It would be great if Garmin finally would come to understand that in Europe, 90 % of VFR pilots use SkyDemon, hence would love the possibility to be able to wireless transfer flight plans out of SkyDemon. This would make their G3X system so much more desirable in Europe!

There is more money invested in just the avionics than that airplane is worth. Staggering why people wonder why aviation is only a dream for many people. 2019 technology in an airplane not much more advanced than it was in the 40's.

The G3X Touch and TXi flight displays require either the retention of three primary mechanical instruments, including the attitude, airspeed and altimeter or more commonly a standby electronic instrument like the G5 and GI 275. The electronic instruments are required to be powered by a separate power source, most often a built-in battery. So should the primary flight display become unavailable, the backup instrument can serve as a backup. Thank you for considering Garmin.

In the video you show how if you lose the G3X display that the autopilot will temporarily disengage and you can re-couple to the G5, which variation of the G5 do you have to have to make this possible? I know there is now the GI-275. Which variation of this do i need? I was told that you only needed the GI-275 ADAHRS+AP if i am using it as my primary, and that the GI-275 ADAHRS would accomplish what i need. Can you explain?

At this time, the GI 275 does not talk to the GFC 500 Autopilot, it only works with the GFC 600. If you wanted to install a unit now, that will work with the GFC 500 in the future, the GI-275 ADAHRS will support it in the future. The GI 275 with ADAHRS will be used as a primary or standby ADI. ^DK

Can the G3X Touch fit in my C162?

The G3X Touch 7” portrait display has a slightly different shape that protrudes through the panel requiring some minor panel modification, but it is a close fit (reference pages 78 and 102 of the install manual here: static.garmin.com/pumac/190-01115-01_am.pdf). The G3X Touch system does work with the same connector as well as sensors already in the aircraft. However, all that said, the larger challenge is that the installation approval was unable to list the C162 Skycatcher because of its aircraft designation as an S-LSA. I talked with our certification team and they mentioned there may be a path to convert the aircraft from an S-LSA to an E-LSA that would make the G3X Touch for experimental aircraft a solution for you. However, there are likely a lot of considerations and limitations worth researching before taking that on. I did some searching on the internet myself and found some popular experimental aircraft forums discussing this. I hope this helps. Thank you for following Garmin. ^DK

The problem with having great avionics is you spend more on instrumentation than any other part of the aircraft.
