Great review, I have about 40 flights on my Bebop 2 and you are spot on with the pros as well as the cons. I too wish the Bebop had more internal memory. For the money, the Bebop 2 has been my favorite drone to have with me for quick flights and photos of areas of interest. The Flight Plan option has been worth the extra 20 bucks. I have really had a lot of fun programming and watching the Bebop 2 go through its flight plan. The videos have been great using this function. Thanks for the great KZbin videos, keep up the great work.

Hey Chip, thanks for the feedback. Glad to hear you're enjoying yours...I certainly love to fly mine. Every quad had good and bad and knowing what they are is half the battle. The BB2 is such an underrated bird.

I wanted you to know that these videos made me a believer of this drone. The range, it's reliable and it is fun to fly. My Granddaughters have flown it and, well, it is just the best. I believe it is best with the original sky controller. I like the newer version, but the original is the best for range. I have over a dozen drones now and have flown many hours. I am so glad I found your videos. Between you and Mr. Dunnill I have enjoyed my new hobby. Be safe my friend..
@GadgetInspector6 жыл бұрын
Hello there, glad you're enjoying the hobby, even with the grandkids. I have always wanted to try the BB2 with the original controller, I was wondering if range was any better. Kinda looks like you're doing something serious when flying with that thing. Thanks for the kind words and thanks for watching.

ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC REVIEW VIDEO!!!! Love, love, love the format. You hit all the key pluses and minus with this video...One of the best review videos I've seen and I've seen a LOT. It's a blue print of what a Drone review videos should be..I really like that you hit on all the key concerns/weaknesses of the product but you also said what you really love about the drone. Honestly I hadn't considered the Parrot Bebop 2 but now I will give it serious consideration. This video literally saved me HOURS of research! I am looking for a drone that I will be able to save or stream videos to my iPhone immediately, and then use my iMovie app to then edit those videos... I don't want a drone that I will have to take my videos and import them into my PC in order to edit them... Will this drone do that?
@GadgetInspector7 жыл бұрын
Absolutely. Once you're done flying/filming, the app will actually prompt you to download the video/photo files to your phone. You can always initiate that yourself of course. All of the files will transfer right to your phone and you can edit them just like any other video. Depending on how large the video files are it could take a while to transfer, but it definitely works just fine.

well the reason is so underrated as more then awful photo/video quality , had one , could not live with such terrible video quality so taking on holiday to film is out of question but flying and just flying for fun is ok . Most people buy drones not o fly about but to film and take photos .

Thanks for the feedback David. That's exactly how I try to do my reviews (especially for the advanced drones) because the only way to really get to know a quad is to use it for a while. Stay on the lookout for a video on flight plans which is another amazing feature this bird has. Thanks again.

I'm currently looking for different drones within the same price range that, offer the same , if not more features. So far I haven't found a product that delivers these pros vs the small # of cons even according to your scale. I totally appreciate the honesty that you put into your review... Hey thanks for the nice comment. The one thing I don't think I indicated in this video is that range is better in less densely populated areas. It can be limited when flying in areas with a lot of wifi interference. Otherwise this is a great drone especially for the price these days. They're probably a little harder to find now though.

@r4ym1n136 жыл бұрын
Mike Wrobe i just bought the parrot 2 weeks ago and i say it is excellent. Very easy to use. $100 cheaper than the spark, way longer flight time with a superb 25 minutes, and it comes with the FPV googles. Very intuitive app easy to use. For your concern, do not fly the parrot with your phone only on wifi, the app will crash. It happened to me yesterday but the return to hone instantly kicked in and came back instantly. There is a setting in the app, i put it to the lowest which is 3 seconds to return to home after lost of signal. So make sure to connect the cable supplied to your phone to the controller, no issues for me flying it very high and far
@GadgetInspector6 жыл бұрын
Awesome. You got it for a great price too.
@GadgetInspector6 жыл бұрын
I have not tested the Spark, but if the price drops any I might grab one. With that said, from everything I've seen it's a great little drone. I think the Spark beats the BB2 in the video and photo quality, but the BB2 wins in range and flight time. If you get the Spark make sure to get extra batteries which is an additional cost. BB2 batteries are like $50-60 last time I checked and I think 2 is plenty. That's 40-50 minutes of flight time.

The camera is good and is made for bright sunny days. I have not had any problems with updates, firmware etc. I have had 2 crashes which were totally my fault and thanks to the drone's construction, came out just fine. Excellent video and review, right off the bat. This looks like you get a lotta bang for your buck, but I'm concerned about a few things. Landing seems a little rough, but probably not a deal breaker. I noticed when you were tilting up on one of the parts of your flying videos, it seemed like it was kind of doing a little Pogo stick thing. Just enough to bother me, but that's the only time I noticed it. All the other parts seemed really smooth. This still looks like a whole lotta bang for the buck, no matter what, and you did a great review on it. Marc

Great to hear that and glad it's useful. From what I've seen from the Spark you can't go wrong with that one, and you know I'm a big fan of the BB2. So either way you'll be getting a solid bird. My family surprised me out the blue with one of these for Xmas , I have no drone experience, and to be honest I have no clue why they thought to get this for me. It seems complicated, but your video has helped me a lot and I feel a little more comfortable trying to fly this thing now. I just gotta wait for a warmer day.
@GadgetInspector7 жыл бұрын
Wow, you have an awesome family. Congrats, they got you a good one. If you have any questions let me know, it can be overwhelming especially if you're new to drones. My overall advice is to take everything slow. You can familiarize yourself a lot right there in the house before you put it in the air. If you power on the drone in the house do it without the props on though, but you can get the controller, app, and any firmware updates knocked out right in the crib. You can get everything setup in the app and all that right in the house. Again, congrats.

Gadget Inspector I can’t seem to get the sky controller 2 to connect to my phone or I pad. When I use a usb cable it still tells me the remote control isn’t detected , and nothing pops up for Bluetooth or WiFi. I did manage to get it flying with my I pad yesterday. But when I tried to day to get it working , I’d try to connect to the bebop WiFi and it kept saying that the network didn’t have internet and the camera wouldn’t work.

Gadget Inspector I actually just found a video to help me. So I’ve got it working properly now. The only thing I can’t figure out is if you can watch or preview the videos taken with the drone before you transfer them to your device. I’m guessing you have to transfer the video in order to watch it.
@GadgetInspector7 жыл бұрын
Nameless Bum If you connect the drone to your pc via usb you can just play the videos off of the drones hard-drive. Otherwise you have to transfer the video to your phone or pc first to view.

You're going to love the Phantom 4. Great videos! I hope you aren't using a tablet for viewing. I and many others had issues with firmware upgrades. I wound up buy a new iPad. All the problems went away since that purchase. It was a real nightmare before. System crashes, and mostly no video or the tablet would pixelate terribly. If you search my name on KZbin you'll see a couple of my videos. There's one I recommend from Holy Hill in Wisconsin. That one was my only one with professional quality. I'm just a hobbyist.

Absolutely right. I too was really surprised how quiet the Bebop is. About the RTH 60' comment, mine doesn't do that below 60'. It just returns home maintaining whatever altitude it had been hovering and flies back. Don't know anything about going up to 60'. And oddly, my RTH is never any closer than 15'. Mine is only one week old as of this posting though.
@GadgetInspector7 жыл бұрын
Hmm...that's strange. I'll have to check that RTH again, but the return accuracy is also surprising. It should be landing a lot closer than 15-feet away from the home spot.

Hey, just got my B2 today! I dont know if you’ll like this or not, but I’ve been looking at the new MAVIC PRO and I was at Best Buy today returning something for my son and of course I had to go look at it again. Funny it was $1,300.00 at Cost Co and it was $1,500.00 at Best Buy. Anyway my son said look here’s one for 299.00, I expected to see a P O C , but it was the B2 with the FPV! I couldn’t believe that it was so cheap. So I grabbed one of the Tech’s and he said that all was included, but the price was 399.00., which is expensive for me, but he said if you get it today I’ll give it to you for 299.00, long story short. I got it! I’m literally waiting for it to chargynow, and watching review videos like yours, and I must say you made me very happy, thank you. It’s getting dark here now, I’m on the west coast so it Looks like tomorrow will be my first flight. Wish me luck!

I do like that; I'm a drone enthusiast, so I like all kinds. I will actually be getting a Mavic Pro once the price drops. You got yourself a good drone there with the BB2. I have been trying to put the word out about the price drop on it. It has been hovering between that $299 and $399 price for the past couple of months since the new Anafi was released. I'm a big fan of it, so I think it's more than worth. I paid $600 for mine over a year ago. Well, I hope you enjoy it as much as I have. Thanks for sharing.

Very nice review. Am looking at this bird being my next drone. Seems like many of us are caught in that gray area between "best for photography" and "best for fun" at a reasonable price. I would probably choose the phantom 3 standard for really stable photography; and the Bebop 2 for all around fun and not quite as good photography. One thing I'm wondering about though is does the Bebop have headless mode? Seems that without headless mode you're constantly trying to figure out the orientation of the Drone.
@GadgetInspector7 жыл бұрын
Thanks Alyn. I do not believe the BB2 has headless mode. With that said, I recommend getting a little cheap toy drone to learn orientation. It will increase your confidence and reduce any anxiety you might have while flying an expensive drone. Also, if something goes wrong you'll be able to adjust on the fly (no pun intended). A great way to learn orientation is by flying the quad in a figure eight over and over. The most effective way is to fly in the shape of a large square. Forward, turn the quad left, turn the quad left, turn the quad left and do that over and over. Then do the reverse. You will start to get a sense of where the front of the bird is and momentum, etc. I may do a video on this if I find some time because I think its a necessary skill to have when flying. The weather has been so horrible that I haven't been able to fly my BB2 much, but once spring hits it'll be getting lots of air time.
@ralyn437 жыл бұрын
Gadget Inspector I agree with your observations. I have been practicing on a little mini drone that I can fly in the house and Outdoors under no wind conditions. Hello again Inspector, I'm standing at the door of purchasing the refurbished model. Can I really trust that version or just go new? By the way your videos are great. I need that final kick,folks are trying to tell me to with the spark. I would like to hear it from you why Bebop.
@GadgetInspector7 жыл бұрын
Hey Smooth Wind. I understand your dilemma, I am saving up for another drone and that's something I'm considering. Here's how I would reason through it: is the amount I will be saving worth a little less peace of mind? Will I be buying the drone from a retailer I can trust to take returns if something isn't right with it? So, I would say if you do go with a refurb, you should test everything thoroughly before taking it up high and/or out far. I would also buy from somewhere like Amazon which has a great return policy. $400 (plus the $40 for the automation features) for this drone is hard to resist IMHO. As far as whether to get the Spark or not, it really depends on what's most important to you. If the DJI ecosystem, track record, and video quality are most important then you should probably go that way. If flight range, flight time, 3-axis vs. 2-axis camera, product maturity, customer service, lower price tag, etc. is attractive then go Parrot. In the end, I don't think you could go wrong with either. I am into aerial photos and video and the BB2 camera is not as good as I would like, but that is the only thing I could complain about and as you can see from the video you can get some really great shots from it. Again, I am saving for a drone with a professional level camera, but you better believe I will still be flying my BB2. Sorry for the length...I hope this helps.

Hey Scott from all the way across the pond, thanks for stopping by. Not sure if it comes across well in the video, but at the 6:26 mark I try to show how the trees are blowing around like crazy yet you can see how smooth and stable the footage remains. The BB2 does bobble around a little when it is really windy, but it fights wind amazingly well and remains pretty stable. I'm fairly impressed by how it performs.

I just ordered a spare battery for the Bebop 2, being that I have no idea how much longer the original will last. Sorry for all the questions but do you think parrot will ever add a return to home high setting and RTH battery voltage automatically? @GadgetInspector7 жыл бұрын
Yeah the Bebop 2 is really good in my opinion. It definitely won't compete with the Spark on video/picture quality, but it's still very usable. Photographers always say the best camera is the one you have with you, so if you're able to take a BB2 with you that's not so bad at all. I agree 100% with you about the advanced features. They may be the only drone company doing that.
@ThisIsBarcode7 жыл бұрын
Ah so you think the Spark quality is better? I've seen a few folk around saying the quality of the Bebop 2 is better / the same?
@GadgetInspector7 жыл бұрын
I think the BB2 quality is good and the great thing is you can see for yourself from my video. But honestly, in comparison to the Spark the Spark just has more crisp, sharp and detailed video and pictures. However, the Spark was just being released when I bought my BB2 and I'm still glad I got the BB2. The video is so smooth and looks pretty good in the right lighting conditions and the range is great.
@ThisIsBarcode7 жыл бұрын
Well the people I ordered the Spark from said today to put together an order so I've requested the FPV bundle, a FlyPad controller and 3 Li-Po batteries...fingers crossed it'll all be here by Friday. On another note...how many hours/minutes of 1080p footage do you get roughly with the built in Bebop 2 8GB memory?
@GadgetInspector7 жыл бұрын
You'll get about 35-minutes or so with the 8GB. If you're getting the FPV bundle you won't need the FlyPad controller. I highly recommend getting the Skycontroller 2...that's how you'll get the best range and connection between controller and drone.

Before the update, I was able to interrupt the return home process at any time, just by touching any command. Not any more! Now I had a few really closed calls because this thing does not let me take control until is back to home. One time landed on a neighbor's roof, and another almost in the ocean. Don't know if this is an android glitch or Parrot's glitch?! Loved the video by the way
@GadgetInspector6 жыл бұрын
Hmm, I'll have to test that. Strange that they would make that kind of change. Make sure if you lose connection that your controller reconnects to the drone during RTH. There should be a solid green light on the controller.

Awesome video man. I'm curious, How far before video cuts off on your bebop? I feel like something's wrong with my bebop 2. Excellent points and review. I agree with everything you said. I'm a bit surprised you didn't mention the WiFi disconnects frequently, (taking away your video, and scaring the shit out of you.)Yes, it usually comes back after several seconds but there've been a few times I've hit the "return home" button, as I thought I was going to lose it. I'm imagining the WiFi works far better in less populated areas. But these days WiFi is everywhere. Also, my controller suddenly stopped working and I had to send it back after about 3 mos. for warranty replacement. It's a long process. I've been without my drone for nearly a month now. Phone support is polite but their are strong accents to deal with which complicates things more than they need to be. Email support is not timely as advertised and sometimes not replied to.
@GadgetInspector7 жыл бұрын
Hey there. My experience has been a bit different from yours. I don't get the frequent disconnections. It's one of the things I like most about the BB2 is the range. In residential areas I get disconnects but not until I'm out a good distance. It's usually when I'm surrounded by trees and stuff. Otherwise, my experience with range has been impressive. I hope you get everything sorted out.
@MerhlinsPlace7 жыл бұрын
Now I wonder if this was a bug unique to mine and maybe the replacement will not have this issue. My disconnects could happen directly overheard at 375 ft. They were totally unpredictable.

Hey bud! I see on some of your vids you're flying over water. Any problems with that with the Bebop 2? (My friend had a Bebop 1 take a nosedive after going over a lake. Parrot told him that the altitude sensor can get messed up over water... It even says on the new boxes not to fly over water). Cheers!
@GadgetInspector7 жыл бұрын
I don't recommend flying at low altitudes over water. The bottom facing sensor can get confused. I also recommend doing a compass calibration at every new location (or do it everytime like I do) and do a flat trim everytime. As you can see from the videos, I don't have problems flying over water; I'm usually at a couple hundred feet though. Just try not to be overly adventurous with these birds....they are way too expensive. If Parrot is saying not to fly over water, they probably shouldn't do it in their marketing videos then....smh... We all just have to use common sense, but if they say don't do it, don't do it.

@GadgetInspector7 жыл бұрын
Not sure bud...it could be any number of things. In general, range will always be affected by any interference in the area you are flying. Flying in residential or populated areas will always result in less range. I have experienced that as well when I'm at a park near houses or business, especially if there's a lot of trees or obstructions around. When I'm out in the middle of nowhere I get absolutely amazing range.

Those are going for about $599.
