The convertible house is a house, which rooms can move and reattach into various configurations. In its square form the house provides a full 360 degree panoramic view through its glass walls. The south-facing part of the house is a small garden.
In case of bad weather, the house can curl up into an equilateral triangle. All thick walls become external, thus protecting the garden and the rest of the house. While the garden is in the middle of the house, it becomes a winter garden. The flexibility of the house allows it to expose rooms in any direction and to accommodate to any weather. Doors always match against doors of other rooms, so that every configuration of the house is completely passable.
The glass walls are large transparent TV screens. They can be used to show interactive dynamic content (like TV programs, movies, weather forecasts, computer games). When not active they are are either completely transparent to make the house light-friendly; or they can show virtual blinds to provide various degree of dimming.
The conceptual design of the Convertible House is by Pavel Boytchev, based on the Dudeney's dissection and the Haberdasher's problem -- to dissect an equilateral triangle into a square with only three cuts.
