Oh my god, people are saying that the cartoon is actually Soojin?! There was a certain mole that made that theory very believable 😭Oh if only she was part of this concept for real! This was incredible, and as always, these are just my opinions and my interpretation of the mv, I hope you enjoyed the video!

Love your reaction format. I really enjoy watching a comeback a few times by myself then by the time I’ve done that, your reactions are usually out & there’s something about watching you react to it that makes me enjoy it even more. Especially when you speak my mind with your interpretations & make me look into the MV deeper :)

My favorite lines from the song are "I'm born nude" and "You've got a dirty mind." I mean, they're right. We were welcomed into this world without any clothing and nothing about us should be sexualized. We should wear whatever we want because it's our body.
@AmadanMath2 жыл бұрын
The Korean actually translates to “It’s _you_ who’s the pervert”. Punchier than “you’ve got a dirty mind”, and calls back to the “you’re a pervert” comments when Soyeon took off her shirt; not sure why they changed it so in the subtitles.

@@AmadanMath it's probably too long to put, most of the time they shorten it to much simpler sentences

This is what drew me into K-pop a lot of years ago. A REAL concept and sending a message with it. Literal art, a musical in three minutes. Something that gets you thinking. By the way the line "You have a dirty mind" is mistranslated or for whatever reason it doesnt hit as hard in English. The literal translation is "You are the pervert". And of course it had to be Shuhua delivering that line
@beauregarden2 жыл бұрын
"I'm born nude, you're the pervert" makes a bit more sense in English too. Wonder why it was translated that way
@hannylycia2442 жыл бұрын
I would like to change the sentence to the way it's said in Korean, it's "I'm born nude, the pervert is you" there's just a different feeling to it, it's like you say I'm a pervert for being nude but I'm born nude, the pervert is you
@kemii_io7062 жыл бұрын
it's not mistranslated lmao, it still holds the same meaning

The fact that you caught yourself saying how beautiful they all are and critiquing that shows just how well you got the message. Like yes they look gorgeous, sexy, but focusing on that aspect alone in a way proves the message. Just wanted to say that. Great reaction!

I didn't know where this song was going with the intro, and damn did the whole thing blow me away. The style of the MV is just on another level. I do love how they address the responses they expected to get with a title like nude in the actual song. "Rating is just the inverse of bliss" - I take that as meaning, if you are obsessed with ratings, success, etc., you are very unlikely to find happiness. Whether it is your own success or the success of some other person or group. You can certainly see Banksy's influence in the recreation of when he set up for one of his pieces of artwork to be destroyed when it was sold with a shredder in the frame.

Small detail in Leaves of Grass, the book Soyeon was holding. Leaves of Grass is also notable for its discussion of delight in sensual pleasures during a time when such candid displays were considered immoral. The book was highly controversial during its time for its explicit sexual imagery, and Whitman was subject to derision by many contemporary critics. Soyeon's attention to detail is INSANE! G-Idle is my ultimate favorite group. Their concepts and their self produced/written songs just hit way harder for me than other kpop groups. I also found them at a time I was struggling and they just inspire me so much!
@실험싫엄2 жыл бұрын
12:56 the Korean '행복과 반비례하는 평점' means 'the happiness that goes inversely proportional to the ratings'. I think the overall quality of the subtitles in the official MV is actually impeding foreign audiences from understanding the lyrics :(

Thanks for the correct translation! That line and a couple others were so confusing to me because it felt like poor translation. It made me second guess if my interpretations of certain lines were right or way off.

Soyeon actually takes it to another level with the title. Child pornography is a big problem in Korea (as many other countries). G-Idle’s name, “Idle” is the same word as “children” in Korea. So she hoped to filter out some of the results of child predators’ online searches by playing with these words. When they look for “Idle Nude” (or “children’s nudes”), they would instead get results of G-Idle’s song, “Nxde”.

One thing I noticed and I don’t see being talked about enough: stage persona vs real person. Marilyn wasn’t just the most desired person alive: she crafted herself as such. She was a shrewd businesswoman and a. excellent actress who managed to fool everyone into thinking she was dumb, innocent and available, when she was none of those. This parallels the idol life quite closely: even the most honest and transparent idols must cultivate a mask, they cannot ever completely be themselves, and cultivating the parasocial relationship with the fans is integral to Kpop artists’ success. They may hate and cringe at aegyo yet they do it because it is an expected part of their job. In the start, Minnie is saying how she is slightly dumb but pretty. This is what a lot of people want from their idols. Where is she saying it? On the stage, surrounded by adoring audience. But Soyeon shows a voracious reader, with interest in philosophy, a self-made woman. Where? In the dressing room, behind the stage! This is the real Jeon Soyeon, the real Norma Jane Mortenson. The stage persona and the real person.

Literally how and why? The English lyrics make total sense nothing wrong about them, and the piano scene is a reference to Betty Boop, soyeon is imitating the way that character sing and talk in the cartoon. The same thing goes for Minnie's line : " my name is yeppi yeppi yo " the same reference for the same character. The whole thing is on purpose. So why would anyone cringe about this? there is literally nothing weird or cringy about it, except if people find art cringy these days !! Please, if someone sees any stupid comment about soyeon's English part, explain to them the reference and that it is on purpose.

I must admit that I was very worried by the title of the song. I don't want to associate nude, x or provocation with kpop. but i was worried for nothing SOYEON is so smart and she know than if she bring the word NUDE people will be intrigued and interrested. but not by the good thing, the song deceives us and SOYEON plays with us. very clever to hijack this word, and the other members are all incredible special mention for YUQI she is dazzling.
@fabricemaire44332 жыл бұрын
simply find that our industry does not need that to exist. and the last thing i want is for kpop to look like what "pop" can produce. the fact of creating buzz or chaos to have attention rather than talent and texts that make sense. fortunately SOYEON is a genius. I know how she works and the concept of the PIN UP of the 40s 50s and Marylin Monroe is very good for (G)IDLE. once again SOYEON tries concepts and takes (G)IDLE further. I'm not sure this title can be more popular than TOMBOY. but I support them as always I think (G) IDLE, IVE and BLACKPINK are the 3 best GGs of this year.

this is a bit off topic but while watching and seeing Seyeon's line: Audience booing and shouting "You're a Liar!" kinda reminds me of the classic popcult movie Jennifer's Body where the promotion is solely for the male gaze where they show legs and just megan being her sexy self, then audiences who we can assume the "target audience" of that movie had a meltdown for how bad it is when clearly they can't handle a megan fox possessed by demon/succubus that eats men with "no single shot of her entirely naked body" throughout the movie 💀 they were enraged for being baited by the seductive promotion posters and disappointed they didn't get to see what they wanted 😹👁️👄👁️ clearly a movie that's ahead of it's time that's considered an example of a female gaze cinematography
