working on completing my solar system that I purchased 10 years ago minus the inverter. a 3kw solar panels, midnite charge controller, midnite panel box and 24v battery bank (golf cart batteries). I just purchased the conext 4024sw with the system controller for $1800. what do you think of this combination?

I’m kinda new to all this stuff. I still don’t know how this unit works. A friend just offered one of these to me but I have no idea what to do with it. I need to power my 30 amp camper trailer with solar. Will this work for that application??
@GainSolarPower2 жыл бұрын
Not without a bunch of other parts. This unit takes power off a battery and makes 120volt AC household current. It will also take power from a 120 volt ac source and charge the battery.
@SaabAholic2 жыл бұрын
@@GainSolarPower Thanks for the quick reply. So, this may be an overkill for my needs, then? I’ve been thinking about the Ecoflow Delta Pro with the 30 amp plug. Simple for me and I can charge it by plugging it in or with solar panels. What would recommend?
@GainSolarPower2 жыл бұрын
@@SaabAholic what are you trying to power? What devices are in the trailer and how long do you need to run them. That’s a good inverter but you’d still need a battery, breakers/fuses and a charge controller for the solar panels.

@@GainSolarPower I need a 30 amp power source for my 35 foot trailer. So, basically, I’ll want to run the refrigerator/freezer, microwave, heater/AC, lights and water pump. The trailer has 2 batteries that stay charged with shore power. But without the full 30 amp hook up, all I can run is the lights, really.

Does the Magnum 4448 interface with and communicate over a RS485 connection with a bank of EG4LL 5.2kWH batteries for the Battery Management System … or … do they talk a different language? Seems like certain Inverter and Battery manufacturers have teamed up with each other. I really would like to use the EG4LL LiFePo4 batteries … and also the Magnum (have to check out Midnight and Outback for their comparable inverters)

Great video. I am looking for an inverter and would this Magnum be good for Leaf battery modules 48v? Probably be using about 42+ modules total in a 12s or 14s configuration. Two cells per module. Thanks for your reply, Richard...

Richard, I'm not sure about the leaf battery modules and what voltage or charger setings you would want to use. How are the other folks doing this charging the batteries? You are welcome to email me at jwv8783@gmail.com

Yes but u will need to buy the advance remote control to program it to charge and recognise the leaf battery
@paulbaker31445 жыл бұрын
greatogbuagu yes, I was told today the Magnum control panel has lithium ion charging parameters. The panel tells the charger what to do. Leaf modules make a good 48 volt pack so this should be a good combination. It is the combo I’m putting together for my school bus conversion.

i am always fascinated how much more complicated you are doing electrical and solar installations in america. there are all those separate boxes for disconnects on the wall. i have one box with the fuses and a mains disconnect and an inverter disconnect at the side of the house. (s small box with mains and inverter disconnects in the shed next to the inverter also) as far as technology goes for an island inverter interacting with a grid inverter, have a look at selectronics. it can interact with a fronius or ABB grid feed inverter ramping production up or down. (the grid inverter needs to have the specific software loaded though) a similar solar installation is about half the price here in australia or germany than in the unitied states. because of all the complexities of installation and permits. you are still using polarised breaker for pv strings. her we use non polarised breakers. for obvious reasons: if a string shortens out, all the electricity from the other strings run backwards through the breaker of the faulty string. it then triggers the breaker the current running the wrong way. which probably results in the breaker starting to burn. anyway, always like watching your videos. thanks
@GainSolarPower6 жыл бұрын
Urs Odermatt we would love to see some of the systems in Germany. Here in the us solar is basically suppressed technology from all fronts.
@ursodermatt88096 жыл бұрын
the german government is not too keen on solar either. vested interests. but the electricity price is very high in germany. high retail prices here in australia too. so, i just feed in. no drawing from mains power at all. if you have time, look at the german E3DC ( www.e3dc.com/en/ ) they just carry the box into the basement, hook up mains, wire up the electricity meter, hook up pv and insert the batteries. and it is done.plus 10 years warranty on the whole thing, inverter and batteries and all.

Victron is high frequency, it’s like a high tuned race engine of inverter/chargers. Magnum is low frequency, big beefy iron core with higher surge capacity, it’s the workhorse diesel of inverter/chargers.
@jimthvac1006 жыл бұрын
The bad thing about Magnum inverters is they don't sell a Pure sign wave 48 V version that works above 800 watts. Your stuck with having to use a 24 Volt battery bank. 48 Volts is the way to go especially with my solar panels and MUCH lower DC current draw. Until Magnum releases more 48 volt pure sign wave inverters I will look elsewhere.
