UPDATE: JerryRigEverything has performed a test that calls into question the durability of the Ultra Thin Glass material discussed in this video. While the material is indeed UTG manufactured by Schott, different in composition from the plastic found on other folding-phone displays, the issues Zack raises in his video are important and deserve consideration when pondering a purchase of this type. His video can be found here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mJOknIxjjNyqapI. More details about the glass have been reported on by CNet and can be found here: www.cnet.com/news/samsung-made-the-ultra-thin-glass-used-in-its-galaxy-z-flip/

one of the most important details is missed in the comparison: how thick is each phone when folded? if one is double the thickness of an average smartphone that's not so good, and the other is way thinner, that's a winner. edit: I did the research for mr. fisher: motorola is 14 mm and samsung is 17.3 mm thick when folded (according to Cnet's comprehensive comparison).
@FalconWindblader4 жыл бұрын
Fewer & fewer people would care about thinness with phones these days. unless you opt to go with either stupendously cheap phones or rugged phones, no phones would even qualify as 'thick' these days, a fact so prevalent that there're quite a number of phones people struggle to hold, precisely because they're too damn thin. few people would mind the thickness so long as the phone stays within 8mm when opened.

I’m only a month or so away from a phone upgrade, and considering phone insurance is cheap on Verizon anyway, I think I’ll go with Razr. It just has the visual style I want, coupled with a pretty useful external display. Considering I don’t care much about camera quality, if at all, I think it’ll be worth it for looks and nostalgia alone! I appreciate this in depth look at using these as daily drivers though, definitely helped me make a decision between them!

Maybe Z Flip is a smarter choice but it's simply soulless. For that reason, I think i would pick Razr. Also, don't overwork yourself and get better soon!

I'm really thinking about buying the Razr and this was helpful. While there were a lot of things said that make me hesitant, I just can't get over the bigger second display on the Razr. There are so many trade offs but I'm just not sure I'd want a foldable without a good second display. It seems I have some thinking to do.

I would go ONLY for A20; I dont have that much money 💰.

Zaeem Atif even those who can afford don’t necessarily want to spend that kind of money on a phone, there so much else one can buy.

Okay so the zflip's glass screen is a scam. Watch JerryRigEverything's video

A lot of negative comments here, but if you buy into the smaller form factor it is a two horse race. I have been watching the RAZR for almost 2 years wanting to see this thing, loved my old v3 and was wanting the v4. But I have to admit, MOTO has constructed the phone like a cheaper unit mid to cheap phone and the Z flip just looks like a well made premium product, in comparison. If i decide to get one (after viewing in person) it will probably be the Z flip. Motorola’s black is not flashy, they should of had colours like the old versions, but the z flip stands out and say, HEY LOOK AT ME. Which is the whole thing of these phones

JerryRigEverything proved that the display is plastic not glass. Can still scratch with fingernails.
