I remember watching this when it aired. I was 16, and when their names were called, I was ecstatic in the way teenagers get ecstatic. My mom poked her head in my room, wondering why in the world I was shrieking my head off. I thought they were the greatest TV couple ever. Time hasn't changed that.

My friends and I used to shriek at the TV whenever The X-Files came on and Scully and Mulder had one of their intimate moments. Such good memories! The X-Files is still my all-time favorite show and love story.

I don't think that her reaction was about what she didn't say; I think she was just moved and flattered by that part of what he said. Although, since the original comment made that I am replying to late in 2020 they made 2 more seasons (10 and 11) to end the show on, and she has no interest in doing the series anymore... the only chance is that Chris Carter, who they both profusely thanked there, somehow comes up with one last movie script that blows her away. That's the only way.

Saw the Golden Globes 2017 tonight! Gillian was there and she seemed much happier and relaxed! ;) Weird to think it was HER winning exactly 20 years ago!!! Really happy they both went home with an award. What a night for The X-Files! Makes me nostalgic. Those were the days. Hope David and Gillian will win again one day.

She was what 28 or 29 here? She's a kid and nervous and inexperienced with the Hollywood work yet. I'm 25 and would be awkward as hell in her position though grateful. David had 5 or 6 years on her here so was more mature and confident. You aren't really a mature adult until early to mid 30s I think. She seems far more confident and laid back now in her early 50s than she did in the mid to late 90s when she was late 20s. I watched the xfiles first with my parents when I was like 7. Caught the tail end. Binged the whole show around 2008 when it was still relatively fresh and now in 2020 I still love it and the new seasons. I personally think gillian gets more worldly and confident as she age's and is more beautiful now than ever. Sure she looks older but still beautiful

Actually, she does give props to David when she won that first SAG award (doesn't she say, "David, I love you"?). It's this GG win that hurts a little since not only did she attend this show with him as her 'date', but he ends up on stage right after her and thanks her before she's even able to return to her seat! I still think you can see it in her face when they cut to her watching him in the wings. She realizes her gaffe. I honestly don't think she ever snubbed him on purpose.

I'm watching this again in honor of tonight's GG! If only I was older at the time & lived in the US so I could have watched it... The X-Files & ER, the best drama shows at the time. I just love that Gillian & David both got to win on the same night! Not 2 mention they seemed closer than any other time I saw them together (to this day)! Let's just say it was a good night! If this kiss was really on the lips, it's confusing! I can feel Gillian's nervousness just by watching, she's even breathless.

I really can't believe they won only once at the Golden Globes. The X-Files was second to none for at least their first 5 seasons. I even love the episodes where Mulder was missing cause Gillian really showed how bright a star she was.

Yes, they are both very talented. It's really hard to believe that someone as naturally quirky and giggly as Gillian Anderson could play someone as level-headed and solemn as Dana Scully. Don't get me wrong, I certainly like them both. It's just that Gillian has to do some pretty amazing acting to portray Scully who is fundamentally nothing like her. I think of myself as someone like Gillian, but I would love to be more like Scully. I guess that's why I have such an appreciation for her.

I don't think she ever forgets David, but they were with each other practically every day during filming of that show and I think they know that neither would be great without the other. She's probably so nervous that she mentions who comes to mind, but knows in her heart that he played a big part.

I would think that it would be so exciting and nerve-wracking to be up there, and that she would not necessarily have to thank him. I do agree that she seemed to look upset after he thanked her. Looked like she felt bad that she had forgotten to thank him, too. I doubt he really even thought about it---kind of like when you give someone a gift but they didn't think to get you one...they feel awful but it's not biggie to you.

Agree... I interpret that "shy" turn away is a moment of epiphany and/or embarrassment, realizing that she didn't thank him. I could be wrong about this -- but I seem remember that she later put out an ad in Variety thanking him (and/or crew)? Or am I completely making that up? Actually, we see Gillian in several white shirts in The X-Files. She doesn't look bad in them, but I wouldn't choose white for her. My favorite Gillian color is green. If I'm not mistaken, she wore a lovely green top in the eighth season episode, "Within." It was nothing special, but I thought the color was very complimentary. Her red hair looked amazing with it.

Of course, it's just my opinion that this dress doesn't flatter her. I know from personal experience that fair-skinned people do not generally look attractive in pastel. It drowns them out, making them look colorless in their face. I think Gillian looks amazing in black, red, green, and blue. They are bold colors and accentuate her curvy figure. They also seem to fit her bold personality more than these dull colors that she wears. :) I could have so much fun as her costume designer.
