You'd be surprised. They actually make a lot of college-specific videos. Just look up "Collegehumor college" and you'll find a bunch (recent ones too). But I'm pretty sure CollegeHumor mainly refers to their channel revolving around college-level humor anyway, since that's probably their main demographic. Think they even mention something along those lines in the "Grant and Katie are starting their own company" video. I understand that you might have just been joking around, though.

It’s not, it’s a comedy writer thing. Most people need their college majors. You don’t usually go to college if you want to do something you don’t need college to do
@vincestewart32
@vincestewart32 4 жыл бұрын
It depends on the feild, some like medicine and law require certification, but most basically just require that you either know what you're doing, or are a quick learner, that's about it. College can be a good way to prove that you know what you're doing or are a good learner, but often times the exact major you were doesn't really matter, it's mostly about proving to future employers that you have the fortitude to stick with something for an extended period of time.
@taylorhillard4868

a degree hardly even does that. I know many people who have gone through a full college education who know less than amateurs. you never really know how inept someone is until you give them a chance to dissapoint you.
@MrGameadd1ct
@MrGameadd1ct 4 жыл бұрын
@@taylorhillard4868 Thats really depends on the subject. In programming for example you have a lot of amazing talented amateurs, but a lot of it really surface level. This is great if you are doing making small websites, and less so if you have a complex app that requires abstract data structures. If you wanted to start programming you could totally learn what you need to know online. If you want to rake in a massive salary, or make science based apps, you should pick up a math or cs degree.

@@phillip2169 yes but there are approximately 3000 professional historians in the USA, compared to 171, 000 physicists and 1.6 million engineers. In comparison there are ~170, 000 history majors each year in the US, ~100,000 engineers and ~9, 000 physicists. At least now I know that the mitochondria is the powerhouse of the cell
@anonymouscommentor411
@anonymouscommentor411 5 жыл бұрын
@Crystal Kanashii I've heard the expression too. I think it has to do with the fact that the mitochondria is where mostly all the ATP is produced from glucose (or some other sugar depending on the cell) in cellular respiration. This is because the Krebs cycle and more importantly the electron transport chain takes place in this organelle, and so a lot of ATP is produced by the mitochondria and are used in energonic reactions to support cellular functions. Thus, I think "power house" of the cell is somewhat accurate as it is the main organelle that provides ATP to be used in energonic reactions in a cell. This is the short answer I know from my grade 12 biology class I took last semester.

@@wooof. wut. 0_0 Everyone in my place learned it since they were kids. As Google-sensei put it: "a set of tests you take to be allowed to work in a particular area". It's like for example accountancy, to become a CPA, you need to pass the board exam. I mean you can work without it but even after working hard, without that CPA in your name you will have hard time promoting to the point that a kid who just got in the entity might have higher chance of getting promoted than you just because he has CPA on their name. Quite surprise to hear someone who doesn't know board exam as almost all on demand jobs like medicine fields and engineering has one. Abd in my place a dream of most.
