I tend to like the real spring reverb because the guitar sounds attached to the signal. So many digital units tend to make what is already a slightly non-tactile experience of digital and casts it out into the Grand Canyon with a zillion reflections. There just aren't enough real springs in pedals, when it seems like that would be a highly competitive thing, who can tweak a spring in a tiny package. My favorite reverb is the Hammond AO-35 Three Spring Necklace Reverb. It sounds amazing! The three dangling springs ( hence "necklace") represent L x H x W of the room. Too many guitar players are turning the Hammond AO-35 tube reverb amps into guitar amps when little do they realize that it is actually a slave amp already and so they can drive it with anything and have a good sounding amp while preserving it's ability to work with a 3-spring necklace when one comes up for sale. I'll never get rid of mine. I use it for everything!

I am going to have to do some research on that, but I can imagine it sounds better than any digital pedal. Picked this one up just because I saw it on Warren Haynes's rig. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it. Nice to have around when needed.
