I would agree with your conclusion for 2024, but I just can't..... That whole "grainy display" issue with the S24 Ultra is WAY too much to ignore...... I love my S24U but every single night I use it, I can't get my mind off of all the grain. It's BAD....... It's honestly offensive that Samsung's response was "it is designed to do that to save power"... That's BS, because not every display has the same amount of grain.

@@walterdbrown I had the Pixel 8 Pro and traded it for the S24 Plus in July. I'm currently debating getting the Pixel 9 Pro (not the XL) as a second phone as there were some things I liked and didn't like about Pixel. The UI was restrictive sort of like the iPhones in that regard, but I did like the call screen feature. I had heating problems with the Pixel 8 Pro and didn't like the notification dot instead of the badge number on notifications. I think the photos on the Pixel were better. I guess you have to pick which features are most important. I'm not a gamer, but liked the fact the S24 Plus was superior in many ways with the hardware. I don't need two phones and hate to trade the S24 Plus. Perhaps I'll bite the bullet, open the wallet, and have the Pixel 9 Pro that I can change out every couple of weeks.

@@KevinPerry-i7o If you already have a big screen phone, the 9 Pro 6.3" is a no brainer. That one seems like a great purchase as your backup. But if you feel you don't really need a second phone, just wait until the S25 lineup cause the Ultra is getting rounded corners and the new chip will make it perhaps the best phone ever from Samsung.

@@walterdbrown I personally wouldn't get the Ultra, no need for the s pen that I'd never use. I like the thought of the smaller screen. I tend to use Google apps more than Samsung. That's the one knock on Samsung can't uninstall all of their apps like their internet browser, the Galaxy store etc. You can get lost with all the customization options as well. It's kind of a tossup depending on what a person values. I thought the Pixel interface was simple, but boring while others I suppose like it. Pixel as they say is the iPhone of Android.

As a S24 Ultra owner, switched from iPhone 15 Pro. Will be switching to OnePlus 13 real soon. Samsung is basically slowly becoming an Apple and users are pretending like that is not a thing. Like sure it is amazing device, but every new Chinese device is far better if you are realistic. Overall great device, but nothing too worthy of the glaze

Well my s24 ultra has been overheating since may just by watching KZbin videos and using Google wallet. I’ve complained over 50 times through Samsung members and the KZbin/wallet app and the play store and they don’t bother to fix it. Cleaned caché and nothing helps, leaving aside the massive battery drain on idle which is 1% each hour

However i have been on the fence for a while if buying or not the iPhone 16 Pro. Bought today, is a solid device but i have to test in the next weeks to have a solid opinion. I would like Samsung to reconsider the design of the navigation bar, as the current implementation feels somewhat inconvenient. The bar often appears semi-transparent, and its background overlaps part of the content on the screen, which can make the interface feel cluttered. In contrast, Apple's navigation bar appears and disappears smoothly, without obstructing the content, and has a much cleaner and more intuitive design, without an additional background. I hope Samsung takes these points into consideration and improves this aspect of the interface.

I've had all the marque android phones to date (Note 2 and beyond, S10+, Evo, still have the Huawei Mate 20X for novelties sake) and the S24U has been the most complete all around jack of all trades and master of them all also!!! If Samsung took an approach like Apple to create an in house processor on the consistent level of the Snapdragons or better SOLEY for the Ultra line they would entice more and crush the US market

S23 Ultra was phone of the year in 2023, hands down, no question. Samsung did it so well, that in my opinion, it wasn't enough to improve on to win it again in 2024. Tweaks, yes, but marginal due to how well the S23 Ultra was built. In my opinion, the Pixel 9 Pro XL gets POY in 2024. Nice video though because Samsung is still on top overall.

My 24 Ultra's battery life sucks; I only get about 3 hours of screen-on time, even though I only game for an hour a day. Plus, the camera quality seems worse now while taking pictures and videos at low light

Besides the anti-glare feature, this phone does not have anything special. Premium build is common in phones over 400-500 Euros. Titanium is just a marketing gimmick, with probably no more than 5-10 Euros worth of titanium in it. The software also still has some catching up to do.
