other bullshit like that.

The cake story... Wow what ungratefulness! This year, money was tight and I could barely afford the materials for my wife's cake, not to mention buying one. My vision was a 5 layer chocolate cake, with whip and strawberry between each. This part went good, though my plan was to use icing to create a classy mountain with a river flowing down and chocolate dipped pretzel sticks for trees... The result? Looked like I was having a grand maul seizure. I felt so terrible, but you know what? We had tho balloons and it was okay.

1. NTA No one has any right to be involved with anyone. Especially when you are nasty to them. 2. YTA When someone goes to the trouble to not only cook for you but bake you a cake also you have the NERVE to get upset? When you know he's having financial troubles. Don't be surprised OP if he leaves you. 3. NTA Husband stole from OP! I'd be furious. Gaming is great but a new console does not constitute an emergency. 4. NTA I don't ever remember throwing myself on the floor throwing a fit. If I saw a grown woman doing that, I might laugh at her for it. lol

Story 2- I turned 34 two weeks ago today. My friends and I are skint.. Me due to xmas and a recent life changing medical condition that has proven expensive. So, we went for a £7 carvery, food was delicious, company was great. Then we went to my friends house and listened to some metal and chatted. It was a really nice day. Good company is worth a load more than expensive meals. Op is TA.

That sounds like a pretty awesome birthday. For mine I bought 1 expensive bottle of Salted Carmel Liqueur (£25 is expensive at the minute), my friends bought a carry out and we drank and sat around playing Cards Against Humanity (Disney Edition).

Story 1: OP's boyfriend is the real MVP. Without him she wouldn't know what future mother-in-law truely thought of her and the baby. Hopefully she and the boyfriend will be able to find a place so they can go low-contact at the very least. Story 2: This is a great time to use the 𝓣𝓗𝓘𝓝𝓚 model. Is it 𝓣rue? Is it 𝓗elpful? Sounds like OP is stuck on when her bf was making 6 figures. Ik when you get accustomed to a certain lifestyle it is hard to let it go. But life doesn't work like that. I made a good amount and then because of health issues I went from 75 an hour to 15 an hour. I had to switch not only jobs but left my career. My husband was very supportive. We had to cut back. Then the virus hit and he was furloughed. Thankfully we owned our home. We no longer can go to thee opera ballet or getting the honey moon suit at our favorite hotel. But you know what? I like his meals his paper decorations and notes. This year he asked me for my recipes so he could cook on Thanksgiving since I had to work. He was so sweet and brought a pinic basket and a food warmer to my job and we had a priivate meal in my office. Now he surprised me with handmade cake his. Version of my favorite triple dark fudge cake with bittersweet rum chocolate icing. Lol he doesn't drink and isn't big on alcohol so he added a bit too much alcohol for eating at work. He apologized saying he didn't know where he went wrong. I told him when I get off work I'll share the cake and show him how the icing is made. I hadn't added in the directions set the rum on fire let it cool and hot sugar syrup and melted dark unsweetened chocolate stirring until well blended and alcohol no longer smells like rum but still has the rum taste. Oops.

A thought occurred to me about the last story.... I wonder deep down is the step daughter throwing a hissy fit because OP's own daughter just had a baby. ...like because of jealousy or feeling threatened/not the centre of attention.

Story 4: So I guess this is Veruca Salt as an 'adult'. I find it amazing that she somehow found a husband and has children, though it sounds like she doesn't interact with them and leaves it to the Nanny which is probably a lot better for them.

Story 4; I was so ready to say YTA for a bit. Cause as someone who’s learned more about ASD and neurodivergency in general the stepdaughter sounds like that. But then the wedding thing, plus the sweater thing and the fact your daughter has a new born I immediately jumped to NTA. But talk to your husband. That stepdaughter needs an evaluation and assessment with a professional. This isn’t behavior you can ignore.
