Gabrielle, I was diagnosed with chronic depression at puberty and am now 72. Life does get easier when I focus on my gratitude journal, painting, sewing and crafts. The creative process releases dopamine to make us feel better, so even when I'm not feeling particularly creative, I can grab a pencil & write silly poetry or ideas for projects. Thank you for sharing your experience with us . Your artwork is beautiful and I'm into neurographic art as well.😊

It's so lovely to connect with you and thank you so much for having the courage to share part of your journey with me/us here. ❤️ I'm so happy your creative endeavors are helping you through your depression. Gratitude and creativity have been such saving graces for me too. Yay for all the ways neurographic art brings us joy! Big hugs 🤗🤗

When I was in an apartment building for the elderly and disabled, we had a coloring group. We used mostly colored pencils and free printouts from the internet. Such a good time to just chat and share. Then, we would hang them on the bulletin board. I miss that, but now I am learning all I can about watercolor painting ❤

Hi Barbara 🤗💕 I can imagine that it would be hard to lose your the connections you had in your coloring group. I'm glad to see you are giving yourself an opportunity to explore something new and if you ever have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out. PS I have also used colored pencils to create neurographic art and this can be lots of fun too. ☺️

Thank you for your kindness and support 🥰 As I know insomnia can often accompany depression, if I ever lull you to sleep, please know that it will only ever be interpreted as a great compliment 🤗 Thank you for making time to connect with me and share part of your story. It means so much to me 🥰 I took medication for many years before I was able to feel well enough to do without them. Thank you so very much for sharing your art and techniques. It is perfect for me and my brain. I was diagnosed with adult onset epilepsy 12 years ago. I am 73. It is controlled by meds but I have suffered from anxiety and depression off and on in my life. Intuitive art, abstract and neurographics really helps me and I feel so great when creating. Thank you for sharing your story. I rarely talk about mine because yes shame. You are truly a blessing. 😀♥️

Hi 💕🤗 Thank you so much for making the time to reach out to me and share part of your story. I appreciate your courage and it means a lot to me for us to connect like this. So many of us struggle in silence for fear we will not be understood. And though it's true many may not understand, many of us do understand because we live with similar struggles. I'm so happy to see you're using art therapeutically! It has been such a saving grace for me ❤️ We are not alone 🤗 Thank you for your kindness! You are a blessing to me too 💕

When talking about mental health, it is important to include that health care is inaccessible to too many. That is the number 1 barrier to getting help. More than shame. Look at Jordan Neely for example. A man crying out loud for help and instead got 2 hands around his neck till dead. I do love your art work and find you to be an inspiration.❤ Thank you.

Thank you Denise ❤️ Yes, what you say is so true and it is also very sad. Hopefully, the more we can talk openly about mental health, the more we can diminish the stigma and fears around the subject so people can gain better access to the support they need.

Thank you, for the beautiful art, the process and for sharing your story. It is easy to feel very alone. Sometimes I stay quiet because I fear that if I start trying to explain I will never stop. The mindfulness of painting is a balm and I like being reminded that there is not one set way to do things. I am sure that you help many people. ❤

Thank you for connecting with me and sharing part of your journey ❤️ I get what you say about trying to explain. I felt that way for a long time too. I'm a the point where I honestly don't think we have to explain anything, just share because I know someone out there also gets it. One thing is for sure, it wasn't so easy to share with just anyone, especially at first. There is so much stigma and the last thing anyone needs is to feel more judged. Now, I know that we all have something we are dealing with, so more importantly I have stopped judging myself. Thank you for your compassion and courage ❤️ It means more to me than you could ever know! I'm so happy creativity has given us a way to connect ☺️

You are so right about staying silent but I’m not there yet. Only my closest friends know about my struggles. I spent 10 weeks in a mental health facility with few people knowing. Thank you so much for having the courage to connect with me about this ❤️🤗 Please do not feel any pressure to speak openly about your journey until you feel ready to do so (I will say however that this was a wonderful step and I promise you, I am a safe person to share this with 💕). I'm glad to see you have friends you can be open with about your depression and I also am so glad to see you are reaching out for support in the healthcare community because there are ways to heal and it all begins with support from the right people. It is hard to find people who understand and I know we still have a road to travel before there can be more acceptance. Many have called me weak for my struggles but I know, and I hope you know, that it takes a lot of strength and resilience to walk this journey. Thank you again for your courage & thank you for being here with me. ❤️ Let's keep painting this world more beautiful 🤗🎨

Then i just hang on and wait for it to pass or i go to church ( which i should do every week anyways. Thats what has helped me. Im not interested in the pills but hey its whatever qorks for any person. Its line that "do what works for you" and we are all different. Im happy for you to feel so much better in your life . I have only just recently discovered you, and I am so glad that I did. I am a creator, always enjoyed making things with my hands, but never considered myself an artist because I cannot sketch or paint or make anything "figural." But I have really been itching to try my hand at painting for quite some time now, so finally I bought a watercolor set and some good paper and a few brushes, and your art was my inspiration to open up the supplies and actually get started. I am going to use this video and the piece that you created here as the inspiration for my next session. I have never heard of neurographic art, but I am fascinated and want to learn more. The style that you did here feels accessible to me, and I learned from the first painting you inspired last week that it is indeed very therapeutic. I am suffering from some anxiety and depression lately, and the focus that this type of art brings is like a soothing balm. Thank you for sharing not only your immense talent with us, but a little about your mental health journey as well. That is so meaningful and you are helping people. Thank you! I will be watching so many more of your videos on my own journey. ❤

uhhh I have been through so many difficult things in the past year and somehow I ended up getting into art. I have absolutely zero experience with any sort ofw I’ve always just consider that some thing that I can’t do but the issues I’ve had over the past year have made me need something to focus on that I can do in a quiet area by myself, so that is why I decided to try painting it has been the most amazing thing to realize that this is exactly what I needed. I just found your channel today and it is making me so happy thank you.

Thank you for showing me what I need to create in my life , I have done some intuitive art myself and find it calms my spirit , most of the time I don't know what I'm going to do when I sit down to paint , so I close my eyes and touch my paper and I get a spark in my minds eye and I pick up my pencil and start making rocks , and a few doodles , then I'm on my way to something very special , since I've been painting this way my daughter Cyndi wants everything I paint and when I finish a painting I sit back and enjoy what I have created , thank you so much for starting me on this journey !

Thank you for making the time to reach out again and share with such compassion and understanding ❤️ (I may or may not have read a few Brené Brown books over the years ☺️😉) I empathize with your experience. It was a long journey for me too and even though I am feeling healthy and well now, I know there's always a possibility it will knock on my door again. The difference now is that I am much better equipped to recognize when I'm slipping down the slope so I can put all of my tools and resources into action. I wish you much support, resources and love on your journey. You are not alone and I am so thankful for the courage you show in sharing your story and the compassion you so kindly offer me. ❤️ Big hugs being sent your way too 🤗

WOW I just came across your video!!!! You talked about your depression and Neo art. It's amazing how you can just go into another realm of calmness. The salt idea is awesome for texture...didn't think about salt...As I watched and lessened to you, you brought a HUGE calm to my soul and the Ideas of art just came flooding in. I've been doing Neo art for a few months now, and I have an art bag which I take every where. And seeing the wonderful art you do and how it works with our brain is just amazing. I have just found your KZbin channel and feel like you and I are artistic soulmates in a way. I love watercolor but find myself struggling to pick subject matter. I have often related, though, with geometric shapes, especially circles. At some point, years ago, I was intrigued into buying a book about "crop circles." AND I remember how fun it was when I discovered neurographic art! Lastly, I join you and others in the challenge presented over the years by depression. But, thank God, I had my love of art and crafts, my small group of lovely woman friends who shared my passions, and, last but not least, my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. I look forward to watching more of your videos. Thank you for sharing your gift.

My daughter suffers from severe depression, anxiety, bipolar and schizophrenia. She has a very sad lonely life. I can only pray that one day she will have the mindset you have, and she'll do some things to help herself get better! Extra hugs for you this week! 🤗💕 Regarding this week's painting I find it so relaxing and I love the white dots you added. I can totally relate to you going through depression. I am an artist as well and have had my fair share of depression. Creating art seems to be an Avenue out of my depression. Why is it that it seems most artists in music or creative people all seem to suffer from some forms of depression? Is it some sort of balance between right brain- left brain that takes place? I wonder. Any way, I love your art and your videos, they are truly mesmerizing 👍😊

❤️☺️Thank you so much for making the time to connect with me Sherry! You ask an interesting question and one that I’ve wondered about as well. Maybe you’re on to part of the answer and I wonder also if people with very creative minds are also very sensitive and attuned with their emotions and the need to express themselves. The word sensitive is a bit of a tricky one to use here as I’m sure many of us often here we are « too sensitive ». I’ve come to appreciate how sensitive I am because it makes more empathic and able to connect with other people. Regardless, creativity is a blessing in my life and I’m glad it is helpful to you as well. ❤️🤗

Most of the paper and paint that you use is readily available here in the UK, but the one that really fascinates me is the Kremer pigment. The effect that it has in the final touches, just makes everything 'pop'. I have looked everywhere for this over here, I've even tried a few things that I thought would have a similar effect, but nothing matches your Kremer pigment. Would it be under another name in the UK? Would I have to order it from somewhere in the USA? Does anybody reading this have any suggestions? Anything that you can suggest would be considered. Thank you so much for letting me watch you work and appreciating the mindful, restful state that you lull me into whilst I watch you. Many, many thanks

Hi Liz ❤️ First of all, thank you so much for your kindness and I'm so happy we are able to connect here ☺️ Yes, you are right that Kremer Pigments (especially their iridescent paints) stand out among many of the other paints I've tried. I know they are available in the US and in the EU, but I'm not sure about the UK (though I do see a little British flag icon at the top right of their website - www.kremer-pigmente.com/en/). Friends in Europe have definitely been able to buy from them and I do think they ship to the UK (again, I'm not sure). CSY Art Gallery Watercolors (which I think might be available through Amazon in the UK) makes two iridescent paint sets that seem to have really nicely pigmented paints that could be similar to Kremer's paints (I haven't tried them yet so I cannot say for sure, but they do look promising). The Tropical Sunrise Magic Green I used in this video has interference properties (the color seems to shift slightly in the light) and it's might be harder for me to find another paint to replace it just off the top of my head... Maybe Coliro Pearlcolors could be similar? Their Magical Creatures set has some nice option though maybe not quite as shimmery... I hope this can offer you a few good leads! If you discover anything fantastic along the way, please don't hesitate to share as it could be useful to me and probably many of our other creative friends in this community ☺️ Thank you for making the time to connect 🥰

Whst is the Magic Green? Is it interference paint? Anyone know where to get it?

Hi Josina ☺️ The Magic Green is the iridescent color I applied in the middle of the shapes in my painting. To me, it is definitely reminiscent of an interference paint. ☺️ It is actually called Tropical Sunrise Magic Green and is available through Kremer Pigments. Here is a link to the product on their website: shop.kremerpigments.com/us/shop/ready-made-colors/506588-kremer-watercolor-colorstream-t10-03-tropical-sunrise.html. They are a very busy company and so if you place an order, it can take some time for the order to arrive. But, my orders from them have always been worth the wait ☺️

Hi Audrey 🤗❤️ I am not sure why your salt in particular is not working, but you sure have me wondering why mine seems so special 😂🤔 I will tell you exactly what salt I am using: amzn.to/4eQzR1b. We have had it for years and I honestly didn't think there was anything special to it. BUT, I have noticed on the container that it says this salt in particular does not have iodine. Could that be the missing link everyone is wondering about (and now me included 🤔). I'm not sure. It seems like regular old table salt to me. The kind people put in a salt shaker. So I wonder, is there iodine in your salt and could this be the thing that makes mine different? The other factors I generally consider to be more important are the quality of the paper and how damp or wet the paper is when the salt is applied. I am tempted to run some tests with other kinds of salt to see if the salt itself really does make a difference... I know some people from our community have mentioned that they have very fine salt and that this very fine salt does not seem to work as well. It's a bit of a mystery at this point, but I am going to investigate further 😉 Thank you for making the time to watch and connect ☺️
