Fantastic lesson here. Every investor needs to learn their personal temperament and be honest with themselves. Never sacrifice your peace of mind for a trade. Only buy positions you have strong conviction in. Managing an investment portfolio is like being a captain of a ship. There will be rough seas and huge swells, you have to remain calm and keep the ship pointed in the right direction, not panic and return to shore.

I tried options a couple of times, I found it was house odds, you were statistically under water from the get go and really had to make a great call to come out ahead so unbiased leverage seems the better option. Also the options market seemed very illiquid. Only a few were on offer and it took a while to close them again.

I think you're totally right to ditch the options and just be a buy and hold guy, that's awesome, that's a great example to set and it's great you're willing to change your mind and own it, that's a superpower. Imo some people collect baseball cards or Elvis memorabilia, I just like collecting stock certificates and you gotta get the best ones.

Hey Gali, glad to see you posting more these days! In addition to my TSLA stock, I also own several thousand TSLL shares, which is a 2X TSLA Bull Leveraged ETF. TSLL moves at roughly twice the percentage that TSLA does (up and down though). I prefer holding TSLL over playing Options because there's no expiration date. I'm up over $370,000 on my TSLA and TSLL just today! Yay! 😃

There’s a lot to be humble about. I made money today but I’m not excited about Tesla going all in on autonomy. It’s now apparent there is no $25k car with pedals and a steering wheel, I have two Model 3s with FSD and watch progress daily- it’s not ready yet , I disengage all the time for a variety of reasons including the constant warning message of FSD being degraded and I live in California where the weather is great. I wish I could be more excited but will have to watch from the sidelines with all the recent engineers who recently quit.

Would really appreciate an in depth video on abnb stock. I'm a host, I love the company and also believe in the long term renter opportunity. The problem is, in the Netherlands, there are so many laws blocking these opportunities that are very difficult to change.

Gali, Options have their place and purpose. I'll be buying TSLA put options (on Nov 4th or 6th) that expire Nov 8. No one knows for sure the election outcome. I want to protect the $40 a share gain I just got. Paying $5 a share is well worth it. The stock will most likely react one direction or the other. If it goes up, yippy, my shares go up in value and my put options are paid for. If it goes down, I will capture some of the value I would have lost. Leap calls are not that great of a gamble if you have high confidence in the company's future. However they can be expensive and getting beyond the break-even strike can be risky. Much less risky is SELLING long term puts. You are offering a sevice and get paid for it. Essentially you become "the house" and as we know the house most often wins.

Just make sure when you sell puts you have the cash to buy the shares at expiration if you need to. Otherwise it is a world of hurt if the stock sinks far below the expiration and you get margin called.

@@tkbuz yes, very true. It is proper to have the cash because anything can happen. But I wouldn't advise selling puts unless you have really good rational that the company is headed for a growth cycle and/or you're not planning on holding them to expire date. I don't know about abnb, but TSLA looks promising that way over the next year or two.

Gali; You made a mistake saying you can't do well at options. Firstly I was 73 before I started trading. That was early 2019 & I bought as much Tesla as I could. You had me so pumped. Only about a year ago I learned how to do Options and it has been phenomenal ! Most people get greedy with it & lose a lot of $$. If it's done properly you can make money every week and if it goes wonky, you can buy yourself out of the contract & re-position. Simple. No need to ever lose $$.
