Ross: "This easily feel like it's gonna be the highest score of this heat! He should take control, Ronnie!" . Ross continues: "...The wave was an absolute dream... I would not be surprised if this goes past a 9!" . Ronnie calls Strider Wasilewski: "That was honestly the best wave we've seen all day!" diz Strider. . While waiting for the score Ross commented: "Well, I actually agree with Strider! That was the best wave we've seen all day!" Ronnie calls Barton Lynch and he starts with "That wave of Gabi was amazing..."! Suddenly the score is announced: Medina - 8,30! Barton naturally says: "WHAT???" . Ross comments: "I share your shock, Barton!" . Barton repeats again: "WHAT??" . Ross continues: "I honestly thought that was gonna be at least a 9, minimum!" . Barton: "Obviously I think we are all a little bit shocked! I thought that was the best wave of the heat and if that first one of Gabi was a 8,83 this one had to be a 9,5!" . Barton continues: "There's no way... ahh... Gabriel's was definitely better than Tanner 8,5... No question in my mind!" . With 2 minutes to the end of the heat Ronnie calls Strider in the water and he says: "To me that was the score that he needed, it was the best wave I've seen come through...!" .

Tanner was surfing amazing, but after that 9 (all the guys said it was 9 at least, and the one in the water said 9.5) from Medina was turned into an 8.3 (which was the highest possible score that made Medina NOT win the heat he needed so much to take the lead in the race for the world title) I completely lost the mood to watch this event... Teahupo'o's heat against John John could go either side... But this!?? Medina did five or six vertical turns in the "best wave of the day" as many of the guys said...

2016 & 2017 era do Medina, mas a partir de 2016 FORJARAM um rapaz que surfa até muito bem, mas que não precisava de vários, repito, vários empurrões. A FORJA infelizmente manchou as vitórias de JJ, eles mesmos destroem seus meninos, ainda que Medina supere de alguma forma essa insólita e estranha WSL. Hoje ele é TRI, amanhã será TETRA.

Tanner's first wave was underscored while Gabriel's was overscored Tanner's second score was about right or pretty close where as Gabriel's was underscored... just a close heat nothing we can do about it now, wouldn't say that's what makes the WSL corrupt

And if you look at their high scores, you won't necessarily see radical moves, but moves very precisely executed, which was what Medina did on that wave. What about the wave selection? Wasn't that criteria that made Medina lost for JW at the pipe masters final? Como on guys, try to be consist.

Isso me lembra o Felipe em Pipeline. Pegou um tubo bem melhor que o Mason e recebeu uma nota inferior. Logo na sequência um brasileiro se torna campeão e ganha o evento... It reminds me of Felipe Pipeline. He took a better pipe than Mason, and received a lower score. Soon following a Brazilian becomes champion and win the event...

People is over reacting (i dont mean to be sinical). The problem is that we as fan got used to judges overscoring Gabe. In my opinion he rode the best wave that come through but in a very safe and conservative manner. Look Gudaskas 12 o clock top to bottom surfing, it looks really exciting and risky. Gabe is a great competitor and knows how to play the game, but his surfing was not up there with Gudaskas(who by the way is the first time i ever see him surf). A lot of surfers got robbed against Gabe all the time and nobody says a word. Gabe is overrated in my opinion. No hate just my two cents.

After rewatching the wave Medina did two decent hacks and just a bunch of tiny cutbacks. I don't think it deserved the 9.0. Gud didn't do 20 moves on a wave, but he threw three to four solid hacks off the lip. Bigger moves = bigger scores.
