Shortly after finishing recording, PJ figured out the setting we were missing. Duh, I'm not sure where our brains were that evening. We cover the missing setting in an upcoming video comparing the Boss DC-2W to the TC Electronics 3rd Dimension. Thanks, zZounds, for supporting the channel! This is the sound that I desperately wanted in the 80’s, but was unattainable unless you owned a studio.

I am a Chorus junkie (having played in both a Rush / Police cover band). I've tried em all. The 2 that I kept: Free the Tone Tri Avatar = my #1 and The Boss DC-2W = Love them both. No Seasick pitch-warble. Both are like Studio Rack Units. oNe LovE from NYC

As we are slowly rolling into a chorus series I’ll have to add the free the tone pedal to the list. Thanks!

@@PJandtheBeard It's honestly incredible. Yuki makes great stuff. It's Alex Lifeson in-a-box. I love mine. If you want more 80's rack-chorus sounds - look into the Red Seven Amplification "Lil Wave" - another killer.

I’ve been curious about this pedal for a long time. Glad you guys did a review. Sounded like a great pedal to have on the board.

The biggest chorus pedal I have, is a JC-120 amp.

Played one in a small shop in Canada on vacation over 20 years ago. I have never forgot how great it sounded!

I think your missing link is the combination of 3 and 4 together.

That or 1 and 4… what a brain dead moment

Thanks for the comprehensive run thru! Interested to try this one out (at a shop near me!) some time soon after seeing this. I still have my Dimension D Rack Mount from way back when I was doing some work for Roland in NZ demoing their new GR 300 and they threw the DD in as part of the package - it's actually very subtle but you can imagine how special it was in the studio 45 years ago when chorus was a new thing. I tried the D C pedal a few years ago but noticed quite a level dip when I engaged it - really noticeable - and ended up buying the MXR Analog Chorus instead, which is lovely - also subtle, but after a decade or so of that glassy Boss CE 2 'classic' in the '80s / early '90s I'm fine with a low key approach these days 😅

If you have a local shop that carries it that is a great way to go. No argument here. I miss all the local shops we used to have! The rack mount unit sounds cool.

@@PJandtheBeard Yeah, I worked as a guitar salesman in Wellington, NZ in my late teens before 'going pro' with our band in 1977 - those were the days! We're quite fortunate here in HK - 2 major companies carrying the big names + several boutiques with many of the more niche lines - bit of a shopper's paradise, tax free port so no duty . . . I really wanted the DD 'cos I'd read that Andy Summers was using one and I loved his playing.

I saw that pedal when it came out, those buttons were just not tweekable enough so I opted for a CE-3. The CE-2 sounds like several early 90's mtv hits though, to it's credit.

It really seems like it lacks some tweakability, but man does it sound good.
