@@realmoonknight You probably misunderstood what was mentioned. Pixel night sight auto setting is around 3 seconds as well. What happened in the video was because the astrophotography mode was automatically activated (can be turned off)because it is on a tripod and the location is very dark therefore it's taking very long to snap the photos. So in short, the KZbinr was not very familiar with how the pixel works. But seems like Google made astrophotography manual on Android 15 so this might not happen next time.

When handheld, the Pixel does the same "quicker" night shots as the other two. However when on a tripod, it engages Astrophotography mode which is the longer capture times you saw @3:40. It assumes that if you're using a tripod, you're probably fine waiting awhile for the best quality photos.

Not just that, but for me the over sharpening is what destroys the experience. Samsung has been guilty of doing this for so many years. Maybe because of social media compression that they need to compensate for, they bake in the over sharpening in their image processing.. but it’s not a pleasant experience for someone who was looking for natural photos.

The Pixel’s dynamic range in the front camera is the best and the field of view is also the best on the Pixel 9. The iPhone’s video stabilisation (Action Mode) is the best, but the Galaxy’s stabilisation is a close second. Also, The S24 does edit its photos, and a common example of that is the moon shot, and the vibrancy of the Galaxy is increased by editing with AI. Here is my ranking of their cameras : 1. Pixel 9 Pro 2. iPhone 16 Pro 3. Galaxy S24 Ultra

Frankly I'm shocked at the difference in the quality of the zoomed images at 1:30. It's very clear to see which is #1, 2 and 3 here. The Samsung's AI sharpening is a detriment at 3:13. It would be interesting to see how much better it would look in RAW format. Where you point out the difference in screen brightness at 2:16 I think you have the Samsung at a less than ideal screen setting. Normally it can be much brighter. You should have pointed out the very noticeable lack of glare on the Samsung screen during that segment. The difference is not subtle. As you say, the differences are mostly subjective and I would take ANY of them for photos and videos (I do own one of them though 😁).

Apple and Samsung are top of the smartphone world obviously , however it seems like pixel may be finally in the running. It’s nice to see the competition to the heavy hitters. Is nobody going to comment on the S24's casual A.I. generation, upscaling, dumb sharpening, aggressive de-noise and colour compression of literally everything? Also, was A.I. tampering disabled in camera settings? Either way, what on Earth is Samsung thinking... the iPhone's output meanwhile is more or less unprocessed and, as you can see, shows that the Android default camera application processing of those Android based phones has no reason to exist. Samsung are again trying to make a camera system well out of bounds for such small sensors and lenses to support and topping it off by making them completely unusable without third-party Software.

Even in the shots where the other photos seem to have the edge, iphone can use styles to make it look the same while still having clearer pictures. Android really should give the option because some of their shots look so fake and I hate it. Overall really great cameras and can't go wrong with any.

@@EndowedWarrior Yes!! The biggest issue is that iPhones have a single operating system with a standard API across most all of their models. v16 versus 16 Pro Max? Same lenses, same sensors. Different configuration. Everyone else by comparison have multiple camera systems in just a single phone series, and Android as their go-to operating system since SymbianOS. It's why iPhones get all the third-party camera program support, too. How are programmers meant to make custom support for every individual phone model in existence? To make it worse, Android doesn't even have a standard camera API. But I heard that Google are, or were thinking about doing something about it. Even then, there's absolutely no excuse for the phone companies' in-house devs for not adding in such features. You'd think that Oppo, to pick on a company falling so short of what Nokia achieved with the 808 And the 1030 would have an option for RAW. Only Apple it seems understands that RAW means unprocessed. I bring Nokia up as those images, while having de-noising and what not, is applied liberally and properly. You wouldn't know it was there and you certainly can't see it for the quality one inch camera systems just... have.
