The Gérard boutique at Grand Hotel Kepminski in Geneva, inaugurated in 1980, was the first place in the world to be a cigar lounge offering a high selection of handmade cigars. Gérard Père et Fils customers vary from those who are smoking their first cigar, to people who venture into trying different types, onto cigar aficionados. The brand strives to work "like a cook for the blend, and like an architect for the construction of the cigar."

Unfortunately following the market also means following a whole lotta the widespread misconceptions and bogus stereotypes surrounding cigars which it's how we got dyed wrappers, 6x60, 7x70, 8x80 and even 10x80 sticks and ridiculous advertising shams that didn't exist in the 40's, or even so much in the 90's, that we do today. I get following the market, but sometimes the expert growers, blenders, rollers and smokers should have a little more input than they seem to have at this point lol It's so bad now that many great blends don't even come out in a Lancero, Lonsdale, Perfecto, Corona, Rothschild, etc, vitola anymore and instead it's a fat Robusto, a fat Toro and a Gordo, maybe a fat Torpedo. No short quick smoke, no size that shows off that beautiful wrapper leaf, just baseball bat sticks that are all filler and take forever to smoke. Sure, "boutique" brands still tend to do more variety of sizes. But they're often a pain to find and not always the most affordable for a lot of the market. It's a shame.
