@ADVENTURESOFBZ, he’s pushing toward 30. I’m more than twice his age, and if there’s one thing I would like to tell him, it would be use proper body mechanics and lifting techniques. It’s hard to do when you’re young and can just brush the pain off and heal quickly, but the accumulative effect over time will get ya. Spinal fusion is no fun.

Hey brother love your videos! Definitely a new subscriber to your channel. I cannot tell you how much I miss commercial fishing. I started out fishing on a 76ft charter boat at 11 years old and then graduating to running the boat along with numerous other vessels. In between working on the charter boats, i had my own 32 ft flat deck clam boat with an inboard motor and a small wheel house. I cannot tell you how bad I miss the industry!!! Good work mate! Just some advice when towing,. You should always cross your safety chains when towing, left one goes to right shackle on vehicle and right goes to left. I'm not sure if its the law to do so in the US but in Australia it is. The main reason to cross them is because it will act like a cradle if the trailer comes off the ball and wont let it dig into the road and flip your car. The second is it reduces strain when turning.

That particular issue is not addressed in federal law. It falls to each state to create its own regulation on how to handle trailer safety chains. I know in my state it is required to cross them.

Hiya, listen for the rudder. Get a shop to make you a simple brass bushing. You can use that with a grease fitting and it will last you well. Another way is a bit bigger brass bushing with a sealed roller bearing in the top and another in the bottom of the brass. Bolt in place with your original clamp system and for maybe a hundred dollars, never have another problem.... Have a great one.

If they don't make it or you can't buy it make it yourself! I remember working in the York River with my dad as a kid. We had a 42' Chesapeake Deadrise with a 671D Detroit. It was setup for clamming. The Hyster was built from the rear-end of a Ford Grand Torino. Where many other watermen had hydraulic Hyster where you could take your foot off the pedal and the tongs would remain stationary. Dad's would go back to the bottom. I got out when the VAMRC came out with that authority card that had to be purchased before you could get a catch license (a license to get a license). I didn't fully appreciate what we had back then.

Just a small suggestion....... Drill a hole for a grease zerk in the plastic right at the rudder shaft. That way you can grease the shaft once in a while. If you feel the need or in your boat check before you go out. Oh yeah, use marine grease. Like the grease you use in wheel bearings for a boat trailer. Great engineering! Use what you got, try not to buy anything.

Grand parents had a place on the point on Rockaway Beach, so I got to go there for the summer for many years. Love Maryland style steamed crabs to this day. Mind you I'm 69 years old. Back in the 80's those families that worked the water were some of the more wealthy families. They usually had nice homes on the water and nice trucks. Your channel brings back lots of memories.

The Key bridge! Here’s my story. My wife and I took a trip out to Baltimore many years ago to visit my Pop over Thanksgiving. We along with my brother and his wife went bar hopping and on the way back to the motel my bride decides it was a good time to get sick on the Key bridge. My brother pulled over, I got her out of the car and she proceeded to chum the Chesapeake. I was amazed as she hurled her contents as the cleared the bridge beams went from vertical to horizontal. I hollered at my brother to check it out. His wife was squalling because she was scared shitless of bridges and my wife was emptying her guts while yelling at me because I thought it was funny and everyone else should join in the fun. Good times.😊

Thats Devoe formula 121 red vinyl bottom paint. A military grade they don't make anymore. Very good stuff however, you painted directly over all the metal parts, rudder and struts. You need to put a epoxy primer on first, then the bottom paint. By putting it on directly like that any metal that the copper bottom paint comes into contact with is going to be eaten away. That's your electrolysis problem. Not the marina. Need to haul back out and strip all that bottom paint off and coat it with the barrier primer coat first. Zinc will last longer. I did the same mistake with my first boat when I was 19. Paid a huge price 10 years later.

Do you run shore power when in the dock Luke? If so, get a isoaltor. Look into what happens to your anodes when using shore power in a dock. Seriously. The eloctrolosis issue is the leach across ground in shore power. You can put a simple isolator on the boar and it'll stop hose annodes from getting decimated.

For your rudder bushing you should drill the hole out with a tapered bit so it will align with the rudder shaft perfectly to reduce the vibration. Also grease would help with the noise and longevity. Love the videos tho. Keep on crabbin

The cage on your trailer is a great idea. I’m just wondering why you had so much trouble roping them on? It should only take 15 min if you’re doing it right. You need a long enough rope and enough hooks welded underneath, Preferably a hook per stack. Then a cross ❎ at the back. Oh and dolly knots or truckers knots (same thing) the only thing you have to be careful of is not to crush your pots while tightening them down. Any way you have the cage now so it’s irrelevant 😂
