I'm playing this as a seventh-grade second violin in my school orchestra, this song drives me crazy! It's one of my favorites, but those chords drive me nuts!

Daria Lappi Yesss. I’m playing in my youth orchestra, my highschool played it last year but I wasn’t there to experience it because I’m a freshman this year. I have an ensemble of 8 people that I might want to play it, its a lot of fun

Lol, the first two commets makes me feel depressed. The orchestra I'm in probably can't play this piece and we are in high school but we aren't one of the rich city's so it makes some sense why. One of the greatest thing about the orchestra I'm in is the fact that we dont have any violas🙃

yes - he's done such a fantastic job that his job is rendered almost unnecessary. no need to over-conduct a tiny ensemble like this. - shows that he has complete confidence in the musicians to find their own stride, with only a little gentle directing from himself. - a man who knows his place in the ensemble.

I played this piece on bass! I love it so much, and the little solo we have with the concert master at the end right there. :)

I watched chamber orchestras performing this amazing piece without a bass, and with my conclusion, this proves that bass is the pure definition of being the foundation of music.

Armchair_Warriror Right, a lot of people, mostly the ones that are not in a Orchestra think that Double Basses and Violas are useless, but you can really hear the difference.

I definitely recommend playing this piece, it is absolutely awesome and perfect!!! also great playing!!!! l agree entirely with James Lochard, Only long rehearsal could have led to this polished and seemingly effortless performance and the conductor's enthusiasm and love for the piece became increasingly obvious towards the finale.

It flows very well from section to section. Also I like how great they sound when they are in 2 diff time signatures.
@hdirtwater8 жыл бұрын
The tempo of this movement has to be based on the Greensleeves melody and not how fast the orchestra can play the ostinato. This performance has it just right!

Their articulation made the melody a lot clearer than how we played it. Even in the spots with a weird time signature they were able to stay together

Magnificent. All these somewhat negative comments about the conductor is really unfounded. Consider him the Coach of a team, In this case the "team" being this musical ensemble. How Many countless hours did he spend with these talented musicians (during rehearsals) bringing forth the best performance from each and every player before they even sat before a live audience.With that said, lets all partake in the pleasure of playing the suite again.
@clivedavies56183 жыл бұрын
l agree absolutely. His love of the music and his orchestra is obvious and in this piece he is being carried along as much by his musicians as they are by his conducting

I've always thought that although this piece is a fine piece, when played against the counterpart from "Second Suite in F," it loses the tone colors from the military band setting. Strings are lovely and this piece is still fantastic in any setting it's in, but it needs the other colors to really shine.

Yah, because that music is more like a dance. I played this Dargason and Jig movement when I was in college. You don't understand us conductors do you? The conductor was a very unique one. Not many conductors conduct as cool as he does believe me.

From Scheile: We should try to emulate their articulation and dynamics throughout the piece. Also they are always together even during differing time signatures
@wilsonmath111 жыл бұрын
skyler: it is seamless when they change into the separate time signatures and it doesnt sound like two different songs. If we really work on getting our notes down we could sound like this at a slower tempo.

Great dynamics, though the conductor did not do as much conducting, but the orchestra was able to hold their own.
@gpoop2311 жыл бұрын
A conductor can sometimes act less as a metronome for the orchestra in actual performance and moreso the creative mind behind a rendition of a song. They'll always do at least a bit of both jobs, but sometimes it just ends up that most of their work is behind the scenes.
