This is my favorite ship that I hate flying. That trait is just top tier for sci torp. It is super good for tour the galaxy to fly because it gets a super long slip stream drive almost fully recharged when it runs off. I set up all my tour 65 alts with gargarin with legendary voyagers trait and even a fresh capped alt can finish a full run of tour.

The only ship that you can basically with a fully upgraded warp core slip stream from one side of the quadrant to the other before dropping to normal warp is the Mirror Lexington dreadnought I've found

Absolutely love this ship. Currently running scatter volley + torp + mines in the back build I personally like how fast 💨 this ship is. I’m completing my exploration accolades thanks this ship

I think ETM might be the single best "budget" trait buy just because it's so versatile. That is to say, while it might not be optimum, you can find a place for it on almost any build type except for a DBB BO build because the FAW procs cancel the BOs. But any other build type will get some amount of benefit from having it on -- which should be the primary concern at the budget level. So for those who prefer a more varied play-style, a case could be made that this should be the first buy before the Arbiter.

You should also add one hidden feature of Shepard class, if you flip it upside down during starship customization you'll recieve discarded prototype of USS Shenzhou (shame there is no options to save it in this position) ;)

how would you compare the fleet shepard to the fleet avenger? I guess that's more of a question between Miracle Worker and Intel cruisers. They're awfully similar otherwise.

The Fleet Avenger/C-store arbiter is an excellent ship, with a slightly better trait for DEW, but the Gagarin Trait ends up on almost any build so it’s a little more flexible. The DPS output of the two feels comparable to me, but the Gagarin is a far more survivable ship. And the extra console can’t be beat. And then there’s the Inquiry. Which is the near perfect love child of the Gagarin and Arbiter, if you like this sort of ship. Being a Full spec MW Battlecruiser with an Intel seat.

I don't own the Hestia. It looks like a solid minelayer/torp boat though. The trait and console aren't things I see other people using at the high end, but without using them myself I don't want to judge.

@@gausssto570 The console is junk, but the trait is a nice damage add for your whole team when beating on one big enemy. Engi/command seat with the universal ensign seat leaves it very vulnerable to the threat it generates for itself though.

Question: why not get the Klingon version instead? You get a Battle Cloak, and the same ship trait. Or is that ship too ugly for you?

@@gausssto570 Yeah so...I love the Gagarin. I like the looks of my Vengeance WAY better so I end up flying the Vengeance more than I probably should. The Gagarin is just so tiny and hard to see that I really can't get excited about flying it. The crit severity buff is the ONLY reason I bother flying this thing. It does honestly outperform my Vengeance (which in itself is very stupid because a larger ship has room for many more features and, in reality, would smoke a ship this tiny) but I simply can't fall in love with it.

One reason you say you'd recommend the Gagarin as "the starter ship" for new players is for its trait. But that's not really true. In this case their starter ship, in other words their ONLY c-store ship, is a Gagarin. What exactly are they going to be using ETM for? Tanking? A new player isn't qualified to be a team tank. And the Gagarin doesn't have the Attract Fire command anyway. A kinetic build? The Gagarin isn't appropriate for kinetic builds. It's made for energy weapons. Sci-torp builds? The Gagarin isn't a science ship. It appears ETM isn't a good match to the ship. I'll point out that advanced players, all using ETM, are not flying Gagarins. It's hard for advanced players to put themselves in a new player's place. But it's necessary for recommending a first ship. A new player will be using mostly beams, probably one torpedo forward, maybe one aft. Most of the damage potential is in broadsiding. With ETM, FAW will get them a Torp Spread I. But they have to turn to use it, and the Gagarin only has a 7.5 base turn rate. Not a problem for an advanced player, but it is for someone new. Turning will take either the fore or aft beams off the target. And the spread will mostly hit targets with shields up, so the damage will be wasted. Using Torpedo Spread to get FAW I is better. But the limits to FAW I will keep it from doing a lot of damage. Yet it may get the player extra aggro. Emergency Weapon Cycle is a much better trait for someone new. Just tell that player to have two copies of Emergency Power to Weapons, and to spam that ability till the fight is over. It's simple.

I don't agree. The Arbiter is fundamentally not a good ship. The bridge officer layout is terrible. The Gagarin is one the best ships in the c-store. I would rather fly the Gagarin without either trait than have the Arbiter and EWC. So, no, I'm not recommending the Gagarin just because of the trait. The ship itself is also miles better.
