Before 2016 if you wanted to play a more complex space 4X, the GalCiv series was your best option. Now they're trying to be Stellaris so hard. Kinda sad to see.

Tried to like GalCiv IV. But nah. Too much 'dumb sh_t' in it to tolerate for long. Or at least to tolerate if you're after something more cerebral and logical in the way the mechanics play out. As a fairly low-mid ranged 4X it's okay tho, I suppose. Worth it on discount.

Yeah, but the last 4x that was interesting and not aimed at booger eaters was probably modded Civ 4. I also have not played any space game that was interesting since Imperium Galactica 1 and 2. Stellaris is just plain garbage snoozefest with an AI a 10 year old would not have fun with.
