Life long Gooner who has lived in Australia for the last 30 years. For the first time I was actually too nervous to watch it live and went to bed at 9:00pm Oz time. I struggled to sleep and kept checking the time, before it was eventually 2:00am and I knew the game was over. I could not get my phone in my hand quick enough to check the score and almost wept when I saw we were able to get over the line. After that I slept like a baby! So, so proud that we were able to take ALL THREE POINTS despite our current injuries and suspension issues. Oh my god, Brisbane is RED!!!

Great win, defensive masterclass, Partey and Jorgi did fine along with the huge workrate of Havertz. Must give a mention to Saka tracking back on Udoggie. A goal for Martinelli would do wonders for him and I hope Saka gets a rest in Atalanta. Similar result next Sunday would be massive.

A year ago, Kai was a broken man who only showed his quality off the ball. Now he's oozing confidence, one of our best and most consistent players, and maybe one of the best in the league. Gabby absolutely worked his socks off up and down the line working hard for his full back. His pace was crucial in keeping them honest at the back because without that, they could have parked 10 men in our half. He has to improve his final ball but his confidence is lacking at the moment and he will know he has pressure for his place. A goal or two and we could see him back to his best. I think he needs to start at City.

I think bringing on Nwaneri towards the end is a fantastic show of faith from Arteta. The game is in the balance at 1-0 and he trusted the youngster who has only played a few minutes in the league before to come on and help the team keep it tight. He could have easily picked an experienced defensive player but he trusted him to get the job done. Arteta doing one of the few things he has been criticised on, giving the youngsters game time. North London is red!

Superb tactics by Arteta with team selection to play the block and get them on the break (not our usual game), should have done the subs sooner I think though, superb defending all round but especially our brick wall of Saliba and Gabriel, really showing how hard we are to beat even when teams are on top of us. Another win for our set piece training, another goal contribution for Saka.

All the talk about getting a center forward seems to always have a hint of criticism of Havertz, but with Odegaard and Rice out, we really got to see how important he is now for Arsenal. Picking up from where he left off after we went down to 10-man against Brighton, he put in a monstrous shift again. His versatility (which is so underrated) made the lineup today possible with our depleted squad. Compared to where he was 1 year ago, its chalk and cheese. When last year he needed that penalty to get his confident up, now he is almost single-handedly dragging Arsenal over the line. What a signing by Arteta. Trust the process and bring on City next! - Chong

I was thinking during this game that Totteringham were trying to out physical Arsenal. It's a stupid tactic that teams still try, when will they learn? Hi Charles, what a result, I just love watching this team defend, hunger, desire, resilience, just a proper defensive unit. Gabriel MOTM, was back to his best, blocks, tackles, nothing was getting past him and scored the winner. Timber and Saliba were excellent too. Saka and Martinelli weren’t great going forward but both put in a real shift defensively. And Havertz as well never stopped running, fantastic work rate. I thought your rating of 7 out of 10 for Arteta was a bit low. I thought he deserved at least a 8, got his tactics spot on with the midfield he had available and the opposition. North London is RED. Keep up the great content

Charles I have to question some of those player raitings. Martinelli was hopeless in attack and got caught out a few times defensively. So I would swap his rating with Trossard. Who I thought gave the ball away a bit but worked well with Havertz in a double false nine system. And Arteta deserved a 9 for this performance. Down THREE crucial midfielders his tactical set up worked to perfection. I thought a 7 was harsh.

Hey Charles. Though it was a short space of time, Nwaneri displayed real talent in the biggest game of the season. Hope he will get more minutes against Atalanta in the champions league as well. I counted 6 missing from the squad - Rice, Odegaard, Califiori, Merino, Zinchenko, Tomiyasu - so to do a job away at Spurs (again) shows real warrior mentality, especially with it being the curtain raiser to such a tough week. I have to admit though, I hope we find a bit more sharpness up front soon.

We’ve only allowed 1 goal all season, and that goal was conceded when we were unfairly made to play with 10 men against Brighton. That’s pretty incredible given the quality of opposition we’ve had to play against so far. So much credit needs to be given to our back four and Raya. If we keep up that level of defending, we’ll be in the title race all season.

Hi Charles, I know you don't hand out 10/10 ratings often... but given the context and the performance I think big Gabi has to be pretty close. Rice suspended. Jorginho ahead of him hadn't played a premier league minute this season. Timber next to him hadn't finished a full EPL game. The man probably only arrived back from international duty on Friday. There was so much brinkmanship around this week... I wouldn't have considered a draw at Spurs & City a terrible outcome. We've already got three points from these two games now. Without Gabriel's ability in both boxes today, we would be fearing for our season in September. Give the lad a 10.

Charles, I can't believe you gave Trossard 5. He was our best forward. He played 4 excellent passes from the inside-left position, only for Martenelli to waste those chances. He also showed fantastic skill on the halfway line when he juggled past 3 Spurs players who surrounded him. Trossard also made an excellent counter-attacking pass, which led to the corner, that Gabriel scored from. I have noticed, over the last year, that you always mark Trossard down in your ratings. That shows you have a clear bias against him. He deserved a 7 at least.

Great victory, that's artetas doing, my two concerns from the match, martinelli lacks confidence in final decisions, but his work rate is great, and for me I was worried about sterling, he looked tired straight away, and wasn't sprinting back to help the team, he was just jogging, might be his mindset isn't quite in line with artetas yet, but I was expecting lung busting sprinting from sterling.

Also have you noticed nothing was made of Szoboszlai blasting the ball away when on a yellow card on Saturday, Rice taps a ball gets a second yellow and it’s all over every platform. You said it at the time if the ref used his common sense (although it’s not that common) no one would’ve mentioned it but with Arsenal players theirs a story. Finally the Timber tackle on Porro it isn’t even a foul let alone a booking and pundits on sky saying he was lucky not to see red is just ridiculous but the way modern day top level football has gone pathetic. Anyway keep up the good work I may not always agree with your opinions (especially your Havertz loving) but hey football is about opinions and you’re very good at what you do. Stay blessed🙏🏿

I thought Martinelli, considering the criticism of him lately, had a good game. He should have scored his chance or squared it to Saka of course but it doesn't diminish his overall game, just says something about his confidence. He's obviously better suited to higher backlines and I feel he should be given more chances against higher backlines because I'm almost certain his finishing is a confidence issue which will be fixed once he gets enough chances to score. I'd start him against Atalanta and City, use Trossard off the bench.

I know about the platitudes of leagues are won by great defences but to get to the next level I think we need to improve so much offensively. Set pieces should be our bonuses not our main source of goals. If city go down to 10 men you can't tell because their tactical accumen and skill is so good they just attack with confidence. I hope that's not Arteta's celling

Well said! I want him to do well, but I think he has reached his ceiling at Arsenal... just like Rashford at Man United. A new coach, like Jurgen Klopp may know how to bring out the best in him. If we are offered money in the summer for him, take it and wish him well.

Morning Charles you’ve called Havertz performance as ‘exceptional’!! I had to watch the game back and he was anything but ‘exceptional’. He gave the ball away on numerous occasions once late on that led to Kulusevski shooting just over the bar. Come on this Havertz ‘over praise’ each week has to stop please, he’s doing well but to place his performance yesterday as ‘exceptional’ imo is far off the mark. Saliba, Gabriel, Timber and Raya were standouts with the rest doing their dogid roles (which I’m not knocking) 3yrs ago with the team we had we’d have crumbled.

Saliba had a really stupid booking early on which could have compromised him. Luckily he wasn't caught out again. Also, Jorghino looked slow and off the pace in the first half. He did improve but really Arteta should be giving players like him some minutes rather than expecting them to just turn up and perform on their first outing of the season. Otherwise I pretty much agree with the ratings.

Thought Jorginho did well, but Partey becoming a liability

Wasn’t much game time for sterling but that little time he had was not assuring, if running and backing away and simply pointing to others is all he’s offering then it’s not gonna end well

I'm a bit worried about Partey and Martinelli's performances. Partey doesn't have any pace left in his legs and gives the ball away too many times and the decision making of Martinelli is very poor. For the City game I would drop Partey and play Jorginho next to Rice.
