Even though battery life is the common complaint in smart watches you really have to look at the big picture. These things have higher specs than home desktop computers had in the early 2000s. The fact that they can even go up to two days without a charge is genuinely impressive especially considering I have to charge my cellphone about every one to two days.

Aside from the giggles, comparing it to the early 2000s doesn't have much sense nor can be an argument for anything. We're already far ahead in a lot of fields, including IT. It can be really unconvenient for some people to only have a few hours of charge, even if it's for the simple peace of mind. Lots of smartphones do last for at least two days nowadays. Matter of choice, but some watches do last longer. Take now the Samsung Watch 5 Pro, for instance. I'm one to have tried the one day watch battery and really didn't enjoy it, especially when it takes quite a while to charge.

It's honestly weird to me that so many people apparently don't just charge their stuff overnight? I don't see why a device not being able to go two days straight without charging would be an issue when I'm never going to do that anyway. Especially with wireless charging making everything so easy.

Good review, thanks! I actually love the battery life on my watch 4 Classic. I run always on display and tilt to wake, and it lasts a full day with like 20% to spare at the end of the night. That's with a 4 mile run at the start of the day. So that's good enough for me. I can use it to its fullest. I charge it every night like my phone, no big deal for me. Never tried to do multiple days, though!

yeah thats great and all, but for reference my original galaxy watch in the same scenario i get 2 full days with around 10 percent left going into the third day. They have downgraded the battery size on every new iteration from the original.

Love this watch so far - I have had it for a week now. It detects my physical exertion while cleaning the yard and garage and counts it as "other workout" including heart rate and calories, which is helpful in counting all of my daily strenuous activity, even if it is not technically "exercise".

Seriously, Samsung's watch is unmatched. I still have the Galaxy Watch 2 (2014) and it works perfectly. That was before we could use the phone independent of the phone so that's the only down side of it. I just got the 4 so I guess I will keep this for almost 10 years lol.

@@jymkym11 At this point it's not a dramatic improvement. Pros: - Better battery, lasts all day and charge at every night, never too low. (Gear would probably be similar if I replaced the battery, it typically lasted all day.) - Thinner - Better/more health measurements. (I don't use this much) - More app options. This is something I have yet to explore much of, but like I was greatly surprised to find an app that works with my EUC (electric unicycle) that displays my speed and lot of other info on the watch while I'm riding. Cons: - No quick access tile, which I prefer over putting my favorite apps on top of the app drawer. It's less organized this way. Meh: - Audio control it the same, meh, and I preferred it on pebble watches. - Watch faces are meh like on the Gear since I like things simple, decently informative, but also including AM/PM which so many people don't include on watch face. Will be making my own. Don’t know yet: - There's a lot more options for apps I believe, but I didn't use many apps on my Gear, and I have yet to fully explore what apps may be useful on my 4. - Google pay is available on the 4, and I think I've seen more terminals accept google pay over Samsung pay. I want to try using this. - Google assistant I need to explore more on using with the watch, since that was a major appeal to me. I use Alexa at home all the time, but on the go my phone already uses google assistant voice recognition, so I'm not entirely sure what's the advantages of having it on my watch. Like will it be helpful for music control? Overall it's an improvement and has more possibilities, but a smartwatch isn't going to replace your smartphone in stuff like gaming, replying to text, and social media browsing. For me it mainly does notifications, time keeping/alarms/tracking, and audio control. I got an LTE version for $225 on amazon (idk why it's cheaper than the WIFI one right now), and I just turned off LTE cause I don't use it. Before finding the EUC app, I really considered returning it cause it's not much different for my use cases compared to the gear. My opinion on its use cases may change as I explore it more. If you're tight on money, and don't use a smartwatch for a ton of stuff, just get a refurbished Gear S3 on eBay for $70 from a good seller (maybe get another as a backup if you plan to have 1 type of watch for many years since it's old already and dying out). If you do go for a refurbished Gear buy a better watch charger than the included cheap ones, they can overheat. You made a good move, the battery life hasn't changed much in the new one, and since they both run the new Wear OS, software support will carry on for a bit more. Loosing the rotating bezel on the watch 5 Pro is another reason I prefer the Watch 4 Classic more, at least for now :P

Hello, I am planning to change from Huawei watch GT 2 sport to Galaxy watch 4 classic 46mm. I am very afraid from the battery time. Huawei could take 8 days with full usage and 14 days with light usage. My question would be, if I will turn everything off on galaxy watch 4 classic 46mm, just only the night sleep mode on and maybe measure the blood pressure at every 10 minutes ( so bluetooth OFF, Wifi OFF, ECG OFF, Always on display OFF, hands up turn on mode OFF. ) What will be the real usage time without charging? 1 or 2 or 3 days maybe? Anybody has experience on that?

great review unfortunately i had to return my galaxy watch 4 classic. had the LTE version (tmobile) as soon as my watch got disconnected from the bluetooth my watch started to overheat i thought it was just me but many users have the same problem on phone calls.. also no samsung email so i wasn't able to get all my emails the only option was outlook and that was hit or miss. maybe the bluetooth only version works better. the new technology is great but it doesn't fit my needs as i have the old galaxy watch i use every day without issues. once again great review.

I have the LTE version, but only use Bluetooth because of the overheating issues. I'm going to return it and remove my watch plan from my cellular service. Then get a Bluetooth only version to save money.

Quick question, I have a Samsung Galaxy Watch 4 Classic - Wi-Fi version (not LTE) and I was told that if my phone and watch lose Bluetooth connectivity and my watch is still connected to Wi-Fi I would be able to make calls from my watch via my Wi-Fi connection. This feature is not working! I'm very frustrated, is this or is it not a thing?

Interesting question and I should make a video about it. I've noticed it worked while I was on the same home network for a bit then just refused to work after the 2nd update. Haven't tried it in a bit but will see if the recent update made a difference.

ROTATING BEZEL? Everyone blogs about the wonderful rotating bezel as if it is a good thing. I was one of the first to get the new GW4 Classic. Loved the concept of the rotating bezel and the hefty look of the GW4 Classic at the time, but be aware that the bezel is a magnet for dust, soap, sweat, debris. I first noticed bezel problems from sawdust when cutting a 2x4 and then from flour baking over the holidays and also after dirt biking in the desert. When the satisfying rotating bezel stops rotating it is a game changer. I quickly went from loving the watch to hating it. One more thing to consider is that in most cases the classic bezel requires two finger operation (unless it is silky smooth which doesn't last). As you can expect, Samsung doesn't consider this issue a warranty claim and also emphasized that the bezel is NOT removable. After much disappointment I was ready to toss it in the trash. I decided I had nothing to lose so I attempted to remove the bezel to see what was causing the horrible resistance. I'm happy to say that the bezel is removable. It is a simple design. There are no wires or complicated parts that need calibration. Just clean it and put it back the way you it and clicks back into place. This process requires extreme care (small delicate parts) so only attempt at your own risk. Using a razor blade from a box cutter or a guitar pick may also work, I pried up the bezel. Underneath is a delicate plastic ring (remember what side is up when you remove the plastic ring). The plastic ring is not a complete circle...it has a break in it, but it is not broken so don't freak out. Next there are four of the smallest ball bearings you will ever see each sitting in small holes under the bezel and they are loose so prepare a good work area and don't tilt the watch if you can help it to prevent losing them. A white work surface is best to see them better. The ball bearings are the size of the head of a pin. I put the ball bearings and plastic ring in a safe place and started cleaning everything with toothpicks, Q tips rubbing alcohol and canned air (watch those ball bearings when using the canned air). There was very little obvious gunk...hardly any, but I cleaned it as if there was. reassembled it by putting the plastic ring in the bezel first then holding it over the watch and clicking it into place pressing down evenly not to lose the ball bearings. It clicking into place easily and the bezel now working again. It saved the watch from going in the trash. Still with the bezel finally rotating smoothly, It still takes two fingers to rotate (annoying to me) and I feel the bezel will likely build resistance again eventually. I decided to trade in my Classic for the GW4. There are great promotions going on now that allow me to get a new watch with a fresh battery for almost an even swap with trade-in. Sleeker design, lighter, resists crap better, fewer moving parts and one finger bezel operation is something to consider. Some may not have any issues with their bezels, but in everyday life I found it hard to avoid and I don't want to leave it at home. Just want to let you know. Still love the watch just and use it daily.

Short answer Yes.but it's a process. You gotta get Google assistant APK, then down Firetools on your phone and then turn debugging over wi-fi in the settings on your watch, copy your IP address back to the app and Install. If you do a search on KZbin I'm sure you can find a walkthrough.

If you're looking at this watch in December 2022, eBay sellers has them for like $109+ as refurb! In my opinion, the Samsung Watch 5 pro is NOT worth it since they removed the mechanical bezel and it's basically the same exact watch! So why pay much more for something that isn't better?

My Galaxy Watch 4 Classic got wet in the swimming pool. Even though I bought the watch in November 2021, Samsung said that because it got wet it is NOT under Warranty and I need to pay $198 to repair it. I said no. My watch is being returned to me WITHOUT it being fixed. IP 68 and swim proof is only good as long as the watch does not get wet inside. I am NEVER going to buy another Galaxy Watch again.

My biggest complaint and the reason i am retuning the classic is very WEAK vibration! It does not wake me if i use it as an alarm and in a deep sleep. My galaxy watch active (3yrs old) has a stronger vibration. Back to my 3yr old watch! Hopefully the Galaxy 5 is better, if so ill upgtade then.

The purchase of the Galaxy Watch 4 or in my case the Classic became a necessity for the reason that the Galaxy Watch Tizen is now obsolete as it is not able to be paired for either making or receiving calls... The LTE feature is pointless for all of us who carry our phones everywhere we go - instinctively!
