@@mikem8211 You say so but in reality it is not as you say that is why Turkish Cypriots live in the north not because they support Turkiye. Did you know that Turkish Cypriot citizens of the republic of Cyprus cannot open bank accounts or can not vote in the republic of Cyprus? Do you think this is something that fits to the definition of a European union country who gives equal rights to their citizens plus the children of Turkish Cypriots who happened to be born on the north de jure soil of the republic of Cyprus are not entitled to the citizenship if they have one parent Turkish Cypriot citizen and the other parent is Turkiye Turkish, can you show me a country in the world who doesn't give ids to the direct descendant of their citizens. Come on! The republic of Cyprus is not of Cyprus but of only Greek Cypriots so they should stop being hypocrite and admit that and stop blocking the way of Turkish Cypriots

@nonamenoname2767 You've taken the land illegally what don't you understand? You want the Greek Cypriots to recognise TRNC lose all our land & get no retribution when the island of Cyprus has been Greek for over 3000 years while the Turks have been there 300 and were only 15% of the population? You need to understand in Cyprus we don't care about Greece we care about our families and quality of life Cyprus is more prosperous then Turkey & Greece why would we join either when we can be rich ourselves? You want recognition and two state soloution we want the island as one as agreed in 1960 independence settlement. Now we're never ever going to change that view it's up to you what you do join us legally and tell Turkey to leave or it stays as it is forever. Even in a thousand years the world will never recognise TRNC it was an illegal land grab and no amount of time can change that. The flag of the Republic of Cyprus was made by a Turkish Cypriot brother and we wave it proudly Turkey and Greece (who do not get involved) have absolutely no business in Cyprus it's a sovereign country yes both side's done wrong but we live in the present if we unite everything will be find but you don't want that you want to be part of Turkey bit I thought the whole point was you didn't want us to join Greece yet we're fully independent and Erdoğan decides what happens in Cyprus and he's decided he wants our oil and gas and you lot are gonna let him take it yeah great neighbours. I want peace for Cyprus and i couldn't give af about Greece or Turkey or whatever they want to be called

At 17:58 indeed is a church and is called Panagia Chrysopolitissa Church - in Keryneia. Was built in the second half of the 4th century AD and was one of the largest churches on the island. It was destroyed by turkish invaders in 1974. Seeing genitals painted on church walls, rubbish etc is so sad and turkish must respect the Christian monuments and churches...but after all is an occupied area and hundred of Christian churches are in the same condition as this one is.

What are you even talking about dude.. Based on the nonsense you say,, That means the whole country of turkey belongs to greece then?! or the whole country of america to the native americans, Or all Mediterranean countries belongs to Italy because the hundreds of years of influence of the Romans in their countries... And I dont even want to continue with the same examples, just give me the easiest answer for my question. why world war 2 happened? you said youre a historian, it happened because of germany's aggression towards his neighboring innocent countries right? now why greece's military coup that they made in the cyprus is not the same as the germany did in austria? or the way the greeks and Cypriots hunted turks as the same as the germans hunted jews? The fucking story of the history will always be written in the way the big countries wants. just imagine the similarities of the situtions I just told you. theyre same and turkey was 100% right to intervene. And even after the attack, Turkey was the only country that was willing to do a peace, a white peace where there willl be a one goverment for both of the ethnicities and not a devided country. Turkey was the side who was always fighting in the peace conferances they made to reunite the countries.. I suggest you to go and study your history a little bit more..

No country and no authority recognizes the "republic of north Cyprus" and there is an obvious reason for this. The 1974 Invasion of turkey in Cyprus. - At 18:16 the abandoned building is an orthodox church , of course you cannot identify anything getting inside because Turks destroyed all the churches in the north when they invaded the island in 1974. Hello Gabriel Nice video. From what I read about Cyprus, it seems that it is now considered a country. Known as the Republic of Cyprus, it is an independent island country. That is what I came across. Please do some more research. Maybe you can still add it as a country to your list

Gabriel, it is occupied area of the Republic of Cyprus, is not disputed and for sure is not a country. I'm following you for years, and I'm sure you didn't do that mistake in purpose but please fix the title, and be more careful with details like this. It doesn't have to do with political, it has to do with what is right and what is wrong.

Gabriel, in Girne you gotta check out belapais, also between Girne and Nicosia in the mountains there is St Hilarion castle its where Walt Disney got his inspiration for the Disney castle, then best beaches in Karpaz, the pan handle go all the way, deserted beaches miles and miles of it, there is also a church their that is still running with Greek people still living there, in Famagusta there is also Salamis, and in Famagusta there is also Varossa/Maras the old ghost town that use to be visited by celebrities, great video, my family cones from the North, happy to see you there, enjoy

What Girne?? You mean Keryneia Crime against humanity: Turks changed all the Greek toponyms that were Greek for thousands years. For example Kyrenia : Greek toponym for 4 thousands years that Turks turned to girne. That's what Turks do in general

Nice video Gabriel, it’s sad that Northern part of Cyprus was illegally occupied by Turkey in 1974. I can understand why they did it because both Turkey and Greece wanted Cyprus for their own. It’s the people on Cyprus that have suffered during all these years.. Nevertheless, enjoy your stay in Cyprus and stay safe mate 😃👍
@Mozgor
@Mozgor Жыл бұрын
Turkey intervened in 1974 to stop the systematic genocide of the Turkish Cypriots which had been going on since 50’s. Britain wouldn’t get involved cos they have military bases in Cyprus and that’s more important to them than the safety of the Turkish Cypriots, so Turkey had no choice but to intervene. The 1960 agreement handing Cyprus over to Cypriot rule, only lasted 3 years before the Turkish Cypriots were thrown out of the government and marginalised. Then the coup d’etat in 1974 was what actually caused the intervention, so if EOKA hadn’t tried to annexe Cyprus to Greece the island would still be united today.
@nickchristoforou7850
@nickchristoforou7850 Жыл бұрын
If it was merely an 'intervention', it wouldn't have lasted 49 years. Also, there was no 'systematic genocide', and many of the 5,000 Greek Cypriots killed (1% of the population) were civilians. @@Mozgor

It's not disputed, it is illegally occupied territory, as per UN Resolution 541. It would be like visiting the "disputed country" of Luhansk, or Crimea, except it's worse, because northern Cyprus was ethnically cleansed of its MAJORITY Greek Cypriot population, their property seized and occupied for nearly 50 years.
@ozzygiritli

Funny how greeks always omit the actual ethnic cleansing attempt on turkish cypriots before 1974. Turkey didnt intervene for shits and giggles. If their intention was to take the island in its entirety, they easily had the power to
