URATA Shujiro (Chairman Emeritus and Distinguished Senior Fellow (specially appointed), RIETI / Professor Emeritus, Waseda University / Senior Research Advisor, Economic Research Institute for ASEAN and East Asia (ERIA))
The Research Institute of Economy, Trade and Industry (RIETI) and The Centre for Economic Policy Research (CEPR) signed an MOU in 2014 and have co-hosted the symposium annually.
This year's symposium will be held under the theme of "Future of Global Trade Order and Economic Security."
As economic globalization is reversed by the U.S.-China confrontation and Russia's invasion of Ukraine, the world trade order and economic security have become important themes in today's international community.
The symposium will feature speakers including Dr. Beatrice WEDER di MAURO, Director of CEPR, Dr. Jeffrey SCHOTT of the Peterson Institute for International Economics, Dr. URATA Shujiro, Chairman of RIETI among others. Participants will discuss how the EU and Japan can restore the troubled global trade order and how they can cooperate in economic security area.
