I was raised and still living in Atlanta. Fortunately my job in tech allows me to work 100% remote from home and I live in the city in the Midtown/Buckhead area. It wasn't always like this for me but the time spent acquiring the necessary skills and networking has paid off for me. I'm also investigating in real estate.

Born and raised in Atlanta/ DeKalb County, the population is increasing along with the prices. I was blessed to inherit and buy a few houses in Atlanta before the prices skyrocketed, now I get calls everyday from investors wanting to buy my houses. I'm hanging on to them but will be looking to move to a smaller city. In 2018 I was joking with friends that first time home-buyers will be buying houses in Griffin and Macon GA, had no idea it would become true. Not many natives left.

I hate hearing how the natives are being affected. I’m a Crawford Long (Emory) baby but I got to visit Atlanta as a kid many times. Especially as a kid in the 90’s. I imagine the 96 Olympics were the catalyst for a lot of what we are seeing today.

I'm originally born & raised in Atlanta but I moved away to the NYC area in 1990 (before the Olympics) to build my career. After 30 years, I'm moving back to Atlanta in a few months because my current position is allowing me to work from home virtually anywhere I want to live. With all of this growth I'm hearing that Atlanta is going to go through in the next few years, I hope there are plans to improve the traffic and public transportation.

I moved to metro Atlanta back in 2009 and it has drastically changed. Traffic has always been a problem all over and the only thing that really has happen is the widening of the interstates. I hope that Marta starts to really expand with the growth coming in. I also want to point out is that Atlanta is somewhat losing its southern hospitality, it felt more like a family. People saying hello, etc. But I see Everyone is just here to work. Anyway that's just my opinion, but I'm excited for the growth.

I’ve been living in atl since 1997. When I was born. It has definitely changed and is not the city I remember as a young girl. My younger years I stayed in dunwoody, then moved to Gwinnett then found my way all the way as far as Dacula now…. When I moved out I moved to east Decatur but since the pandemic hit prices have RISEN. Everyone who’s from here has left or is being pushed out. Most people I meet are bot from here, new housing has sprouted up everywhere but it’s all expensive, with studios starting around $900 and that’s if you’re lucky. Or even find a studio. Wages have not risen as much as rent has, for a lot of us. These higher paid jobs must be in tech, must be in finance.

I’ve lived in Atlanta since 1999. It’s always growing and changing. It’s also always planning and not following through ! Example is the Marta system expanding.....it didn’t happen. Novsre Group overbuilt the condos downtown -12 Atlantic station and all the condos in Midtown. So I’m confused. Lastly I live in Powder Springs and rent has increased greatly but it has everywhere. Belt line......they’ve been talking about h The belt line forever. No action!
@leedart
@leedart 2 жыл бұрын
Marta not expanding is because the state does not help fund it like every other system in the country. The city, Fulton Co, and Dekalb are funding Marta. Now as for the city and its maintenance and upkeep of its assets...., it's pathetic. I do believe that there is money mismanagement as well entities like GA Power that are getting over on the area and do not invest/improve the city fabric. Just look at all of the powerlines everywhere in town.........

@@leedart This explains a ton. Does the city help with the potholes? Peachtree street in Midtown is more than ridiculous. Lastly when Twelve Atlantic station was being built representatives came to Novare to discuss the marta bus going under Centennial Condos.
