So nice to hear gear demo with clean tones. FWIW the tube is 6V6 NOT 6L6 12:26. Would've been helpful to hear the Champ cranked to hear the contrast with a grittier tone.

That Pro Reverb sounds fantastic. Is it actually useable at home or is it too loud for that?

Great great sounds in this demo! I noticed on the vibro champ portion of the demo you had the volume cranked up pretty high (8ish) and it stayed clean! Would you say it has pretty good clean headroom for an amp of it's size? I expected it to be breaking up above 5.

Hi guys. Nice review. On the Vibro champ reverb, does it have the darker more mid focused tone like the 68 princeton or is it brighter more like the 65? I find the 68 princeton sort of dark and muddy. Thx!

I use a Fender 68 Custom Princeton Reverb I don't have any hiss issue but I did find it a bit dark and heavy bass wise I then found the R34 resistor mod once I did this the amp was much better. You don't loose and bass but with the mod you can turn the bass down. Hope this heelps.

How is the idle hiss on the 68 Custom Pro Reverb? Is it as loud as on the 68 Custom Deluxe Reverb? Or is it more quiet, like on a Hot Rod Deluxe?

Noise floor is too high on the 68 fender reverb deluxe amp´´s - or have Fender fixed that problem now in 2021 ??
@jonharley7715

I read somewhere that the issue was caused by Fener having to replace a part that has cadmium in it with another which does not, as the cadmium part is allowed in USA but not in Europe.

I’ve only had mine for a few days but I can’t really complain. There’s some hiss at high volume settings but it’s very manageable. Not like some of the “horror stories” I’ve heard about the ‘68 Deluxe Reverb reissue.

@@buzzardsinuses4780 I don’t really know... I’ve only heard about the noise issue AFTER I purchased this amp. It’s really not there with this particular model. You have to crank it to 9 and put your ear right up to the amp to hear the hiss I mentioned. It’s almost not worth mentioning at all. I’m not sure if they addressed or what but mine is plenty quiet.
@alafenetre81
@alafenetre81 3 жыл бұрын
@@buzzardsinuses4780 The noise issue happens as soon as the reverb is above 3. At 10 it's a nightmare. The trem ticks far too much too. I tested the Princeton Custom 68 and the Deluxe Custom 68 and returned both because I cannot use them in the studio or on stage.

Pretty sure the Vibro Champ has digital reverb and tremolo. A Princeton Reverb is going to have a real spring tank. Not sure what the other differences are.

The new Vibro Champ has digital reverb; a Princeton has real spring reverb. VC is 5w with one 6V6 power tube; Princeton is two 6V6s around 12w. Both have tube tremolo and a 10" speaker and have footswitchable effects.

@@richdukes9632 I was wondering how clean the amp is, does it do a good job at it? Because I play clean 99% of the time, think the wind cries Mary by Hendrix, my other question is when does the amp start to breakup, I have heard it’s called a baby twin so I’m guessing it has a good amount of headroom and in terms of a vibrolux, is the vibrolux brighter to you?, what are the best speakers to put in it for classic fender tone? And the last question I have is what is your favorite part about the amp? Again thank you so much for letting me pick your brain :)

Great demo Thom! If you had to choose (5 watt amp) between this new 68 VC (mex) or the 57 Custom Champ (US) for recording, practice, small gigs, future ease of repairability, and most importantly pure great tone which would you choose? I'm having a hard time deciding between these two (regardless of the price). It would be used with pedals so the reverb and vibrato are not so much a big factor.

Very interested in this amp. I like the ability to adjust mids. However, I do not like the Celestion G12 NEO, and won't buy this amp because of it. I have owned a 2X12 cabinet with those in it. The NEO doesn't compare to the G12-65, or G12-75 Creambacks.

Sorry to rain on anybody's parade, but if the amp is made in Mexico...pass. I grew up on Fender and still have a reverence for the name, however, the amps that come out of Mexico are truly garbage. Save your self the aggravation, or at least buy the full extended warranty, you will need it.
