S23U owner here. In daylight, I take 50 MP (far less processed) photos and 4K60 video. In low light, it's down to 12 MP (where Samsung's strong processing actually helps) and night mode, and 4K30 video. Cropping is OK, at least in good light, BUT ... A quad Bayer array will never demosaic as well as a regular one. When photographing fine text, it creates artifacts I think I haven't seen before. I do have a feeling, though, that the main sensor's extra resolution helps a bit in creating better 50 MP photos. My rough plans for the future (2026, maybe) are likely an S26 Ultra and a Steam Deck 2. Then hopefully nothing else for a long time. My current PC may very well be my last desktop ever.

take your time, your comparisons are the best out there PS : don't hesitate to add more "low light shots" during the night / in low light scenarios without night mod, only point and shoot, that's a thing a lot of youtubers do not do, and that a lot of people actually do when taking low light shots (the night mods aren't natural usually...) THANKS for your videos, I've been coming everyday on the channel to see if there was a new video lol (and yes I am already subscribed but I don't trust youtube's notifications) EDIT : I do know you put low light photos with no night mods / and even put the same photos with night mod and no night mods in your videos, but I just wanted to give my opinion, which would hopefully make you think about it even more xD

It is very optimistic of you to suggest that a forthcoming software update will rectify ALL the camera issues on the S24 Ultra. I was promised a rapid software update to cure excessive low light video noise on my S21 Ultra when I bought it new. All over KZbin and Samsung Members app were promises from various sources that this was going to be addressed in the first major software update.Three years later, I am still waiting for such an update.

The S24 Ultra is the better device, but you will pay for it's extra power and overall abilities. The Pixel 8 Pro should be notably cheaper, and it's camera system is slightly better overall than that on the 24 Ultra.

As a s23 ultra owner, I really don't know if the camera is an upgrade. The 10x doesn't look better, and the rest might just be down to processing which they could give the s23 as well.

Software upgrades for the s23 for cameras are over. S24 will see improves over the year. I would expect it to get significantly better with time.

S24 Ultra can do some processing for 10x because larger sensor, larger 50MP, and larger light opening on F3.4, also Sensor Crop Zoom tech. U can't do that with smaller sensor on S23 and smaller F4.9. That why, it will be whole different controller for the sensor.

I have both phones and see definitely improvements. Overall picture is just more pleasing. Better colors, whitebalance and contrast. Foliage is much better with less oversharpening and skintones a bit warmer.

Looking forward to the full camera comparisons, most of the times yours are the best :) For me as an S23 user the S24 offers to little to rectify the update. Still I have to say the higher screen brightness and especially the antireflective glass is an unexpected but very well appreciated update. The very small camera improvements are also appreciated. But I definitely expected more in the camera department. Cause the Iphone 15 pro max really took a big jump, especially with the 24MP default mode in daylight. I feel like the S23U surpassed the Ihpone 14pro in picturs and came as close as never before in video department. But then the 15pro max surpassed the S23U in both and unfortunately the S24U doesn't come back as good as the S23U did to the 14pro

I noticed that in my S22 Ultra gallery, you can open a picture, click on an object, then click the "Eye Icon" in the top right & it does the "Circle to Search" option basically. However, I love the flat display & you can pair the 24 Ultra cameras to any Samsung Tablet for a webcam type experience.. Samsung phones can do so much! 🤟

But what I would find very useful is the ability to live translate a video I am watching since I often find videos online that are of Spanish or Korean or Japanese that doesn't have english captions in it, a live caption of the translation for this case would really be much more helpful for me.

Low light zoom is one of the things I'm most looking forward to experiencing with the S24U because it's not great with my S22U. And while I don't use it that often it would be nice to have 10X zoom that didn't fall apart as soon as the light started to fade.

I really can’t knock Samsung too much. Would’ve like to see 4k120 on all rear lenses but the fact that we at least have two different options is a good start. I believe the 5x lens could be enabled later for that as well. Great to see 8k on the 5x lens as well this year. This is still one of the best all around options for auto and pro modes all in one place.

Awesome review and great content Sir. I just returned my S24 Ultra and decided to keep my S22 Ultra. I'm African American and the AI kept adding shade to our skin tone making us darker. The side by side comparisons between the S24 and S22 were telling. We all picked the S22 as the sharper, more authentic, and realistic photo. Some people are complaining that colours are dull and unsaturated on the display, even when in vivid mode. If you fit a screen protector then you will risk losing the anti reflective properties of your screen also.

Watching MrMobile summed it up for me, the S24U is a fantastic phone but a sideways update to the S23U and apart from one or two changes (some maybe not for the better), spending £1350 or more and trading in the S23U for only £600 is a tough sell. With deals that may become more acceptable, but if you like 10X zoom, a curved display, and a glossy display to show off the vivid, saturated screen, stay with the S23U as the AI is coming to that phone soon.

Within 10x optical zoom, 5x digital zoom is awesome in S23 Ultra. They should have given a 5x optical lens instead of 3x optical zoom and retained their 10x optical lens. Digital zooms within those optical zooms are simply awesome. Night photography on s24 ultra is all paint brush effect. I checked my s23 ultra against s24 ultra at night in a samsung store. The guy sitting at the counter looked painted on s24 ultra 10x digital zoom vs. S23 ultra optical zoom. Their 5x zooms were absolutely comparable. So i immediately dropped the idea of upgrade and walked out of the store.

These are just the results I got. Everyone has different results. I can only go by what’s in my camera reel. The S23 Ultra no doubt takes better pictures sometimes as I pointed out but I am seeing an improvement in a lot of the shots.

And for me the over exposure and over brighten have been my peeve with Samsung. The pixel still camera is still better. I was hoping the s24 ultra would be different and be as close to the pixel. But so far it has been disappointing based on camera samples. But will see after some updates and my own experiences.

@@hienho15 I have compared the result in Samsung Store, its definitely better on S24 Ultra, but sometimes S24 is not consistence becuz the new sensor Isocell HP25X/HP2SX is over sensitive to white mid tone light (that why sometimes over brigth, HDR sometimes mixed up). If u put down the white light on mid tones, its drastically better. You can try it by urself.

@@stevin2204 I will see once I get the phone. But I said last year the s22 ultra seems better than the s23 ultra. Now the s23 ultra seems better than the s24 ultra. Maybe an update will fix this. But for many years I have criticized Samsung for their processing and they still have this issue. I just wish they balance everything out by toneing down the brightness and over sharpening. It would be the best camera of any phone out there.

As of this point in time the S23 Ultra has a more polished camera performance than that on the S24 Ultra for sure. This should change with time though.

I have a hard time believing that TikTok is not fake (or at least very poorly done and hence not scientific at all). It's a very specific use case (and hence not a good indication of overall battery life) and I understand there could be a rather sizeable difference due to that, but 100% better battery life than 15PM looks suspicious. There could be a ton of factors that could have skewed the result - like very different brightness etc.

Looks a lot like the S22 Ultra and S23 Ultra. This is merely an update, not an upgrade. Photo difference is minimal at best. Not worth the money.

Overall, I would say photo and video quality on the 24 Ultra is not yet as polished as that on the 23 Ultra.
