For secret Santa it was a £5 minimum and £10 maximum so I spent £9. I bought my secret santa(everyone knows who’s got who so it’s not really secret) two pairs of really nice luxury socks, a water bottle and some pens and pencils. for my 18th bday my parents got me an inflatable llama as a joke (before giving me a phone, my real gift). well jokes on them cause I was incredibly happy that I got that llama, cause I love huge pool toys but I felt like it was too expensive. To be fair, a gag gift can be a very well thought gift. For example, we bought a coloring book for a friend of mine (she loves them) and it was one of those books that are full of cuss words and such, to reference the fact that she is sometimes very cinical and sarcastic. However we also got her a couple of CD's she really wanted to listen to, so I guess you have to play it well, and find a thing that people will appreciate and will make fun of also themselves

Every year for Christmas, I craft elaborate gag gifts for a handful of my family members, based on in-jokes and stuff I know they'll find funny. However, the gag gifts are packaging for their real gifts, usually gift cards or money. My way of saying, "I know you well enough to know your sense of humor, and I'm putting in the effort here, but I'm not going to gamble on what I think you'll like or what your tastes are." Best of both worlds. Everyone shares a laugh, and they get to buy the exactly right thing.

I once saw these prank gift boxes at the store one Christmas. They have these weird made-up products on them that nobody would want. The idea is that you put the ACTUAL gift in the box, wrap it, and gift it. It has the same charm as a gag gift is supposed to have, but they actually get a good gift in the end. The ones I bought were "Earwax candle making set," and "10,000 piece puzzel." They actually look pretty convincing, too. So that's a nicer alternative to gag gifts.

Gag gifts are fine as long as there is an underlying joke, and extra real gifts. For instance, my family gets my dad chicken-related cookbooks all the time, because while he's a decent cook, for some reason he's incapable of cooking chicken without it turning out so dry it's almost crunchy. My brother, on the other hand, won a pack of rubber ducks in a raffle years ago, and they became a running joke to place around the house. Eventually, this shifted into getting him progressively more rubber ducks over time, culminating with my most recent gift of 50 rubber ducks, individually wrapped in rubber duck wrapping paper, placed in a box like packing peanuts to conceal one giant rubber duck, also wrapped in rubber duck wrapping paper, with a rubber duck card and a Santa rubber duck stuck to the top like a bow. Oh, and the box had duck feet on the bottom.

That's not what it means. She said to eat the cake and Ally said "open my gift first" as in, before they eat the cake. Not before the other gifts. There's no mistake.
