Thank you for your kind words, Emily is sad to be off her team for the rest of the season, but relieved to be away from the situation. You have reminded her to keep her chin up and work hard to prepare for next season where she will hopefully have a more understanding team/coaching environment. I honestly can’t thank you enough, Emily is now your biggest fan for life. Thanks coach Keeks!

Steve I don’t comment much on anything but using your “toys” and seeing it from above like that really made it easy to grasp n get it. I really appreciate it. I’m an older goalie that just signed his first pro contract that has never had any kind of goalie coach. I am greatful for the time you put into these videos n giving back. Even though I’m a rookie I’m one of the oldest on the team and I preach to them it’s cool we made it but let’s help the next guy and generation make and inspire. I tell them stay motivated, hungry, and humble. I am now going to Google to see what these toys are and where to get them for myself. Again TY

Such a great educational video and so easy to make. It's nice that you speak out against bullies, it can be a huge problem for young players. So, where did you buy this "rink", it's a great way to learn the game of hockey.

Great video. Any advice on not biting on the fake shot on those 2-1’s. I find I’ve got a tendency to over commit to the shooter, drop to my knees, and remove any possibility of getting over to make the save on the pass.
@FutureProGoaltendingUSA
@FutureProGoaltendingUSA Жыл бұрын
Unless the shooter has the stick blade open square to you it is a fake. Even if you do mistakenly bite on the fake, it is 100% on the D to get the pass. It is THEIR goal if they don’t do their job. Of course you still try but any pass though D to back door is 0% your fault

Great video. Great fundamentals that everyone on the team should know but how does a goalie in his 40’s communicate this to his defence/team? I’m getting burned on 2 on 1’s because defence doesn’t stop passes and also getting burned on passes across the Royal road….. several times per game. It’s like my defence has never played before.

Great video, coach! Got a quick one for you... after the 2-1, you talked about being able to take more depth if it's an even coverage situation. My question for you is how would you play this in beer league when the offensive player is a bit of a hotshot dangler and your defense can barely skate backwards? Too many times I've taken depth only to have my defense look like a pylon and now I can't get over to the far side and it's an easy tap-in. Is it best to play this more like a 2-1 situation where you are respecting the back door option? How would you recommend talking to my defense about how to play this to give us our best chance?
@FutureProGoaltendingUSA
@FutureProGoaltendingUSA Жыл бұрын
You need to adjust to YOUR personnel and their. Personnel… in my case in a beer league game I would prevent Ricky Rocket at all costs from scoring, and wouldn’t bat an eye at letting backdoor guy score. That is in the D and I would sleep like a baby that night with my GAS meter on 0….. 😎

So, I have a question about the Middle First section of your analysis. With Sundin behind the net, all things being equal, Giguere would be in an RVH most of the time with a play behind the net, in close. So when Sundin sends it out to Phaneuf, the save selection would be a butterfly slide for if Phaneuf's close but coming up to your feet into a T-Push to the top of the crease if Phaneuf is further out, right? Now that's where my question is. I don't get a lot of chances to look off the puck when a guy's back there, so if I had to make a default save selection from the RVH in this scenario, would you recommend a butterfly slide and try to get my upper body as big as I can at the top of the crease in case the puck is coming from further out? All of it is still happening bang-bang and in, but would that better my chances any?

@@FutureProGoaltendingUSA Beer league goalie here. Pass comes out front, I get depth to cut off the angles for the shooter, but he taps it back to the guy behind the net who has now come up to the corner of the net for an easy put in behind me... I would tend to split the difference than be too far out of the net for someone to sneak in behind...
