I tried almost all the mount solutions on the market: brp, custom, setback plates, etc. The Holley system that is built-in for truck intake, accessories, and the 4L80E is the way to go.

Interesting take on the crossmember. I actually had both a Holley and the Gen 2 G Force crossmember in my hands. I actually did a video comparison that I have yet to post. But in my opinion the G-Force is way better design hands down. with much better fitment. I didn't like the cheesy design of the Holley plus the bolts didn't line up properly.

Did the passenger side coil bracket hit your ac box? Mine does, even if i shave it down. Too close for comfort.

i just got the 302-3. new super low profile pan. clears a 4" stroke crank that the -2 doesn't. and it comes with 2 half-inch pipe thread turbo oil drains already tapped into the pan just forward of where your return is ran. slick piece for sure just takes a little windage tray trimming

Chip Currey I'm using the Transdapt frame mount, Energy Suspension engine mount, and LSX Innovation block adapters with 4 positions. My frame has been modified by the previous owner so hopefully no issues. I think the CTS-V pan may hang slightly below the crossmember but doubling the cost to the Holley pan is hard to justify. I see what your saying about your setup and mounts. JD

I’m doing the same exact setup but I have a regal limited v6 . What bushing u using on ur trans cross member.?? N is that trans cooler good for the 4l80 ? I heard the trans doesn’t like them.. can’t I just use the original rad setup? Also can I use the original hard fuel lines cause I’ve noticed every one goes with new lines.???
@ChipAndBytes3 жыл бұрын
Using a factory transmission mount for a TH400 in a 70 Chevelle - can get them at any parts store. I have never had a problem with the cooler or transmission. You can try the radiator setup if you want.
@av8bud6 жыл бұрын
Hi Chip, just tried putting this pan (302-2) on the 5.3 i am rebuilding to go in my 83 El Camino. Wanted to make everyone aware, it wouldn't fit on my engine. the front part of the pan makes contact with the piston rod cap bolt, just barely but enough so that i couldn't hand crank the engine. I tried trimming the windage tray but no luck. Since it may be risky to shave down that bolt, i'm going to try swapping it with the 302-1 and see if that works. Hopefully it will have enough clearance around the frame when i put it in the car. A thicker pan gasket may be all that's needed but just wanted everyone to know that it may not fit your engine.
@CountyGarage2076 жыл бұрын
did you ever figure this out? I have read of guys cutting off that part of the windage tray completely

what brackets and mounts do you recommend for 68 pontiac lemans. ??? thanks
@ChipAndBytes7 жыл бұрын
Pontiacs are really hard because the shape of the BOP transmission bellhousing is much different. my dad had a 67 gto. we used Holley's mounts and pan but had to raise transmission tunnel for the 4L60E. I don't know how much different a 68 is, but be prepared for it to be more difficult than a Chevelle - all the mounts are test fitted on Chevy's since they are the most common.

4l80 fitting with no tunnel modifications on a gbody! You just discovered the wheel my friend! What's the model numbers on the engine mounts and trans crossmember? I always thought I'd have to run the 4l60 because of mandatory trans tunnel mods... I have an 87 cutlass 442... How's the power on that 6.0? I have a 2014 L96 6.0 with vvt in mind.. Coming out of a wrecked 14 GMC Sierra 2500hd 28k miles $3k ecu, harness, and drive by wire pedal included... What you think?
@ChipAndBytes8 жыл бұрын
hello...all the parts can be found on this page www.holley.com/products/ls_power/ls_swap_systems/1978-88_gm_g-body_ls_swap_components/ please don't install a 4l60e....I can say from time and experience that they are terrible. the 4l80e fits with so much room you can easily put in all the bell housing bolts with no special extensions or anything. i was running my 6.0 with a t76 single turbo. it would burn the tires on the freeway but the original oil pump in my engine went out and then I wiped the cam bearings. trying to get it back together now...block is fine.
@jeremystone97838 жыл бұрын
Oh ok so the swap plates are what enables the 4l80e to fit.. I bought some set back plates off ebay $30 bucks.. Whats your email I'll send you a pic of them.. Havent did anything yet.. I think they're from Lsx Innovations
@ChipAndBytes8 жыл бұрын
I'm familiar with those and tried them....they do not let the 4l80 fit. It's the combination of the Holley mounts and cross member, and the extremely low clearance Holley pan that lets everything work. The Holley mounts and pan set the engine about 1" lower than setback plates plus an f body pan....that 1" is what let's the 4l80e fit.
@king99687 жыл бұрын
do you have to use the holley mounts to use the holley pan

my flexplate does not have the spacing like your 4l80e does what did you do
@ChipAndBytes8 жыл бұрын
The factory 6.0 flex plate is spaced differently...it's made for the 4L80E or TH400. If you are trying to use a 4.8/5.3/5.7 then you need to either get a 6.0 flex plate or have your converter made for the smaller 3 bolt flexplate

You have to cut and box in the frame to run the low a/c. Otherwise holley makes a great top mount A/C for sanden compressors.

I have another video on that. if your car just has heat the box is smaller. mine has ac. I cut the part of the bracket off for the last coil then mounted that coil over one of the farther forward ones. it definitely won't clear. that is the only clearance issie

@@jonelee36 Get the clamshells from an 85 regal that originally came with the 5.0 305. You can get them on rockauto. They mount to the g body frame with no drilling. You will have to drill through the original V6 frame side mounts to get them off.

Using junkyard 4th gen F body Camaro/Firebody factory shifter that was originally for a 4L60E. The 4L60E and 4L80E have the same shift detents. The 200-4r and 700-r4 have different detents.

Is that stock location motor mounts or their offset forward or back mounts? I'm in the beginning stages of a 5.3 swap into my 87 442 and want to run a 200-4R because I have a lighting rods out of a 83 hurst would stock location mounts work?
@ChipAndBytes7 жыл бұрын
1017cutlass they are the only mounts Holley sells as far as I know. they can only be installed one way
@36nick4truth7 жыл бұрын
1017cutlass I remember everyone hating those transmissions back in thre day saying they couldn't handle any torque. People only trusted em behind v6's. a metric 200 they called it. I think you'd have more fun Makin those lightning rods work on a 4l60 or a 700r4 Sell that 200 to somebody do in a stock resto. Peace good luck!
@justplanefred6 жыл бұрын
36Nick4Truth the Metric 200 looked like a slightly smaller Turbo 350 but instead of 13 pan bolts it only had 11 and they were 3 speed plus they were junk. If memory serves me correctly GM only made them for 2 years. The 200 R4 was different, I think they were still fragile but not nearly as bad as the Metric 200. They had a very unique pan. The 700r4 and 4L60E would probably been easier to fit but are only good for about 450 - 500 Whp
