Whoop - Whoop! Now there’s a beautiful thing young Kiwi! Another great video in the Cannon! This rifle takes me back to being a Royal Marine Cadet Sgt firing the .22 version…. My favourite bolt action and the details G&G have paid so much attention to, the stripper clips, the feel and the lovely smooth action are wonderful! Another great job Sir! Brilliant!

These last few years Lee Enfield enjoyers have been eating good, now if someone could make a Fedorov Avtomat that'd be great

Now that would be cool, but the chances of that happening are fairly slim :(

@@EnglishKiwi could just build a wooden casing round an AK and 3D print casings for the mags to make to it look like an Arisaka mag. Would have to do the metal work for the actual receiver. Bit of work but doable, most likely expensive

The wood versions happen to have just been released in Asia, few weeks ago? I waited until those were available before getting one myself and I'm quite happy with the system on this gun. I think it's a good middle ground between having realistic handling/manual of arms without going all the way to a shell-eject one and with all the annoyances that entails.
@EnglishKiwi Жыл бұрын
That's both excellent and really annoying news! Hopefully they'll be selling the wood as an upgrade kit for the polymer rifles!
@GaosenKinetics Жыл бұрын
@@EnglishKiwi Yeeeah somewhat unfortunate timing for you. G&G is a big company and tends to have a lot of spare parts that are orderable though, so might ask your local outlet if they can get. On the bright side in the video the faux wood doesn't look all that bad imo.

@@GaosenKinetics I'll definitely say the polymer version isn't half bad! That being said I love me realism so if I can get wood I will :D

@@EnglishKiwiTrust me, once you get your hands on one of the Ares you won’t want to come back. Yeah the G&G is kinda cool and unique, but not all that practical and it’s finish is miles behind the Ares. The Ares looks and feel just like the real thing. I have one of their No4T rifles and think it’s excellent. Drop in an upgrade kit for the barrel and hop to really boost that performance, and you have yourself a real winner.
@samrouse6559 Жыл бұрын
I found my Ares to be enormously disappointing. The scope mounts were so far out the scope couldn’t be zeroed, the trigger is woeful and the mock striker drops before the gun fires so you get a hang fire effect. It’s also nowhere near as smooth or slick to use as my S&T and isn’t as accurate or consistent as my S&T
@nathanielbrooke22 күн бұрын
It would of been nice to put the correct mk 1 sight on it, not the no5 Enfield one (no4 was a 1300 yard range, not the 800 yard) with the proper year markings for it. A 1948 rebuild (FTR) would have fitted either a mk 3 or 4 stamped sight.

I’m Confused why they went with post war markings, not going to please a lot of WW2 players. I guess that’s what was on the deact or live fire rifle they were modelling from and didn’t really know what the markings meant.
@EnglishKiwi Жыл бұрын
Indeed. It's a bit of a shame, but then again who's really looking at the markings when a Tommy is charging you with a spike bayonet affixed to their no4!

I was musing over the past few years as to which if any No4 I would buy when they were eventually released. I'm impressed with the bolt assembly, it is very close in design and function to the real thing. The charger loading method is a clever design and quite cool in its way but hugely impractical. A couple of other things I noted. First the rear sight is incorrect. The range markings are those for the Rifle No5 Mk1 (the "Jungle Carbine") as they only extend to 800 yards. The No4's Sight is ranged out to 1300 yards. The observation made regarding the safety catch and locking the bolt is not entirely correct. While there is not a safety catch mid position on the real rifle, with the bolt closed but not cocked it is certainly is locked out when the safety catch is applied. There are some interesting design choices but all in all I'm more than happy that I decided to go with the ARES No4 Mk1*. It strikes me as a much more practical tool for airsoft and since I revamped the surprisingly good quality wood with a dark stain and boiled linseed oil it matches my real Savage 1942 dated No4 Mk1* very closely. So much so that I had it with me at a living history event at The Rifles (Berkshire and Wiltshire) Museum in Salisbury Cathedral Close last weekend and a load of visiting Aussie soldiers were suprised when I told them it was an airsoft replica.

ah good to know re rear sight and saftey lever. It's been a while since I've had trigger time with a real lee so my memory is a little rusty! I do agree that the chargers is a fun yet somewhat impractical reload method and I do hope they also bring out some more standard style magazines for it., I'm just thinking how much of a pain the no4(t) version will be to reload like this! Whilst I was put off by the faux wood initially, once I'd handled it I was really quite amazed by how nice it felt, though that being said G&G are supposedly bring out a genuine wood version and my plan is to get a repro wood stock and fit it onto this in the near future!
@TarnishUK Жыл бұрын
I'll certainly be interested to see how it is with wooden furniture installed. Thing is I've wanted an airsoft No4 for many years and I came to the conclusion that for me at least it would have to be a springer. That the G&G has gone with plastic furniture is a show stopper for me. Funny really because from past experiences I would usually go with G&G over ARES most days of the week.

Hello! I love your presentation and review style very down to Earth and witty. (Though I still prefer capitalism over other systems.) Now I’ve been wanting a Lee Enfield for ages but no idea what to go for. I would prefer all wood and steel. Spring I can see the advantage of no gas need. (More realistic cocking?) And Gas just for the easier bolt cycling. Shell ejecting looks amazing fun. But if there any recommendations out of the S&T, Ares, G&G and any other manufacturers. I’m also wanting to get my first GBBR and it’s between a WE G3A3 and a WE XM177. I just don’t know what to go for. I was a Umarex fan but had issues with their retailers and customer service (got a product less than 2 months ago and it stopped working after using it for the first time. Had no response from Umarex, and the retailer said it’s out of warranty.) Any help is much appreciated! Can’t wait for your next video!

Looking forward to your final review on it. Always nice to hear the thoughts of somebody who actually knows what they're holding vs literally everybody else on YT. I've always liked G&G's build quality. My G&G SA80 is coming up on 9 years old now and I've had 0 failures with it, etc... This one being plastic leaves me a bit unsure of what to think though to be honest. Even if it is nice plastic, I'm just not sure I accept that at the price point. Speaking of that, G&G hasn't been great on spare parts for the past few years unfortunately, and I'd be a bit worried about being able to ever fix anything on these if they do break. Bolt handle snapping off for example, seems to happen to every bolt action to ever exist in airsoft. Definitely would like to hear your thoughts on the internals too because of just that. If it's not at least somewhat compatible with the usual accuracy upgrades (if it needs them), it would be a hard sale. Same for the mags, need to be able to buy extras.... A wood version would probably have me sold. As is, I'm curious how it stacks up against the others on the market now. Didn't know I even needed one of these until now.

And used it in my "tropical Brutality" fun stage day at IPSC as well to make people use something a bit oddball. I managed 300 rounds out of one fill, also had the main rear gasket leaking out of the box but fixed it myself (not an ideal design to my mind) but yeah, once it was up and running it was great fun. Sights were pretty far off on mine though, having to hold way above the sights for point of impact. Tried shimming the outer and inner barrel but that just caused wierd corkscrewing of the rounds. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iKLZk3aIaJ6amas kzbin.info/www/bejne/qWG4gIyMh5hgfas

I've noticed that as well, by battle apeture seems to be too low. I might try and switch the front blade out for a taller one (if the block isn't one piece) and see if that improves things.
