I am a 47 year old shooter with a lot of guns, also pcp airguns. Now I bought my first FX (dreamline lite .30) and its ready to optimize/tune. So I do my research to reduce mistakes, maybe expensive mistakes ;-) So I found your channel and before I take hands at the first time at my FX, I think I am able to to a lot of things now. Thank you very much! Yes, I also saw your video about FX dl before 👍👌and it opened my eyes more about this great rifle 🙂 greetings from germany

Steve, great vid, was seriously pleased to see you pick up where Ernest left off in regards to tuning the Crown. I mean no disrespect to Ernest when I say that it’s simply that he focused more on the Impact and it’s subsequent release and modifications. I would add that the “Letters” on the Power Wheel add even more fine tuning as they place the cam at a point in between the individual “Numbers”. So basically Max, “A”, “5”, “B”, “4” etc. increment the cam with even more subtleties, about as close as we Crown owners will get to the Impacts Valve Spring adjuster. I’ll have to set up my LabRadar and run off a few shot strings using those sequential number letter settings and post it on AGN, well unless you beat me to it! Again great job, thanks! George

After owning a Dreamline for a year, your tuning recommendations are making a lot more sense. Tuning can be frustrating at first. I’ve watched this video and the Dreamline video at least 3 times. There’s a lot of valuable information in them. Thanks!

It took me 3 sittings to complete the video but way worth it. The detailed knowledge share on tuning was incredible. Not only for the Crown, but for any gun that allows for adjustments. Great video! I tried to purchase the Crown Continuum package with a GRS stock and everywhere I checked it was at least a 3-10 month back order. I found and purchased and just received my new FX Crown Mark II .22 caliber, 600mm barrel, with the GRS stock and I love it! This video was very helpful to me in tuning my Crown for the best accuracy. My Crown has the new rear power adjustment dial that has 24 different levels. I now know the best settings to use for the various pellets I shoot. I also use the FX radar chronograph and I love it!

Hi, a newbe airgunner here. Got the Gamo Coyote, and having a lot of fun! But... falling in love with this gun! I'm located in Norway, and not (yet) gun licensed, so .177 is my only option. I was looking at the dreamliner (about 1000$) as a 50 year anniversary gift to myself, but for $ 350 more I can get the Crown. It's not just gonna be a gun, but also a "work of art " on my wall. Thanks for this awesome tutorial! Also.. big ups to all, on how to deal with a troll like gildeman! No anger, just pity, "understanding" and facts! Awesome response from the airgun community to a sad, unhappy person! Greetz and good health from Norway! :)

Thank you Steve. I don't know if I have ever watched a You Tube video of this length before today but it was worth every minute for me. I just got my FX Crown Continuum MKII .25 cal. Black Pepper Laminate three weeks ago and I love it. This video was more like an instructional college course in FX air gun set up and no where near an advertisement for FX Airguns, which by the way, I had already decided to buy before I ever saw this video. I was most interested in the caliber change segment and slug barrel liner how to. Thanks for making it a simple process. P.S. I'm now a subscriber.

Thank you again. I took your advice (prior video you did which i only saw last week) and looked up this one to find more updated info in barrel changing and interplay between hammer spring and reg pressure and you explained it extremely well. I have watched this video a few times and "get it". I think this type of adjustability in an airgun and what will inevitably follow will do much for the airgun world. It is a very cohesive explanation.

Nice video...for the Chrono, the FX Chrono is actually seeing the pellet directly at the muzzle and the LabRadar is seeing several feet in front of the muzzle. This means the FX Chrono is actually more useful and accurate. It’s why the FX Chrono usually has a higher baseline velocity....you loose several FPS by the time the Lab Radar picks up the pellet. Now if they would just make it work from 500 to 4000fps they would force LabRadar out of business!
@jens.schmitt4 жыл бұрын
Hello Steve, Great vid, thank you, especially the tuning section, even if you got mixed up with the terms every now and then. Great as well the explanation how you get to a good tune. Maybe one point where I would come to a different conclusion than you did: At the point where you crank up the hammer spring pre-tension by turning in the small grub screw in the power wheel and the turn up the reg to 150 bar: the fact that the first several high settings don’t change velocity is due to the fact that the hammer hits so hard, that all (regulated) air in the plenum is exhausted. Only when the curve begins to incline, the regulated air quantity in the plenum chamber is not fully exhausted due to less hammer force. This explains also that when cranking up reg pressure to 160 bar, the curve starts to incline earlier (hammer spring force is relatively weaker against regulated pressure - man you’re right, not really easy to explain simply...). Nevertheless, the tuning section is my favorite in this video, I’d like to encourage you for more. Ah yes, and thanks for all the hard work getting all these videos done and online for us. Greetings from France

Thanks for all the details Steve - they will come in handy! Just ordered a .22 caliber walnut Crown MK2 (with the 500 mm barrel) and a Elements Helix scope. The Helix is solid (and hefty, - love them - this is my 3rd one) but on a light rifle like the Crown it will still come in under 9 pounds ready to shoot. Should be an excellent squirrel gun. Plan on shooting 16 and 18 grain JSB pellets most of the time but will be testing 25 grain slugs and pellets (just because I can :) ). Was considering the Daystate Wolverine R HP and the RAW HM-1000X but neither of the two are as "tuner friendly" as the Crown. During my research I was surprised how many PCPs are still not regulated and lack easy access for tuning. Guess my Impact has spoiled me. Take care Steve!

Well Steve all I can say is thank you for all the time and hard work that you put into your videos. I will be getting my Contuum this week at last. I am normally a Daystate chap and collect them so this is a first for me. Why well all I can say you have talked me into it lol. I must have watched this video 20 or 30 times one of my barrels has been taken down to 300mm instead of 380 in .22. I very rarely tune my rifles as I’m loath to cause damage to expensive rifles but with this rifle and you video I feel confident doing it. Ironically I would tune a powder burner in a heart beat strange or what.

@heathhalfhill68674 жыл бұрын
I would greatly appreciate your advice on an FX air gun. You have access to and experience with more guns than I do and your knowledge about them has my deepest respect. I have been thinking about buying a .25 caliber FX gun for a while now and have been following forums and videos about 4 different guns they put out. 1 is the Wildcat 2. Impact 3. Crown 4. Dreamline Bullpup. These guns all have pro and cons. I need a gun that will be reliable, powerful meaning able to push a 28 grain to 900 FPS, all of course are accurate which is why the FXs are in my crosshairs. I want a gun that is woods hunting ready but able to go to the range and be awesome. That in its self leans toward a bullpup design. It such a hard choice. I just bought the LCS Sk-19 in .22 and really it does everything so good and checks all the boxes for me and honestly is the last gun I really need to buy. The problem is I want every air gun I see and if I keep thinking about a certain gun obviously I must need another one. It kinda like Lays potato chips “ you can’t have just one”. I have several other PCPs but all but one are in .22. I have one .25 and it’s the Bullboss and it’s unregulated, heavy, and loud. I want it gone like yesterday really and want to replace it with a long range or 100 yard critter getter/target tack driver. All the guns I listed as next purchase choice are good guns. Low maintenance, reliability, are issues FX doesn’t have the best reputation for if you follow the forums. So, of the ones I listed, if you were buying just one, which would you want...this doesn’t mean I’m going out and buying it but it would mean a lot to hear your opinion on the one you would get. Shot count is kinda killing the Wildcat but it is still an option. The Impact has like 40+ O-rings and is from the forums a pain in the butt to tune and keep working. The Dreamline are limited when it comes to power. The Crown would be in synthetic because the woods just too pretty to get scratched. Hard calls each and everyone. HELP!!!
@larrywcollins2 жыл бұрын
I have the FX Wildcat synthetic mk2 in .25cal Compact 500mm with the Donny Sumo Moderator, and use it mostly off-hand. Very nice...scoped with the Hawke Airmax Compact 4-16x44, and a 880 lumen light on bottom picitany rail. I shoot JSB 25.39gr and avg. 895 FPS. I typically get 4, 8 shot mags ( also mounted on the top rail...from Donny) per 230 bar fill. The Wildcat is light and easy to carry at 8lbs 7 ounces shoot ready.. Accuracy is great out to 100yards. Excellent "Woods Walker". .... Recently purchased the Impact M3 in .25cal 600mm standard with FX Donny Moderator in bronze. I like the larger magazine and many adjustments. I shoot the 25.39 JSB pellets at around 910FPS, on setting 6 hammer wheel with 1st reg at 155 and 2nd reg at 112. I also shoot the JSB 33.95 at same reg settings on the Impact M3 but set the hammer wheel at 12 and get good accuracy at 895 FPS. I chose the Hawke Airmax 6-24x50 and upgraded the grip to a larger size. The M3 Impact is for me more of a bench gun because its heavier at 9lbs 2 oz. Shoot ready. I love the accuracy and look, but I generally like the Wildcat mk2 for quick hunts and overall "feel" .......However, I saved my favorite off-hand rifle for my last comment...and that is my 3rd pcp, the FX Crown Gen 2 500mm synthetic. 22.cal with the picitany rail and the Hawke Airmax 4-16x44 Compact scope with FX Donny Moderator, and reg. set at 130. Only 8 Lbs 2oz shoot ready!, shoots 18.13gr. JSB pellets at 885 FPS on Max on Hammer wheel or 15.89gr. JSB at 5 on Hammer wheel at 900FPS. I really like the balanced feel of the Crown and the superb accuracy as well. The 500mm barrel is a little long, with the Moderator, but the newer 380mm barrel is perfect. I recently got to hold one and really liked it. After 2 plus years in this sport, I am still learning every time I spend time behind the trigger..... .25cal is great if you have a little wind, and bucks the wind somewhat better at 75+ yards, however....if light wind or 25 to 50 yard shots the 22.cal kicks less, and feels smooth and almost jewel like. Hope these shared comments help.

Hi Steve, nice job but one question......why do you think FX didn't include a slug barrel rather than making the long barrel a "pellet" barrel? Slugs are what we all want to shoot, and now that means several hundred dollars in addition to do so. Just asking, thanks!

Hey steve. Another awesome review. Really appreciate all the time and effort you put into all your videos. I have an fx crown .25. I currently have the ref set at 120. And hammer spring set at 5. And it’s doing around 860 FPS with 600mm standard smooth twist x barrel. Do you think I can get around this power on a lower reg setting making my gun more air efficient but still getting the same accuracy and power I’m getting now on the higher settings? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks Steve regards Sean

Deaczorz, for large decreases (or increases) on the hammer spring, you need to not just turn the wheel presets, but the macro adjustment with an allen wrench. This is a great video to walk you through it. Really straight forward: kzbin.info/www/bejne/rqnVdY2jd5qYnbc

I'm referring to the hammer spring as to adjustment of power. Just ordered the crown continum MKII in 25 cal.
@AEAC4 жыл бұрын
There's much more to it than that Anthony. As shared in this vid, tuning is a balance of regulator setting and internal & external hammer spring adjustments. Increasing HS tension can increase or decrease velocity depending on how everything else is set up. One just has to do the work as outlined in this video. My Avenger tuning guide and upcoming Dreamline tuning guide may also be of help to ya. There's no short cutting it unfortunately... watch and learn 😊👍 Steve

@@AEAC Thxs Steve, did OK with the avengers following your vids, and I understand there's more to it. I just didn't catch the part as to which way the hammer spring screw needs to be turned for lowering or upping the power. I have both avengers in 22 and 25, and I have them tuned to 900 FPS with pellets and 800 FPS shooting slugs and I get hole in hole with both guns @ 55 yrds. I plan on upping my game/shooting with the crown which is a whole new ball game. Wanted to drop the power and then tune it to my discretion using the hammer spring and the regulator and the power wheel.

Sir, what is the difference between the Crown MK2 and the Crown continuum?
@keithrush41684 жыл бұрын
Steve. First, thank you for all the reviews you do. I am looking at getting the Continuum in .22 and possibly shoot some Field Target with it, so I wanted to ask about the allow pellets you shot. Those groups were extremely tight at 25 yds and the speed was there as well. Not sure what the energy level was. I’ll go back and calculate that, but I wanted to ask if you shot any groups at 50yds with them with the 380mm barrel off camera and how they grouped at that distance? Thanks, Keith
@AEAC4 жыл бұрын
Hi Keith. The GTOs seem to work well in anything the JSBs do... even at 50 yards and beyond. The 2 challenges are wind and the quick loss of energy over distance. But that can be a good thing too. Steve

Great Video as always... I respect your input... Which is the most accurate in your opinion? .22 cal .25 cal or the .30 cal?

Great video. This one, and one by Southern Gunner, convinced me that this is the PCP rifle I have been looking for. I have an Air Arms TX200, and a Hatsan 125 Vortex Sniper, both in .22 cal. I have been avoiding the PCP guns because of the expense involved to charge the things. I'm almost 70, and revisiting my days of pumping up a truck tire with my bicycle pump does NOT feel warm and fuzzy to me. That said, I believe I will have fun learning to get the most out of this rifle. My son got me a ProChrono digital chronograph for my birthday, so I should be all set. Just one question remains, and the answer eludes me: .22 or .25 cal? Other than slightly higher pellet cost, is one inherently more accurate than the other, out to , say, 150 yds?
@AEAC4 жыл бұрын
Thanks 😊.. the 25 will be better in the wind if ya need to go to 150 yards but me personally, I like the .22 efficiency for hand pumping.
@garyhenderson65044 жыл бұрын
@@AEAC If all things are otherwise equal, I will stick with .22 cal. I'm not ever likely to shoot this puppy beyond 75 yds. That said, I would stick with my TX200 before I ever pumped up a PCP rifle by hand.

About 150 bar as a max is probably best to adhere to. I've seen people go as high as 160 but it's not advisable.

If there is no movement of the hammer spring when going from min to the first click, aren't you wasting one click? Wouldn't it be better for it to just barely start to move on that first click past min? It seems like that would be to have that cam just barely touching the hammer spring in the min setting.

Thanks for another very helpful video; even though you made it a while ago, it is still valuable. I have several questions, please. One, can you compare the report of the 380 mm and 700 mm barrels to the .22 Benjamin Marauder-my only reference point. Two, at the time of my writing, the MKII has come out. If there was a decent deal for a used 2020 Crown Continuum, do you think it’s worth a try? Also, do the Crowns that came out in the spring or summer of 2020 (your model and the one I am looking at) have the new and lighter carbon fiber barrel housing. I know I am asking a bunch of questions, so thank you kindly for any response.
