Filip Marmazakovic I don't quite get where you're coming from with regards to me saying that I wish I could play anything! I think she's great - I'm certainly not debating anyone's command of the English language. I don't actually play any musical instruments to ANY level. I just wish I could play something to Gabriella's level...

In my mind I keep trying to define what it is that Gabriella does that is so special in most of her pieces. For me there is a base of simplicity and perfection when it comes to the timing and the precision of the notes. You can clearly here each cord and there is a perfect amount of time space between them and no messiness created by a rush of notes bleeding over each other. Next behind that timing is a great amount of detail between the original track and what she is conveying behind what the vocals would have given. I know there is more to it I just can't articulate what it is that we're actually hearing. Clarity + precision + detail + timing = greatness

Her playing is very ephemeral. It's almost magical how great she is. I think part of it is due to her having a calmness with her place in the universe. I don't know her(she would probably be a great friend though) but I feel she a very relaxed person.

All these comments talking about “talent”. Sure she’s talented, but talent doesn’t produce this. I can’t even comprehend the amount of work and focus that’s gone into producing this level of playing.
@robstevenson64324 жыл бұрын
People frequently talk about talent or a gift. In one of her KZbin interviews she says that, as a teenager, she was playing guitar like 6-8 hours a day -- she went to school (maybe played guitar before going to school), came home, did her homework as fast as possible, played guitar til bedtime. That's how she got 'talent'.
@paullehmor9824 жыл бұрын
It is remarkable that she had only played for two years when this was recorded. She started at age of 12. Got bored just playing chords after a few months and started to learn fingerstyle. I think Tommy Emmanuel said that one key to progress is to choose songs that you really want to play, regardless if they seem to hard. She picked the hardest goals and found a role model in Sungha Jung, an acrobat that does tricks on the guitar that are impossible for most players. She actually played on stage with Sungha eight months before this video was uploaded!
@Endrow784 жыл бұрын

Just goes to show you - a young lady with a classical guitar can sometimes make something magical - no amps, no dueling guitars, no bass, no drums no effects pedals - just two hands, some wood and nylon. It's by far not the most complex or fast piece she has ever done, but it shows an artful touch and ton of soul. Bravo!
@bigbadbrad18945 жыл бұрын
Its a steel string guitar dude. Some of them have head stocks similar to a classical.
@timbaka14805 жыл бұрын
@@bigbadbrad1894 Nope, I have both classical and modern (steel string) guitars. And I agree that there are some guitars out there that are strung with steel on a classical framework (generally, light gauge). Also, this is definitely a hybrid vehicle - the bridge and pick guard are typical of steel strung guitars, but the tone on the E and B strings are warmer than steel strings would be.
@paullehmor9825 жыл бұрын
@@timbaka1480 This guitar is a custom built steel stringed Taylor GC8e, a discontinued model. Gabriella normally uses Elixir Nanoweb phosphor bronze .11-.52 strings. A slotted headstock does, of course, not mean that the guitar has nylon strings. Nylons don't have 1 11/16" nut width as this one! Taylor builds several steel stringed models with slotted stock, for example some of the 12 fret models (although this is 14). It's a matter of tradition and style. In Sweden we have several luthiers (e.g. Åstrand and Sandén) who use slotted headstocks for their steel stringed models. I asked Åstrand about the tonal differences between traditional pegheads and slotted stocks and not even him, one of the worlds most recognized builders, had a clear opinion about which sounds best. He considered it mostly an aesthetical issue. Some builders though claim that in particular 12 fretters sound better with slotted stock. You should never set up a *classical guitar* built for nylon strings with steel strings. The neck and the bracing are not dimensioned to handle the tension from steel strings, which is about 4-5 times that of nylon strings.

Luis Valdivia No it's not a classical using steel strings. That headstock is called a slotted headstock, which a lot of steel string guitars have (I have one). You are also looking at the wrong end, if you want to determine if it is a classical or steel string look at the bridge, on a steel string you will see bridge pins and on a classical you will see knots on each string (except on a very few and usually old occasions).

Gabriella, as she was b4 the once-per-minute sultry glances at the camera! Damn fine on the guitar as well, even way back when, as long as 9 years ago! Got all of Metallica's stuff on audio-cassette somewhere - so, enjoyed that.

I suspect that by your presence, even though it is only digital for most of us, and your music, you are keeping many people feeling less lonely or alone. On their behalf and my own I thank you and hope that life rewards you for the generosity in your sharing.

I have been playing this song for about 12 years now. I love it. How can 2,598 not like this arrangement? They obviously never have picked up a guitar for more than 5 minutes. Well played girl!

Wow! I didn't even notice there were 2K dislikes. That proves that there are at least 2K dorks in the world.

I don't really like this arrangement but it's nice because some people prefer other ways to play it and it's our own opinion and critics mostly were pros or people that wanna search for vocal+guitar

What does them not liking it have to do with their ability to play guitar? Get real.

So close, no matter how far Couldn't be much more from the heart Forever trusting who we are And nothing else matters Never opened myself this way Life is ours, we live it our way All these words I don't just say And nothing else matters Trust I seek and I find in you Every day for us something new Open mind for a different view And nothing else matters Never cared for what they do Never cared for what they know But I know So close, no matter how far Couldn't be much more from the heart Forever trusting who we are And nothing else matters Never cared for what they do Never cared for what they know But I know I never opened myself this way Life is ours, we live it our way All these words I don't just say And nothing else matters Trust I seek and I find in you Every day for us, something new Open mind for a different view And nothing else matters Never cared for things they say Never cared for games they play Never cared for what they do Never cared for what they know And I know, yeah! So close, no matter how far Couldn't be much more from the heart Forever trusting who we are No, nothing else matters
