G:link - Gold Coast Light Rail

Scenes from along the new Gold Coast Light Railway which runs predominately in the street between the Gold Coast University Hospital & Pacific Fair Shopping Centre at Broadbeach. The route travels via Southport & Surfers Paradise, the former location receiving rail transport again for the first time since 1964 when the former South Coast Railway line from South Brisbane was stupidly closed by the Qld government.

Love how there was so many objections against the Light Rail - and yet, it broke forecast records in the first year in operation. Looking forward to the second stage being completed- and hopefully one day - stepping off a plane and onto a tram at Coolongatta....

Very futuristic. I feel like the future has finally arrived after waiting since 2000. Makes a great noise. This will change the Gold Coast. I hope more lines follow.

+James French A lot of us have been waiting for trams to return to Qld a lot longer than 2000, and that it was the Gold Coast that got them back 1st is still the surprise for many including myself!

+Andy Adam When the second stage opens later this year or early next year ahead of the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games, the line will be extendard northbound to Helensvale Railway Station where direct connections to Brisbane on QR's Gold Coast Line will be available.

Fun Fact. The Whole line Will terminate At The Gold Cost Uni Hospital Stop. Until. The line extended To Helensvale.
