Wow, THANK YOU!! Like all the other comments, i had the same issue with a black screen after dropping my S22 Ultra a foot to the ground. The phone was still vibrating w/ notification sounds but no screen response. The thing that worked for me was the 'smack & massage' method!! Figured whatever possibly disconnected when i dropped it got reconnected once i tried your methods since i heard a little 'click'. Didn't think it was much until i held the power button and lonnggg behold, the phone screen restarted the display! Saved me $375 for a screen fix! I'm sure this method will work on other phone types too.. nothing to lose. Appreciate you sharing!!!

HOLY POOP!! i was on vacation, dropped phone on ground, black screen. i THOUGHT my screen(cracked) had gone completely out. i was in the middle of setting up an old phone when i came up on this video. It worked!! a few days ago, i dropped my phone and i could only use the s pen to use the screen. My fingers wouldn't work at all. So that was annoying, then earlier at work, my screen went black all of a sudden and i couldn't use the s pen at all either. I force restart the phone MANY times until i started doing the massage trick that you did in your phone, and i even smacked the phone a few times front and back and my phone screen came back on, and I can use my fingers again on the screen. Like many others here. I just bought my phone yesterday and within 8 hours, I got the black screen of death. I was dismayed that when I woke up this morning, and it was still there. But thank God for KZbin and people like you. The first method worked for me. Although, I am happy this method worked, I am disappointed about getting problems like this so early on. I am new to Samsung, although an Android user, and have never come across this problem. Samsung really needs to do a better job of fixing what it obviously a common issue.

I was skeptical after one hour of trying, but after the 7th time, it worked! I had a black screen after I left my phone in the car for more than 2 hours directly under the sunlight. Came back to a black screen on my phone that did not go away even after charging and restarting. I think the freezer part helped my phone. Best of luck to all.

Thanks for this video as it shows many different techniques that can work for fixing a Black screen. I've had my S22 Ultra since the end of Feb and have never had any issues with it. I believe I got some water in the area of the power button after I cleaned the phone with Windex. One minute the phone was working fine and then I started seeing the screen flicker with the horizontal gray lines. Then it just turned black with the occasional yellow bar at the top of the screen and occasionally some large yellow splotches near thr bottom of the screen. Restarting was impossible since the power button was not functioning. The next thing I tried was to remove the screen protector since I did notice it was wet right near the power button and didn't want to chance and moisture being trapped in that area. Tapping and massaging the screen did nothing. So I put the phone in the freezer for 30 minutes and the screen did function normally for 1 or 2 seconds. I then placed the phone back in the freezer for 30 additional minutes and then placed the phone in a box of white rice and didn't touch it all night for roughly 10 hours. Luckily the phone was working perfectly when I woke up. It's been fine so far. So add the phone in rice technique since one little drop of water in the phone can wreck havoc on the digitizer, screen and power button functionality. So much for the S22 Ultra being water resistant.

Great job. Phone was off for 3 days. Came across this video. After tapping and massaging and hitting the 911 button ( they called me, by the way) it came on after about 3 times. I was able to avoid the freezer step. I had a replacement phone sent. I may keep the replacement instead of keeping this one, just in case. Thanks for the help because I was hoping not to lose things saved to the phone. 🎉

Hey Man, Thanks for an Awesome Video. I dropped my s22 and when I picked it up the screen was black. Plugged it into my tablet and it was on, and could tell it was on as it wanted to transfer my photos. Still with black screen, tried the reset, as you instructed, and it worked. Saw Samsung Logo and knew I was good to go. Had to do it 3 times. Thank You so much, for a great video that helped.

When I did the next force restart, I got the logo! Praise God! I prayed this morning to send me a solution and found this video before going somewhere to see how much it would be to replace the screen or get it fixed. I (like others I read here) had ordered a new phone (T-Mobile store didn't order screen and said wouldn't be able to back up if they couldn't get screen on and I have tons of stuff for my business and personal that wasn't backed up) so was desperately looking for a solution to be able to back up info (plugging in USB didn't work even though I'd done that in the past to get files from the phone; tried Smart Switch and that didn't work either). I was so hesitant but after trying every step with no avail...I placed it in the freezer, attempting the reset did not work immediately out of the freezer but once the phone cooled back to room temperature, I plugged it in and the phone displayed the charging icon. YES! I held the power button and the volume button down at the same time and it came on. Thanks!

Black screen means something is screwed with the OS. I had the 'black screen', but i still had the side bar available and i could swipe and see the apps. When connected to my car, it started playing music from the app, so the phone *was* functioning. I just couldnt see. This generation of phone is total garbage.

She shook her head, and again said it's dead. I found yer video, and nothing was working until I tapped it all over, and it's now its working !!!!!! Oh you absolute legend! Was outside and I dropped it on the back, screen froze for a good while before just turning off. I done the tap method and the massage method, after that, everything works just fine! Note: When I was massaging the phone, I heard a click in the back towards the top left/middle area, felt like pushing in a display connector. Thanks once again!

Dont spam the power button it initiated an alarm to 911 and had a call come in from 911 , i had to tell the opporator my phone screen is black and was trying to find a way to get it to work and the video said to spam the power button, she then informed me that , that initiates a 911 emergency call. 🫣 im embarrassed, and my phone is still black and is in the freezer. Your methods were superb for fixes. But what's the larger issue here, does anyone know? I had the phone for like 2 days and I got this "black screen of death". Seems like a common time frame (early on). Had galaxy since the EPIC. Never had any problems like this, aside from the crappy charging ports failing in the 7 or 8 models. Are we just looking at trash manufacturing possibly? This is bad.

I worked in wireless for 13 years. I would never, ever, recommend doing anything in this video past the 3:30 mark. For 1, if you have a brand new device that arrived DOA, contact your point of purchase and start an exchange. All major carriers keep track of common issues. Secondly, if the device is brand new do not bang it, press it or massage it. Once you crack or chip the new device, regardless if it wasn't working prior to physically breaking it, the return/exchange option is automatically gone. If your phone isn't brand new and you cannot afford to fix it or don't have insurance on it, then sure try out the rest of the methods. Chances are the screen is faulty (I have a faulty s22 ultra, hence on how I found this video). And if it is faulty, do you really believe slamming/slapping/pressing will permanently fix the device? And if it does, do you want a warranty replacement/refurb 6/12 months down the line or just exchange it for a new device at the point of sale? I'm sorry, I have to hit the dislike button. Video started strong, but ya...
