Say Amen ..came out and the Barrett SIsters came unto their own...such greats as Wille Mae Ford Smith (Mother Smith) spoke of how they had grown under her wings. Authentic Gospel Music- very moving. I grew up with this music. These women are simply remarkable!- adore the harmonies. I couldn't done without the harmonic which has little if any place in traditional black gospel music. This style of singing doesn't belong around the Campfire- those riffs turn it Country and adds another voice that does not belong in this straight-forward and soulful singing.. But I'm glad it's shared by all, regardless of race!
