The haunting of hill house show is soooo good!🎊🎊 Ps. Eleanor is Nelly's name

King consulted his wife on girl stuff for Carrie. ;) And if you're under extreme duress (which this character is) your period can be delayed. And I don't know if I'd call her mom religious so much as fanatical. He did use characteristics from a couple of classmates from his school days to compose the character Carrie and her mom. The original Carrie movie is the best! I hope you'll watch it. And Sissy Spacek (narrator of the book) is Carrie. She is brilliant.

If you want to watch something more similar to the Haunting of Hill house book, you can watch The Haunting with Catherine Zeta Jones. It’s a little campy BUT the aesthetic is great for this time of year!

I still love that movie so much! Don't care if it's cheesy! Another book that's similar to that movie is the carrow haunt by Darcy Coates but it goes in a completely different direction after the paranormal experiment in the house bit.

Great vlog!! I do think that the 70s movie version of Carrie is a lot better than the book. I'd also recommend reading Desperation and the Regulators as a side by side read since they were published on the same day as Stephen King/Richard Bachman and the characters in each novel are alternate versions of each other. Might be a cool vlog experience!

Carrie is one of my favorite horror stories! I love the anti-bullying message. You never know how big a difference you can make in someone’s life by simply being kind to them. In Carrie’s case, it could have made all the difference. I also think it’s so cool to see how Margaret can be really calm when she’s in control of the situations around her but when she loses control and doesn’t know what to do, she lashes out, which is mirrored towards the end of the book when Carrie does the exact same thing! I recommend watching the 1976 film if you haven't seen it! (EDIT: ALSO I think that the real "horror" of the novel lies in how relatable the story is for most people. I think that everyone has a small part of Carrie White in them. Whether that's being bullied or just wanting to belong. I also love this book because everyone has a breaking point, and this story explores how far you can push someone before they just "snap". Even in the news, like the serial killers you read or hear about, something or someone in their life had to push them to that point. Things had to have gone really wrong for them at some point. And like I said before, this is why it's so important to be kind to everyone you see because everyone IS going through SOMETHING and you never know how much of an impact you can make literally just by smiling at them.)

I'd highly recommend "The Lottery" by Shirley Jackson, which is a short story that is so effective in making the reader feel so many things! Her writing is so intentional with the details she puts into the story and the ending is absolutely wild and the whole tone of the story is so strange and eerie and the tension is immaculate!

It’s one of the very few mobile games of that kind that isn’t constantly reaching for your wallet or forcing you to watch ads, and everything in it can be gotten with time and patience, so there’s no need to spend money, ever. Which weirdly enough has made me spend a little money on Hay Day from time to time, lol.

First, can we get Rachel’s Mac and cheese recipe ?! Lol it always looks so good 😊 Second, I’m currently reading House on Needless street and it definitely is strange but good so far. Third, “The Haunting” with Liam Neeson and Catherine Zeta Jones would be a good but not too spooky movie to watch since it’s based on the Haunting of Hill House and lastly, Carrie the 70s version was definitely an interesting watch , it’s the feeling of anticipation that something big is about to happen that makes Carrie special. Just check it out and see what you think.😉

Eleanor is from the movie "A house on a haunted Hill" I think these 2 go hand in hand with the book somewhat because the last name in Crane and so is the main characters name in A house on Haunted Hill. Very similar so I think they are both pulling inspiration from the book.
@KDjean3 жыл бұрын
House on Haunted Hill isn’t based on the book The Haunting of Hill House. The adaptions of The Haunting of Hill House are The Haunting (63), The Haunting (99), and The Haunting of Hill House (2018 Netflix series).

@@RusticBookReviews The Haunting of Hill House book and House on Haunted Hill both came out in 59. So, even though that they have similar plots they have nothing to do with each other. So I read this article or shoot maybe it was a tweet, ok I can't remember where I learned about this but it made me think of you. Apparently, Stephen King had thrown pages of Carrie into the trash when he was working on it. His wife, Tabitha, found them and told her husband to keep with this book because it was good and she thought he had something, she even told him that she would help him with the POV of Carrie and the more female specific things she would be going through. I don't know if that helps or not but I found it interesting and thought you would too. Anyhoo! Have a great evening or day...whenever you're reading this lol! Take care :)
