Almost all the places you've been to lately have been spoiled by graffiti on all the buildings. This isn't art, it's destruction.
@GabrielTravelerVideos
@GabrielTravelerVideos 6 жыл бұрын
I know, it's really a shame. Especially on the older historical buildings. It should be considered destruction of property. They need to increase the penalties and get cleaning crews to clean the buildings off.

dirk diggler, its not the whole europe like you described but definitely Romania is. I really hate this country, not the land itself, the land is great. I hate the shitty stupid people from here, we were a communist country till 89 but still now there are people with comie mentality. Goverment is corupt as fuck, they stole and sell us out. There is good and nice people too over here though. Im so sorry that life hasent been to fair to me and i could not leave and emigrate and leave this place for good!!

You like to draw how bout you buy a canvas or something. Not damage historic buildings. Scumbags. Spray paint your house or yer ass. Buy a legit lot. Artists in america can do it legally.
@Blablabla-tr2wo
@Blablabla-tr2wo 3 жыл бұрын
@jams5309 i agree with the other points here. Whatever you might say about the "urban life" this is property damage. Especially when done on historic buildings. Geneva had designated graffiti areas to avoid such problems. And that would be a good idea since it would create a single space for this and it could be turned into sort of a gallery. Some of the graffiti looks great. But if you draw it on a 250 year old building you should eat that spray tube
@tashaharris2138
@tashaharris2138 3 жыл бұрын
As a black British based in the UK with many Romanian friends I totally agree with your point!!!! An educated and well balanced person would never graffiti in a public place and claim that it's art!!!! It's not art its criminal damage!!! An artist would do the grafatti on a canvas and or a sheet of paper!!!! This graffiti is no good to the Romanian people and no good to tourists like me who want to enjoy the beauty of the place!!!!

I agree with the negative comments about the graffiti. It is ugly. I haven't been to Bucharest, but I saw the same ugly graffiti in Athens. In my opinion it is ruining what could be beautiful cities and shows that the residents don't have pride in their cities. How can the police and the governments allow such a thing?

Thanks for taking us along on your adventure, scouting out the city. Love this vlog - great architecture, but the graffiti takes away from the beauty of Romania. I'd hope that perhaps they'll take more pride in their country and city, in the future. (The "artists" who have trashed the buildings should take their art inside, and put it on the walls of their own apartments, if they like it so much! )

yes its really sad. they should start a 'contest' or something. distract people into taking their art somewhere else. like you can only perform your stuff if you don't tag anywhere illegal. if i owned a business like these amazing places..i would donate a few bucks toward saving my shit. i guess im coming from having been a mom to toddlers and teens. if theyre are screwing up sometimes it better to redirect than fight it out with irrational people. my opinion of course. Virginia Beach has no graffiti but they paid local artists to join up and paint stunning murals. most graffiti is shit but alot of people have talent they dont have a way to express

[Memedoze] Also, the thing about graffiti is the longer it stays on the building, more graffiti artist will add to it and the adjacent buildings. The only way to keep a handle on it is to remove it the first day it appears and repeat until the offenders go elsewhere. This method has been proven to work. But, it looks like they don't care to remedy the problem.

I haven't heard a lot about Romania, and I hadn't heard any other travelers recommend Bucharest before. Romania just isn't as well known of a country in Europe as other places. Especially if you're from the United States then most of eastern Europe is off the radar. That's one of the reasons I'm here is because it's cool to see countries that you don't know much about.

I just walk around and find restaurants randomly. So if they're cheap great, if they're a little more expensive then it's not that expensive here anyway. In this case I walked out of my apartment, went right and had to walk quite a ways past pizza places and kebab places, etc. because I wanted to find a restaurant serving Romanian food. That was the first one I came to, after walking for quite a while, so I was glad to find it. Sure I could grab some pizza or whatever on the street for cheap but I want somewhere nice where I can take a seat for a while, get a beer or wine and work on my computer, that isn't a fast food restaurant.

This Winter visit doesn't show Bucharest in it's best light. I visted in May 2019 and it was a wonderful city. Sure, a bit rough around the edges but fascinating architecture and beautiful parks. There was a fantastic light show in the fountains of the main square. And if you like night life it's full on in your face with plenty of themed bars and dancing girls (and guys) to entertain you. If you visit try a day's trip going north to the lakes which is the Romanian holiday resort area. The Communist era palace where the revolution started is spectacular. Unfortunately the Romanian airforce museum and Ceaușescu's house were closed when I visited. And it's cheap for accommodation, food and beer.

There is no snow every march in Bulgaria and Romania. In this year for the first time since 8 years. Normally there is snow from end of December to mid February. Normal weather in March is 10-15 degrees and no snow.

Hard to believe the extent of the tacky graffiti just anywhere and about everywhere there. Interesting walks. I'd say the vampires are holing up indoors keeping the blood warm so there isn't much culture to experience in Winter.

Unfortunately a very bad time to travel! The spring started with a cold and snowy cyclone from Siberia, which also affected the islands of the Adriatic Sea.

As he was in Bulgaria, was perfekt nice weather, between two cold waves - after the big snow from the end february and before the new snow from the days as Gabriel was in Romania. It was a cold week with snow also in Bulgaria on the end of march.

Great vid, Gabriel! I am definitely going to Romania in December 2022 (hopefully, it will!) once the Covid19 situation is either over or under control, and I am still learning many things. Also, it will be my first foreign country to visit. I still need advice on visiting Bucharest like the hotel, transport, and food & drink (mostly about money). Those graffiti, yuck! Anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed your visit to Romania. PS. I've owned your book on Amazon a couple of months ago and I enjoyed it! Will be reading it again later this summer. (Oct 2022) EDIT: Definitely not going to Romania this Christmas because of the money, and I still need more. Planning on relocating from the USA because of how tedious it has become, and that's why I lost interest in living in the USA. 2023 will be the year!

Just a few linguistical games. Travelling might sharpen your perception in the understanding of terms. Romania, Italy, Spai, Portugal, France have a Latin Background. As English is a mixture of Latin and other influences (thought Celtic), you might recognize a lot of terms. School becomes école in French, escuela in Spanish. You might develop more linguistical senses than you are aware of. So good luck, keep following your vids. Also follow similar vids Jojo Aigner, nomadic fire and Alex Travelbum.

funny thing you might not know - in statuary depictions, if the horse has only one hoof off the ground, the person died of natural reasons/old age. If the horse is standing upright on two legs, the person died in battle. Thought I mentioned that, as he was looking at the statue of Carol :)

This is great. I love how you're filling in info with the subtitles. Here in LA, some people paint graffiti on waterfalls. Its REALLY bizarre. On another note, have you ever been to Lumbini, Nepal?
@GabrielTravelerVideos
@GabrielTravelerVideos 6 жыл бұрын
Jesse, yes I did go to Lumbini actually: kzbin.info/www/bejne/moS2pYOKo9utnNk Not really a must-see place, especially since it's a long ways out of the way from Kathamndu or Pokhara. However if you're crossing the border from Nepal to India or vice versa then it's on that route, so it's worth stopping there.

Gabriel Traveler We were there in 2014 too. I want to go back because so many of the temples were under construction. I'd love to see the finished product. It's kinda like Buddha Disneyland with all the temples from the different countries.
