Thickness isn't much a a measure of resilience when comparing Steel to Aluminum. Aluminum HAS to be thicker to even come close to steel's rigidity, resistance to impact and structural integrity. I would have liked to have seen an actual stress test of some sort, but you probably wouldn't want t damage your new difs on purpose to make a point. Plus anytime you start mixing aluminum and steel you have to be concerned about Galvanic corrosion any place the two make contact.

Very good point! So far, they have held up quite well.

@@RubiconUnlimited Good to hear! Aside from the other factors I mentioned, Aluminum is great for heat conductivity and weight savings. I'm only assuming, but my best guess is your gears are probably running cooler than if you had the stock steel or ductile iron.

Yup! That totally makes sense, they seem happy so far. Just need to keep them lubricated, a leaky inner seal is making that a challenge at the moment

I would put my stainless Kentrol cover up against the thicker G2 aluminum cover. The Kentrol is surprisingly strong and peel resistant. It also dissipates heat extremely well.

Get a Kentrol stainless. Much thinner than the G2 but surprisingly strong and doesn't crack or peel from rocks. Also dissipates heat well.

I have both front and rear G2 diff covers on my truck. Since they were installed by another company, I just wanted to contact G2 and ask them what the recommended Torque settings were for the bolts and the drain plug. They do not have it listed on their website. The contact us button does not give you an email address or any information to contact them, and the phone number, no one answers. Does anyone know what they are?

You should be okay with 25 ft/lbs. Thanks for watching and subscribe if you can!

@@RubiconUnlimited Already subscribed, 25 ft-lbs for the bolts, what about the drain plug?

Thanks! About the same, 25 should do. Just get it snug, no need to overdo it

@@RubiconUnlimited Thanks so much, I tend to get a little heavy handed when it comes to tightening down aluminum. Lol

Mine leaks like a 300 pound female on her period. And because it’s not painted it stained, and burned into the aluminum. Make sure you put pipe dope on the bolts.

I had considered getting another G2 for my Bronco since I have one for my F-150 and like it, BUT in the time that has passed since I got the truck one, they are now made in China, what a bummer. At least the two you linked were anyways. Do you know if that is the case with all of their products now? It's weird because their website says Made in USA. I wonder if the Amazon links have bad info. That was a key reason I originally went with the G2.
What aftermarket diff cover guys don't tell you!
