When FX first began in 1994, it was the original home for ancient shows and live original programming when it was based in New York City until Fox moved FX's operations to L.A. in the late-1990's.

Man was cable amazing in the 80s and 90 s. I remember when FX aired reruns of 21 Jump Street, Buffy, etc but I am too young to remember everything they aired. I didn't even know they aired classic shows in the beginning!! And I definitely don't remember the live shows and news!!

They need to bring the old FX Network back. Miss all the original programing like Breakfast Time and the classics. Nothing like it on tv now

I remember being 12 at the time this station premiered; I stayed up all night flipping between various channels. The shows felt more intimate, especially the morning show; they literally brought you into their home.

I successfully convinced my parents to add fX to the family cable subscription in 1994, merely for the reruns of Batman 1966, but once available, really enjoyed the live programing and additional line up of shows. A bygone era of inventive cable television!

i was in 6th grade and i thought this was the most amazing concept for a channel. loved it. 'the fall guy' and 'green hornet' in the daytime; 'in living color' at night. thanks for posting these segments and ads, Maljardin.

1994 was the yr that the 90s officially move on from the 80s. I remember being a 5yr old kid when fx premiered with its interactive 24 hour TV. Seeing a 1960s batman blew my mind and watching in living color right as it just had got canceled was dope. Fx first 3 or 4 years was dope. I remember some of these commercials like yesterday. Tv sucks now.

Ahhh... Cool to see your FX vid... I was 19/20 years old .. just moved out of my parents house literally the same month June of 94 when the FX network started and really liked just about all the shows they played along with the hosts watching the shows and commenting on them during commercial breaks and even the original programming they had too. 24/7 live tv was a pretty cool concept then and might make things interesting still if the live networks weren't only News stations ie.. CNN/FOX/MSNBC.... Enjoyed rainy saturdays watching Fx in the mid 90s!! Eight is enough, Fantasy Island., Grizzley Adams, Greatest American Hero and Family Affair.. the good old days. Eliie Devers and Lauri Hibberd too!

I started as an intern at fX before it was even on the air. It was an amazing experience. The natural high in that office was intense. We were putting a network on the air for the first time. My first few days there my job was to follow Tom Bergeron around and get or do anything he needed. I worked on Breakfast Time and Under Scrutiny with Jane Wallace. Was friends with so many great people including Jeff Probst, genuinely a good dude. Harry Connick Jr. was there playing the piano on live TV and I picked up my beautiful friend Kathleen and placed her on the piano and she was bopping along as he played. We did an interview with Gorbachev in the presidential suite of the Waldorf-Astoria hotel. It was a great experience!

Wow! What great memories you must have! For me I moved into my first apartment at age 19 in Eugene, OR. .. the same day FX premiered.. got my keys the night before and was unpacking all my stuff and getting my apartment organized while watching Breakfast Time and the shows that day... was a really cool concept with the live commercial chatter and original live shows. I have so many nostalgic memories of the 80's an 90's and FX network ranks right up there.

You can say that again. Trust me, I can relate. FX Channel eras... Classic rerun era (1994-1997) - Okay News Corporation (20th Century Fox/Fox Network rerun) era (1997-2001) - The best Original programming era (2002-) Decent, I guess 21st Century Fox era (after the News Corporation split) (2013-2017) - Less victorious Disney era (2017-onwards) Downfall That's my timeline on how FX's attempt came to be.
