Just want you to know that I’m a 62-year-old widow with a too-busy life running a nonprofit, and your channel keeps me obsessed with books - which is a very good thing because reading is my escape. Also, I have a ton of friends but am sorely lacking when it comes to family, and your vlogs that include your fam are the BEST. So comforting and fun and cozy. ❤❤❤

I have done a successful 24 hour reading challenge with my daughter. We didn’t do audiobooks and that required us to keep our eyes open - I knew that there was zero chance of you “resting your eyes” and staying awake. I second your tips. We also pre-selected a stack of books to choose from of various genres and lengths. We moved locations every couple of hours, going from the couch, to recliner, to kitchen table. We prepped meals the day before. We kept breaks to a minimum - bathroom, check ins, selecting the next book from the stack. We were highly motivated to complete the challenge and kept each other going. We did this 3 years ago and we want to do it again. It’s amazing how much you can read if you sit down and do it and not “reward” yourself by checking social media every few minutes.

When you started turning off your lights, I knew it was over! Hahahaha I still think that 12 hours and 12 hours is more doable and won’t get you on a reading slump. How about a video reading 12 hours a day for a week? 😁

Yes, I have had very long all-nighters, which - thankfully - have become the stuff of legend. Surely to do one now would be totally impossible. Thx Gabby it was fun!

Great video Gabby! There's absolutely no way I'd be able to read for 24 hours, and to stay awake! As for my Kindle, ive had it for years and i just can't bond with it. It will never replace the feel, touch and smell of an acrual book. Reading on a screen will never compare to reading an actual book for me. 😂

if possible, plan it during the summer solstice for max daylight hours. - Save your most highly rated or exciting books for the final stretch to keep energy up. Like a closer in a relay race. - When fatigue hits, try an immersive read while walking (audiobook + movement of turning pages / walkingr). - For quick energy boosts: espresso chocolate &/ nuts, fruits , cold plunge or ice packs on your face. Water! Rotate reading spots frequently to stay fresh. Go outside and stand when possible. - don’t forget eye drops for tired eyes plus vitamins and ibuprofen for headaches 🙃

Heckuv an effort Gabby! You succeeded in my book. I loved how you kept trying even when you were exhausted. As you said, the poor night's sleep the night before hurt you as did not finding a lot of excellent books. Still, a very fun video that I enjoyed. I'm happy you found a couple good reads. The Grady Hendrix story is something I will seek out.

I’ve stayed up reading almost 24 hours, not intentionally but just nights that I can’t get to sleep. But it always happens what happened to you, I fall asleep about 2-3 hours short of 24! But I still like all the reading I get done.

I watched your Christmas book reading vlog right before this video and it’s so weird bc literally two minutes before you said in that video that you were thinking about eating Burger King for dinner, I was looking up their menu and I never eat there! I think I’ve had BK twice in my life. And now that you mentioned it again in this video it’s making me want to get it even more lol.

I just finished reading Rest Stop and I COMPLETELY agree with you! The first half was strong, the tension-building was great and it felt mysterious and creepy (I loved the notes under the door and the lightswitch part). Then that trope that you hate in horror (also agree btw!) came in and it felt so out of left field and had me rolling my eyes so bad 😂 Super weak ending to what could have been a fantastic book!

Gabby I have gurd too and discovered that I have a onion allergy! I can eat shallots but not onions. I stopped eating them as part of the fodmap diet to see if any foods triggered my gurd and when I reintroduced the onion I had a bad reaction. So I stopped eating them and my gurd has almost gone completely! Sometimes if I eat out it will be triggered but not often. Check out the FOD Map diet and maybe try it or a modified version it might help! ❤❤

I’ve tried to stay up 24 hours to read, but got to the ‘reading but not registering’ phase pretty quickly 😂 Maybe you could move the start of your challenge to 9 or 10 am? That way you can wake up more naturally. Also: please give yourself a day off after this! 🤗

I just used cinnamon, water, and this cream for the overnight part! Then I topped it with apples that got cooked with cinnamon, and almonds that got cooked with butter and coconut ☺️ it was really good! And there’s all kinds of different overnight oat recipes you can try!

It might be a good idea to get a couple to a few books started and get them to a spot where you’re invested and then leave off and save those books for later on in the night when you’re sleepy and you need something that’s gonna be exciting to read.
