The way you break everything down with straightforward terms is such an underrated skill, it really shows the contrast between a true professional coach and self-labeled coaches who are more concerned with throwing out buzzwords than actual coaching. It makes it so much easier to understand as a viewer and apply that knowledge on the ice. Loved the discussion and hearing Bonesy's perspective of two of my favourite goalies, both of whom are criminally underrated. Can't wait to get my ass kicked next month!

This is a great video that I will have to watch a couple of times to fully absorb the information you are giving us. Incredible how obvious the angle becomes the moment you lay the stick on Dustin's pad to show the trajectory of the puck. Love watching the two of you chat about the high level game of the pros. Amazing video. Loved seeing how well Dustin projects his glove and blocker forward allowing him the best opportunity to track the puck where he needs to be. And in a lot of ways I think he is selling himself short on saying he doesn't have anticipation on his save selection. From what I am seeing, good positioning and footwork on these drills shows how little he needs to make adjustments. But as an good goalie would say, Bonesy included, he has things to improve upon. Always making himself a better goalie today to be an excellent goalie tomorrow. Good on you Keeks and excellent workout and interview Bonesy.

Great video. I’ve already passed it along to my kids (They’re not MY kids). Nice catch on the weak stick work. The use of aerial angle on the blocker side is one of my boy’s weaknesses. He’s a shorter goalie so I hope seeing this video will help boost him because he’s VERY determined.

Hey keeks why is the modern nhl style called hybrid when almost none of them use any stand up tactics like meaning to kick save, the pad seal where they close their legs when there is a shot going 5 hole, going on 1 knee instead of 2 ect

Thank you for another great vid! Observation at 16:00 "big guy moving around more, think it should be the other way around". Agree the big lads should have to move less. Lehner do not move so much though, but that is more about that he is 245lbs. My 5 Swedish kronor (a krona not worth much these days...) on this is that 1, the "special forces height 5,9" goalies, do not have the luxury to not be precise. They got to do right all the time. Kicking in open doors, I know you know :D. 2, lads over 190 cm due to of how they are built, have a harder time to be as exact when moving. They just can not move as Saros. A 6,3 goalie moving like Saros would be the greatest goalie of all time. I dont know if it is allow to put in a link. Just erease if not allowed please. It is an 18 year old goalie in the KHL (175 cm 5,9). That level of clean movement demands an elite gymnastic physic. And elite gymnastic rarely are 6,4. Kirill has similar style as the goalie in SHL with the best average the last two seasons before covid, Lassinanti (also 5,9). Thanks for a realy good episode! BR. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rIrQh6t6dsiLlZI

I have a few players in our community that absolutely eat my lunch. Trying to figure out how to stop them has been my bane. One of them gave me the advice to stay out and challenge more, forcing them to make a move opposed to collapsing and giving them the choices.

Correct advice.... make mental notes of the 4-5 moves they love and look for trigger tell tale signs. And make sure you use fake poke checks and the odd real one to keep them a little less comfortable

@FutureProGoaltendingUSA
@FutureProGoaltendingUSA 3 жыл бұрын
Many, Many goalies that get to the NHL and do well early (Hart, Mason) eventually come up with rough patches. Often, because they didn’t have 200 games in the AHL where they figure out how to play well, regardless of up or down trends they struggle in the NHL getting out of funks. It is a rare for a goalie with significant learning time in the AHL unable to have quick bounce backs from slumps..
