Wonder how many of the regression line financial analysts had no idea what he's saying, but were all in on mortgage backed securities in 2006

I'm an MBA graduate. Stick it in your ear, Sandy Munro. During my graduate program, my focus was on Tesla, SpaceX, and solar. I knew years ago watching the first Space X launches and the Model 3 announcement the world was about to change. I already have a solar-powered car. My PV is at my house and it powers my Model 3.

Video explains / gives examples of why Tesla can keep high profit margins and drop prices at the same time. They perform better at giving a better product and better price at the same time. It is rocket science. :)

I have owned 3 Teslas since 2018. I bought a Model Y performance, which was delivered in September 2022. Made in Fremont. At 500 miles the battery coolant hose disconnected and drained all of the battery coolant fluid. About 10 miles after that, despite the car’s message that it was safe to drive, and I needed to schedule service, the master control unit burned up. I guess it was liquid cooled. Maybe it’s because of the type of chips they’re using? The other almost hilarious lack of attention to detail is that it has three Pirelli tires and one Michelin tire I didn’t notice this until someone pointed it out at about 2000 miles. It seems to be running OK in spite of the mismatch. You just have to wonder how that happened? In the middle of the assembly they ran out of Pirrellis and added a Michelin or vice versa? That being said, when you look at the integration between superchargers and Teslas, I can understand about the integration in the factory with design and manufacturing of the car and the factory. That is pretty brilliant. From that standpoint, Tesla is quite a bit ahead. The worst thing that they have not been able to control for is Elon‘s diarrhea of the mouth, how can a guy who is obviously so smart be so dumb?

When you have FU money you do FU things. A friend of mine has a Chevy Bolt EUV. They come in either white or dark blue interior. His is special, the right side has white trim panels, the left is dark blue. Final assembly didn't notice, final inspection didn't notice, the dealer didn't notice, the sales staff didn't notice, the buyer didn't notice. I saw it the first time I saw the car, 4 months after he baught it with 3500 miles on the clock!

Can you explain why all teslas get a powertrain failure at around 60.000 to 100.000 miles ? whats with the inverters ?

With CATL that makes it 4 different battery manufacturers?

At this rate, the motor should be about 20-33% smaller to maintain similar power if the next gen platform car is using hairpin motors. Can also use a smaller battery, as well as making a lighter vehicle overall. Hard to quantify as it is up to Tesla to define the balance of design.

Did you notice how Elon's world dominating claim excluded Lucid based on price and/or class?
@Dave5843-d9m Жыл бұрын
Way back in the 1970s Brush Electric from UK was making rail freight locomotives that used ac drive motors. This was unheard of especially as these could move a 1000 ton coal train at 0.5 mph. You could head the power coils pulsing as they slowly turned. Engineers said the power electronics had the frequency response of a concert PA system. The massive question is why have automotive industry totally ignore electrical transmission systems? They could have been more efficient for less cost and even better with a battery. Instead we got the same parallel shaft gearbox with plate clutch and when hybrids did arrive they were cheaply bolt on the side. The motor industry has basically taken the P for at least 40 years. Churning out the same old same. They deserve to die.

That's not Tesla's way. The cheaper the better. This philosophy will eventually be their downfall.

Not really true anymore. Drove a lot over the years. Built in Cali still a problem sometimes. But thats bc americans can‘t really build quality - till now. Tom Zhou is the man.

Stop basing your opinion on 6 year old hearsay and read the latest reports from Germany and China. Any residual issues at Fremont (the inherited factory) will no doubt be down to that layout, or maybe just inferior American workmanship? Should be sorted out soon be the Chinese team they flew in recently.

The Chinese and Berlin plants have addressed this, quality is improving all the time !

It's a balancing act - they need a quality level that is 'good enough' for most of their buyers. New models with improved perceived quality can come later. A bit like the Ford Model T approach......

no. Lucid powertrain is crap, very expensive and not mass manufacturable.
@MegaWilderness Жыл бұрын
I suspect that Lucd's power train is protected by patents. They're copying VW ID4's motor and magnet design. At least Toyota knew about hairpins as well as most of the competition.
@darylfortney8081 Жыл бұрын
@@Poxenium looks pretty well designed and efficient to me. it has industry leading power per pound and power output per watt input. As far as i've seen it is also easier to mass produce than Tesla's carbon wound rotor.
@darylfortney8081 Жыл бұрын
@@MegaWilderness Really think Tesla should just buy Lucid at such a cheap price right now and incorporate their engineers and patented designs into Tesla's fleet where appropriate. They could also convert the Lucid factory to quickly produce a lot more Model 3 and Y while they are eligible for tax credit.
@MrMartin627 Жыл бұрын
@@darylfortney8081 There's a reason Lucid is losing money for each vehicle they sell, and aren't even producing 10% of what they should be producing if they don't want to go bankrupt. They do not respect manufacturing efficiency and costs into their designs or roadmap. It's easier to build a new factory than turn around lucid. Tesla has zero interest in buying them and no sane investor should stall their money there.
