For astro-photography, there is a special mode on the S24 hidden away in Expert Raw (I really wish they'd merge it with Pro mode!) You can choose from 4/7/10 minute exposures, and it overlays a cool constellation map - check it out.

My issue with Samsung has always been the software. 6-12 months behind in mainline Android updates and the continued insistence to push rebranded Samsung bloatware on customers. Even with the hardware quality, I stick with "stock" OS phones like Pixel and IOS.

I don't really care who has the best camera or has the fastest phone in benchmarks. Every flagship smartphone takes super pictures and video's and is blazing fast. 97% of all smartphone users don't even see/notice the differences. I'm a SMARTPHONE user so I want the best screen (dpi/brightness/anti-glare), best battery, best/most usability and productivity options, best gaming- and multi-media experience, best personalization options and best innovation. I want DEX, KNOX, S-PEN, call recording, multi-tasking, multi-window, fingerprint scanner, best screen, widgets, themes, integration with windows, the biggest eco-system (Samsung SmartThings), fast charging, fast wireless charging and I want AI. On all these aspects the S24 Ultra is destroying the iphone 15 PM big time.

that battery life comparison at the 4:40 mark has one issue: neither the iphone nor the pixel have mobile network, your sim is in the S24U. Mobile network kills the battery on the pixel, it would not be in the lead if none of these devices had sims in them.

Hands down your best comparison video. Loved the fact you brought up the lens transition animations. I love pixels but those transitions and horrible video noise steer me away from wanting to record video with. Photos are the best of the best most of the time straight out of camera. Iphone is boring but the best camera system of the 3 for sure. Samsung is def getting there as well better than the pixel in video no question. Awesome video!

Actually given that the camera sensors of phones are smaller than in a DSLR I'd love to have an option to set the time that I want, but I guess that there'll be some problems doing that without a tracking mount...

I was looking at all of these phones and if I had the budget and larger hands I'd go for the Samsung - even though the Pixel is a similar size, it's a lot easier to hold. I bought the pixel as it was £500 cheaper than the Samsung and I don't think the slightly better camera is worth that extra. Pixel 8 Pro is now £709 for the 256GB in the UK... and for that camera and phone it's a bargain. I do want to use it for concerts, where I'm not allowed my actual camera. I hope it performs well (anything's better than my old iPhone SE)

With samsung you sadly see a lot of processing. Not only the unnatural oversharpening when taking zoom photos but also the general color scheme zhat looks way to different from what reality looks like. That's why I am gonne ditch my S21 FE soon and replace it with the Pixel 9 Pro. Great comparison by the way. Keep it up👍

I've just got the s24 ultra, noted that when zoom from 3× to 5× there is a slight vertical shift on the picture, something feel like the phone tilt a few degrees. Does anyone have the same issue or just me got lucky?

it is amazing how far we've come, any of these do a great job with photo/video, but as far as audio quality i feel like the iphone won easily. the iphone had the worst stabilization i felt. galaxy did some stuff amazing but overall not as good as the iphone, which other than audio felt good enough for most things and the pixel was as good as the iphone (minus audio test) and better at most things. probably pixel the best option, BUT of course what am i using a phone for most? Audio related communication (aka phone calls granted i don't do that, that often anymore 😂) so iphone wins for me, i totally get why it wouldn't win for others though.

In terms of image quality, my preference bounces around… there’s not one phone that’s superior for every shot. The Galaxy however has an advantage in terms of features such as an extra zoom lens, being able to capture stills, pause, and insert different angles while recording; they’ve had that advantage for years actually, plus Samsung has already confirmed an update to further improve camera performance on the new S24.

@@mrkring1526 I can’t speak to any motion blur or lack thereof since the fastest things I photograph are kids and cats, and even coming from an S20U it was never an issue for me… I always took motion photos and just picked out the best frame. In terms of shutter lag however, they’ve improved by leaps and bounds over the last four years. It used to be clearly noticeable, but on the S24U it’s the same difference when compared with my wife’s 13 Pro Max… that is, no lag to speak of on either. Far as I can tell, Samsung being slower or not as smooth as iPhones is no longer a thing, at least on the S series.
