After extended use and experience with both drones I think both are great. I tried to be thorough, so we're comparing camera quality, hover stability, build quality, software, automated features, return to home (RTH) accuracy, range and a few other categories. I had an expectation about the result of this comparison and I was not surprised at all.

Someone just mentioned that I forgot to mention the flight plan / waypoint feature that the Bebop 2 has; the Spark does not have this feature. Should that change the scoring? Hmmm.... Flight Plan is one of the best things about the Bebop 2 and I've done several videos on it, so it is definitely a huge plus of this drone and Parrot's other drones. Great comparison video! I was torn between the two when I bought my drone earlier this year. I went with the spark. Things i liked about bb2 was mostly its flight time and the VR package. With Spark I liked the compact size and the camera being about to tilt down. This is a feature I use all the time. I like to look down to see wildlife as I fly over swamps or forest.

The Spark is a great choice. The BB2 definitely can look down, you just have to adjust it a little to avoid the weird black lines.

Just got my bebop 2 Power, I love it! I did a quick range test and it went out of range at around almost 2 miles, I was pretty scared when it disconnected but about 30 seconds later it was returning home

Yeah range is kind of relative with this bird. Just depends on where you're flying. Just make sure to keep an eye on your battery level.

Very in depth and detailed comparison, great job GI! Although I do not have a spark, and no chance I will get one, I think it would be noteworthy to mention the flight plan capabilities of the bb2, which are phenomenal and not available on the spark. I should mention that I use litchi waypoints for my mavic pro and while it does work pretty well, its not as reliable or accurate as Parrots FP. IMHO, the Flight Plan capabilities of the bb2 coupled with its long flight time would place it ahead of the spark. But, I also say, to each his own! God bless GI!

I’m thinking of getting the Bebop 2 FPV. I own the first bebop and still use it but it’s getting a little ragged after a few crashes. I’ve heard of crazy fly always but never experienced that with mine, hopefully those are not happening as much anymore. I have considered the Spark but can get the Bebop2 FPV for $50 less. I’m not a heavy drone user but do plan to use it more than I do now . The camera on the original bebop has been fine for me so if it’s been improved any that’s a plus and if not I’m ok with it. I have never tried FPV and this is one of the reasons I’m leaning towards the Bebop2 since I’m familiar with the controls and flying that drone. I do plan to put some kind of tracking device on it since hearing about people losing their drones. Thanks for the video, it was useful.

It really depends on what's most important to you. If it's video/photo quality, the Spark is better. If you want long flight time, automated flight plans and sporty fast flying, the BB2 is better.

Awesome comparison. I love my Bebop 2. I like the Spark but personally I like the Bebop 2 more do to flight time and the amount you get for the price. Since I'm building a portfolio for a business I'm making, my next drone is probably going to be the DJI Mavic 2 Pro.

I own the spark and find it fantastic. I do not fly that much on sports mode so don't mind it when the camera does not react. Great comparison on your part. thanks. One key feature the spark does have is the ability to fly without a controller when needed. The gestures are kind of cool to use every now and then

Hey thanks for chiming in Edwin, all good points. I have my Spark in my trunk right now because its probably one of the easiest drones to setup and get in the air fast. The Bebop 2 can also be flown with just your phone as well, but there's nothing like a physical controller. Should have some videos up on the new Parrot Anafi within the month by the way.

GI, this was a great comparison video. Still waiting for my BB2 to arrive, but I definitely stand by my (second) decision. I had to return a Zino, in part because of the instability of the software, and the weak waypoint and autonomous modes. The Spark doesn't have the range I need and the Xiaomi Fimi X8 is still in beta Or alpha. The BB2 FPV gives me a reliable starter package. Flight Plan just brings out the programmer/director/producer instinct in me. It invites tweaking and fiddling. There are lots of amazing scenic views in the Monterey bay area, and i would love to share some, if I can ever get a drone into the air - current score 1 bye-bye, one dumb-head crash where i forgot to turn on the GPS, 1 potentially great unit currently so unreliable I had to return it and one Bebop on the way (while I play bebop 4 nights a week. Must be fate....) I feel I can trust the BB2 (if I get a good one, I bought a refurb - but returnable - FPV kit.)

Yep, and it is a well matured product so pretty much all of the kinks have been worked out a long time ago. I tried to note all of the "cons" I've come across, but you're right, those other drones have better camera quality, but as an overall package the BB2 holds its own. Hey Amigo, great video. I can give you a lot of information about the Bebop2 hover capabilities, I have ran a lot of tests on it. I had to because I had an altitude problem with my first bebop2 and Hot Line support demanded test be done. lol Most important fact that I learn is the accuracy of the sonar sensor on the Bebop2 has an acceptable error margin of +/- 1 to 2 meters (that's 3.28 feet to 6.56 feet). Another words it can vary up to 6.56 feet up or down and still be in specs. That's according to Parrot. The Bebop2 is not really great for holding a hover for more than a few seconds before it starts to gradually descend. I ran a 20 minute hover test on my first Bebop2 ( that I returned for exchange) and after about 10 minutes it descended from 13 feet down to about 6 feet off the ground. At 15 minutes it was only about 18 inches off the ground. So, the bottom line is, don't plan on putting the Bebop2 in a hover to take video and expect it to hold it's position. I like the DJI Spark and would have bought one except for the limited flight time of only 16 minutes. I have 3 Bebop2 drones and they pretty much do the same things as my first one. @@wswurv I already had purchased the Bebop2 so I was stuck with it. Then it developed altitude problems. After a long battle with Parrot they replaced the drone. Now, the reason I bought the other 2 Bebop2 drones is a simple one. If you check the price listing for ALL the parts on the Bebop2 on the Parrot website and add them all up it comes close to or more than $900.00. My local Best Buy had Bebop2 for sale around $299.00 each. I bought the other 2 Bebop2 for parts or replacement drones in case my Bebop2 developed or broke a part on it. As far as the DJI Spark, the only reason I didn't buy one was because of the limited flight time on it. 16 minutes was the deal breaker and at the time I stepped up to the Bebop2 drone I had only been flying drones for a few months and still " wet behind the ears " so to speak as a new drone pilot and didn't know all that much about drones (which one to buy).

Great review as always. I lean towards the Bop based on the flight time, camera quality and greater battery life. . Distance is greater with the original Skycontroller controller. I have flown mine well over 2 miles with it. this was in a rural area with very little Wi-Fi interference. If you pay close attention to your flight time, the low bat RTH is really not a problem. I have the EV-PEAK battery charger which does allow for storage of the batteries. Battery life has been extended with the EV as well. I average 23-26 min flight time per battery, consistently. I don't have the Spark as I opted for the bop for the value.. Thanks and be safe.

the gimbal performs the same in sports mode and regular mode on the spark. when you put it into sports mode it automatically gives you fpv view, you can change that in the settings.

I’m about to return my bebop 2 that I bought yesterday, mine has trouble staying connected to the app, randomly shuts off mid flight and if I use the app without using the controller as soon as I take off the app quits, what a disappointment

That doesn’t sound like the drone to me. What kind of phone do you have? Also, have you tried turning on airplane mode?

@@GadgetInspector I was using the galaxy s8 in airplane mode, and I agree the connectivity problem might be caused by the phone or the app, but the drone shutting off mid flight can't be blamed on the phone. Anyway, not a problem anymore, the bebop has been returned, I'll replace it with a mavic air.

I bought my Spark because of the adjustable camera gimbal for cinematic downward video pan. My Tello was a learning drone for LOS flying. My Bugs 5W was for “fast flying” and the adjustable gimbal made me buy the Spark for stabilized 2-axis gimbal for cinematic photography and travel (compact) drone. The Parrot Anafi offers more video possibilities with the upward tilt-able camera (flying up a tree or tower). Thanks Mate, for the video !!!

An entertaining and informative comparison. I don’t own a Bebop but I do own a Spark and the Parrot Disco. My criticisms of the Spark include the fact that you can’t adjust the rates and expo’s of the controls and it lacks the ability to be put into ATTI mode, my preferred mode, by the user. With regard to the Bebop, using my experience with the Disco, having a camera that is in focus can be a bit of a lottery. The camera’s also have an issue with changes in temperature as the adhesive used to secure the lens assembly is prone to expansion and contraction commonly resulting in slightly out of focus footage in colder climates. The DJIGO4 software doesn’t support preflight/waypoint planning though can be done using third party Apps. However even though Parrot do support these features it is a “Pay-To-Play” option and there’s very little in the way of third party support. All that being said, and even though I own a Spark, I may pickup a Bebop (aircraft only as I already have th controller and goggles) if the price is right to add to my collection. Regards Nidge.

I haven't flown my GPS drones much during the winter; it gets pretty brutal here and I haven't found a good way to keep my hands warm while also being able to use the touchscreen. My darn iPhone also dies very quickly at any temp below 32 Fahrenheit. I'll probably be a little more adventurous this year since I have more than one bird now. The camera on the BB2 definitely leaves something to be desired, but I think you'll find that it has a unique charm. It's just fun to fly around.

You don’t get fail safe but you do get 10 more minutes of flying time that you don’t get from the spark, should be enough time to get the drone back home also with the bebop it helps to wear something bright in color on follow me mode so it doesn’t lowest you

An excellent review again GI!! And waypoints? Well the Litchi app solves that completely. Don’t forget that the spark has almost all features of his bigger brothers, only DJI did not activate them. The Bebob (funny name) 2 is an excellent drone too. The films of both are ok, the pics are way better with the spark. Question: does the Bebob 2 has all those features of the spark like recording all flights, a find my drone function. Thats why I like the spark so much, it has all those things too. Could you tell me DI, does the Bebob has those functions too ? I would really hope that much and much more viewers should see these vids. You are really excellent.

Yep, the FreeFlight Pro app records every flight and it also has a find my drone function. Both apps are pretty comparable. Thanks for the encouragement Carel, KZbin's algorithm works against me a lot of times so it's hard to get exposure for my videos, but I'll keep doing what I love nonetheless.

Gadget Inspector yes I think that the algorithms don’t favor you. But maybe the reason is that there is that Inspector Gadget cartoon. Typing in your blogname it redirects my question to the cartoon. The best way is to follow you and select your blogs. It is excellent that you keep on going. Your presentations are very good, much information, pleasant style. Please keep up the good spirit. I have both the BB2 and Spark. If I want the best video & pics it's the Spark hands down. However, the Bebop2 flight plan can't be beat! It can go where no other drone can go and I will sacarifice the video quality for the distance and dependability of Flight Plan. At the end of the day you can always sharpen the video of the Bebop2 in your video editor ...usually. Finally, like Gadget mentioned before "When it sunny outside I will reach for the Bebop2". It simply performs better in bright sunlight.

I tried to get a Bebop 2 from Best Buy but they were out and are not going to order anymore. There are rumors that Parrot is pulling out of the consumer drone game. Ended up buying the Spark, not disappointed at all. I appreciate your lack of bias.

love'm both, only problem with the bebop 2 is the way the propellers are attached, had mine out as far as it would go and upon returning to home it was on its decent and at about 30 feet up, one of the props flew off! Argh! only had it a couple weeks, I was able to get a new frame and nose piece and put it back together but talk about gun shy! I was out over a couple reservoirs and thought what could've happened would have been the end. I did find some prop locks on ebay and amazon and so far so good but it throws things out of balance just the tiniest bit,. love your videos Inspector and God Bless!!!

Whoa, glad you got those locks. I would be a nervous wreck. Just make sure you turn that lock until the pegs are all the way flush and those props should not budge.

The problem with disconnecting can be fixed if you purchase the bebop 2's sky controller... Up 2 to miles before it looses connection.

I have a Bebop 1 and I love it especially the flight plan I do not know if this function is available in the DJI spark app but, it's great and fun.

Nope, the Spark doesn't have waypoints/flight plan in its stock configuration. Definitely a plus for Parrot drones.

Spark if you have iOS bebop 2 If you have Android,the spark doesn't get along with Android very well while the bebop 2 is practically android based

Even if they were the same price I would buy the BeBop 2 because of the flight time per battery. The BeBop 2 can also run on the Power battery for even longer flight times. Also the Freeflight Pro app for the Bebop 2 is really nice. I especially like the Waypoint feature which has POI and when you change speeds or adjust a route there is a button you can press and it will tell you how long the flight will take although it does not take into consideration the wind effect.

Howdy y’all! You’re mentioning ‘Airplane Mode”; I’m assuming that means to place your phone in Airplane Mode, and use an OTG cable. This is my second Sparky, and with the first one, I only used the WiFi connection. What OTG cable have you used for the Aye Phone? Thanks for any help, and great video! This was very informative.

I actually have never used an OTG cable with my Spark. It seems that it was something that improved reception for some folks, but DJI has said that it does not improve it at all. I put my phone in airplane mode in order to turn off bluetooth and even my phone data to eliminate signal interference and it works great that way.

I have both drones and I agree with you, I would dare to say that the difference is in the cam of the spark, has better resolution and anti-collision sensors, the spark is easier to transport due to the size of the aircraft and the control, although in My opinion is that the bebop control is more sensitive to the touch, but I conclude, just like you, are very similar drones, a greeting from the Dominican Republic.

GI thanks for another good video. Like others have written not to mention the flight plan is a minus on your evaluation, I have a bb2 and flight plan is the feature I use the most. For me is the biggest point in favor of the bb2 and I prefer the camera on bb2 than on the spark. All other points I agree with your evaluation.

Great video again....yes Parrot's flight plan is so much better then DJI's go app unless you use litchi. Another thing I would of mention is BB2 charger is the worst thing for your battery, as a new owner of the BB2 I had to buy a 3rd party balanced charger to protect the batteries cells, which can lead to droping out of the sky when your battery fails. Again awesome video bro....wait to you get the Anafi it fixes all the BB2 faults. :)

nice testing. I like to say that 3 axis gimbal would be better than 2. But also, It seems like that top speed seems to make the image blurred. (Up to the control man for speed). I own a stupid but awesome 2 axis whatever thing for camera phones. I bought it from a friend of a friend just to help em out. I could of have got 3 axis for cheaper. But just to help a bro out. And so the 2 axis does quite good sometimes and for certain phones. It definitely helps but some times is just not great. You have to find out if it works better to hold the gimstick under the phone or to the side. so who knows which way they optimized the 2axis drone. bebop has wider lense angle which I really like a lot of times. so that might also cause a blur effect for distance scenes.

Dont forget that Culligan is delivering your water on Friday :-) Haha, kidding aside, nice review man! i've been interested more in the freestyle/racing drone builds, but would be willing to drop 300 to 500 on a more "commercial type" drone, mainly for ease of use and all the failsafes they provide...I've always been impressed by the Spark, but that Bebop(for its lower price) is making me think a little different, except that the Bebops camera looks kind of washed out/blurry, tho..Cheers!

Darn notifications lol. The camera quality is one of the main things that I wish was better on the BB2. If it was as good as the Spark I think it would have been more popular; Parrot saved the good camera for the Anafi. With that said, in the right lighting conditions you can get some really good looking footage, but you're right. If your number one objective is the best footage from a budget drone then the Spark is definitely the way to go. For the best all around drone, it's the BB2.

Thanks for the video, did you do all you could to get equal qualities of video footage, as both sensors are very similar the diff in quality was massive to me, so was the bb really that bad or did you just OOTB it and not tweak the settings on each to get the best you could. For me I like the flight times, the speed of the BB, but the SD card, video quality and Failsafes rule it out, real shame.

I've done about 8 videos or so on the Bebop 2, so I would suggest taking a look at those if you're interested in the drone. Seeing is believing, so what you see is what you get. If you watch my vids you'll see that in certain conditions the video quality is actually quite good, but in others, pretty dull, blurry and soft. I have well documented this and the other faults the drone has. Nevertheless, show me another drone for the price that gives you the same features and experience.

I have both. The Spark hovers in the same spot better than my BB2. It returns to home within inches of its take off point, whilst my BB2 lands within maybe, 4 -5 feet of the take off point. Considering battery life, Flight plan, and the phone app's. ., I prefer the BB2.
