Let’s see... Gabby accomplished something that no other black gymnast had before her. Simone accomplished something no other gymnast (black or white) had EVER. Of course we can celebrate gabby winning the gold medal in 2012 But Simone literally is the greatest of all time. As of right now, no other gymnast has won as many medals as her. No other gymnast has more world titles than her. No other gymnast won as many gold medals in one Olympic edition as her. I mean, there’s no comparison.

The only U.S. Olympic All-Around Champion who didn't come from a privileged background. Gabby broke so many barriers, and that can never be taken away from her!
@jojox97918 жыл бұрын
in don't think that's accurate. what do you mean nu "privileged". a common home with 2 working parents and middle class is not privileged. nastias family wasn't "rich" and neither was Carly's. in fact, neither was mary lous. son I'm very curious as to what you mean by "privileged*????
@visualeyes86378 жыл бұрын
mrsjojo xoxo Yes, Nastia's family was "rich" they ran their own gym and bought Nastia a flipping luxury car before she could even drive it. They're millionaires, if not, close to it. Gabby even lived in a dang van for a while, and was quite poor for most of her life. Carly and Mary Lou were much better off by comparison, maybe not Nastia-level, but they definitely weren't struggling.
@jojox97918 жыл бұрын
+visualeyes that doesn't make them privileged. lol. it makes them "working class Americans". and nastia had her OWN money from endorsements (make it or break it, sports ads, etc). that is not privilege and its not "rich". maybe we have different views on financial classes, but gym oenerse putting in 60-80 hours a week busting their asses ARE NOT ENTITLED. AGAIN. WORKING CLASS AMERICANS. yes, NOW nastia has $$ (last reported new worth was $$2 mill compared to shawns exorbitant millions) but that is now
@visualeyes86378 жыл бұрын
mrsjojo xoxo I would maybe argue that Shawn's parents could be considered working class" and they even had to mortage their house just to pay for her gymnastics training. I was talking about Olympic All-Around gold medalists, though.The Liukins were definitely rolling in money long before Nastia even competed in the Olympics. I was never talking about her money, I was talking about her parents' money. I know Nastia, Shawn, Gabby, Mary Lou became rich after the Olympics, but Shawn and definitely Gabby didn't grow up that way.

Not really. Simone would've won in Rio irrespective of whether Gabby won or not. Simone was 15 in 2012, so just not eligible to compete in the Olympics, but already a champion at her level. She started her undefeated AA career from the very first year as a senior. Gabby was destroyed by Mustafina in 2010, when they were both 16, and could've been destroyed again in London had she been healthy. Simone had no competition in Rio, she was miles above everyone else.

It is just not as easy to do as it was over 100 years ago. That is the only difference. Não é a Vitória apenas de uma mulher negra, mas sim de uma mulher negra treinada por um técnico chinês, que teve um suporte familiar de uma família branca cristã, que vive num país cristão que desde sua constituição colocou os direitos individuais como relevantes. Till now I still wondering how gabby got 15.5 on beam during all around. same score as Sui Lu in EF even though Sui Lu barely wobble and has little step compare to Gabby during dismount. Yeah, still wondering. Shannon Miller also comment that Gabby has more wobble compare to Viktoria Komova during beam all around yet Komova's score around 15.4 ++
@shar-ky37368 жыл бұрын
I kinda agree with you. Also for Uneven Bars, still the score is still quite high.
@shar-ky37368 жыл бұрын
Maybe, but if judges are more lenient, Komova's score in Beam actually will higher than Gabby . Gabby has too much wobble for me compare to Komova.
@37483598 жыл бұрын
Komova had quite a few balance checks if you actually go back and watch including a huge check on her punch front so let's not even start with this bitter bullshit the results are still the same nothing is gonna change get over it and as far as the beam final goes the judges are more harsh on scores during event finals because it's the only event taking place in that moment so they pay closer attention to every little wobble and check as opposed to the all around and team finals, this same routine by Gabby would've probably scored a 15.3 or 15 .2 in a beam "Final" so that explains the scoring...
@shar-ky37368 жыл бұрын
+3748359 i dont think judges are more harsh in ef compare to all around. its just.. the score is ridiculous! sui lu got 15.3 on tf and that is more ridiculous score with less wobble compare to gabby's score. im just saying also.. even shannon miller also comment gabby has more wobble compare to komova for this all around.
@37483598 жыл бұрын
Komova also missed her first connection series which Shanon Miller failed to comment on. she had a pause from her front walk over, back tuck, to sheep jump, and she dropped her foot on L turn before her front walk over which counts as a missed connection. you really have to watch both beam routines to see what I'm talking about... Komovas connections were choppy with less wobbles and Gabbys was smooth with slightly more wobbles
