did you know that the canvas talisman(poise w.e.| A scaling) has the same spell buff as yorshkas chime (S scaling) at 190 with 45 faith; the minimum to cast lightning storm. At faith lvl 46+ S scaling becomes better, at 44- A scaling is better. IDK WHY. anyways Canvas is the best for pvp because it has decent spell buff with poise, at 45 faith you can do good sell damage and still have points to spend on the rest of your build

Actually it's a Lore theory that the lightning isn't something Gael summons intentionally but's just attracted to the Dark Soul fragments he vomits onto the ground. A very direct visual metaphor for how Lightning boi Gwyn keeps trying to get rid of the Dark although it would have helped if the lightning bolts were yellow like the miracles instead of blue.

I can confirm that those random lightning bolts can hit you (and kill you). I guess I am just astronomically unlucky and/or have spent too much time in the boss room. I got killed by one during my SL1 NG+7 broken straight sword only run around 40 minutes into the fight (still in phase 2). I had to use the xbox recording function to figure out what the hell happened. I honestly thought I just had a stroke as Gael was nowhere near me when I died.

He probably has his own covenant at this point and he just summons himself. Either that or he has infinite white soapstones and black separation crystals.
